THE AIR WAS cool. forgiving. lily turned her face into it briefly, spirits high. there had been a fondness for this month, something that stood out to her, despite the fact that she couldn't quite put her finger on it. but halloween echoed in her memories as significant, and if it was there... it had to be wonderful, didn't it?
the season was buzzing, her mood airy, the true joy from the season pricking her veins. on the street, near the grocery, lily waited patiently at the crosswalk. eyes lifting to meet another's, she offered a polite smile. "it's a little late in the season to grow pumpkins," she commented, "but i thought i could get a rush on some winter squash."
lily's green thumb was one of the few things on which she relied when she tried to brush off the pervasive feeling that she was missing something... a thought that pestered the back of her mind even presently. still, it did nothing to sour her mood. "isn't it the most incredible month of the year? festivals... festivities... the look on children's faces when they plead for sweeties? if i had a child, i would petition the city to have at least a quarterly halloween." || @lcvenderhcze

HOW FUCKING TEDIOUS. the feeling of autumn in the air, the putrid smell of rotted fun and merriment; eric northman flinched against the cool night as he took in the sights before him. the stench of cider, the fallen leaves, the glorious revelry that still hung, even with the overhang of darkness... and where was the self-preservation?
eric was no stranger to london. he'd traveled through many times before, even spreading roots for a few decades in what could only be defined as some of the best years of his life. however, he acknowledged (with immense chagrin) that the london air was probably the thing that disturbed him the most. all he could see, all he could smell, all he could feel... was nora.
struck down before the cure. taken from him before their reunion could have amounted to the years that they desperately deserved. two lives, ruined by greed and, probably, fate. perhaps his grudge reemerged unfairly, but his chest burned with the hatred of bill fucking compton again and again, now that he was faced with this scurrilous location once more.
maybe he should bring back the plague.
with a sweeping motion, he grumbled towards the general contentment before him, commenting to the other beside of him, "i think the only option here is sedation." he added, perhaps unfairly, "halloween," a derisive emphasis on the word, "should be fucking abolished." || @fcdcdmcmories

IT HADN'T TAKEN clary long to settle into a steady rhythm. adaptable? maybe. survivalist? certainly. halloween was approaching, and certainly faster than she'd intended. one moment, she blinked. the next, she was staring down the barrel at fall and stoke a pumpkin in her lap with paint. this, this little pet project, was the only thing to distract her from the panic that was lacing her nerves, as though imprinted in her very blood.
the nagging in the back of her head seemed loud, but she persevered, focusing instead of the image that was emerging over the orange skin; autumnal, as stereotypical as it seemed. there were very few trees from her home. that much she knew. fewer that changed colors as the seasons waned.
when she saw the other, she felt a twinge of familiarity (there was that feeling in the back of her mind again), and she ached to know. with confidence that she regularly wore (but did not always feel), she called out, "hey!" to him, and then turned the paint-smeared pumpkin in his direction. keep him here. "OH, THANK GOD." it came in a sharp exhale as robin's eyes widened slightly and relief flooded her body. it made her feel almost weak, certainly helpless, but after a few moments of relentless staring, she collected herself enough to rush to eddie, hands pressing into his upper arms.
"eddie, oh my god, please tell me you know where everyone else is," she said, frantic, voice frayed. "because, you know, i was having this horrifying thought that we're back... you know... under again. the upside down. and that's enough to make anyone go a little batty." she paused, mouth having run away with her once more, and she flinched. "sorry. bad choice of words."
robin released him, finally, but her eyes still flitted over the length of him, ensuring that he was, in fact, still there. still present. in one piece. contented, at least for the moment, she waved at the air in front of her, as though clearing the smoke from her error. "whatever, look, i'm just so glad to see you. i was feeling insane, and when i feel insane, i just keep spiraling and spiraling and spiraling until my brain won't shut up, and then i can't stop talking... kind of like this... and it's just one nightmare after another and..."
despite having given eddie no chance to interject until now, robin paused for a beat, then said, "well... say something." || @daydrcamings
