Spookytale: Chapter 5: Snowdin town

REMINDER:

Before you dive into the fic: No this is not just for this ONE chapter, it’s for THE ENTIRE FIC

I know the Papyrus fight is a hell of a lot longer in the game but I shortened it due to me not wanting it to drag the damn chapter on-

If you want the whole fight so bad just watch this damn YouTube video and pretend the bones are pumpkins and Papyrus is Pump along with more child-like dialogue (aka no dating or flirting)

Roy walked into the town. He smiled, the town was adorable and it felt warm and cozy despite it being snowy. He saw a sign that said: 'Welcome to Snowdin Town!'. Roy rose an eyebrow, he enjoyed the town but the name was lame AF. He walked through the town in awe, it was not the prettiest but it was nothing like he's ever seen before, in a positive way.

Roy then bumped into someone, causing the two to fall over, the one he bumped into going 'oof'. "Crap! Sorry! Sorry- I was not looking where I was going-" Roy then saw the person he bumped into, he was another boy, about his age too, they where both currently on the ground but Roy could tell the boy was taller then him, he had black shoes, blue jeans and a green coat on, but the sleeves oddly looked limp, as if there was nothing in them. The boy had extremely fluffy blond hair, a small black mole under his left eye, close to his mouth, and had dark circles under his eyes, Roy could not tell if this was black eyes or eyeliner or both- And to top off his look he also wore a blue baseball cap similar to Roy's but he wore it backwards.

Roy stood up and offered his hand. "I can help you up if you want." The boy smiled a huge grin, showing he had pointy fangs. "Thank you but, no you can't." He seamed to have slight humor in his tone. He then laid face down in the snow, making Roy notice he also had a green dinosaur like tail that was the same shade as his jacket, and used his legs to push himself up. Once he was up he turned to Roy. "Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the offer and I forgive you about the accident but I can't be helped up the way you offered, for I don't have arms!" He flopped his sleeves around to prove it farther.

Roy was embarrassed. "Oh, well..." The taller boy cut him off. "It's okay, really!" He still had the huge cheezer grin. "Hey, your new to Snowdin aren't you?" "Yeah...But how did you know exactly??" "It's a small town, once you've lived in it you know literally EVERYBODY who lives here." "Guess that makes sense?" "Hey! What if I show you around?" "That would be really nice. Thank you." "No problem! I like showing new people around the town! Oh, and I've never caught your name! I don't want to just refer to you as 'new guy' or something!"

Roy smiled at the boy. "I'm Leroy, but just Roy is fine!" "I like your name! Did you know Leroy means King?" "That's why I picked it when I changed it!" "Well, I'm Robert!" Roy smiled. "Well, it's nice to meet you Robert!"

Robert then started guiding Roy through the town, introducing Roy to all the shops and people, who welcomed him without a doubt. "People in this town are sure nice..." "Well, yeah, the only time we're NOT nice to newcomers is if their is a relentless killer on the lose, in that case we just hide."

Roy realized something. "Hey Robert, how the hell do you get your jacket on and off-" Robert looked at his jacket. "Oh, I have one of my moms or my little sister help me, we all have the same powers and monster traits but I'm the only one who was born without arms. But my moms and sister just say that makes me special! They also help me with holding things, although I can just do that with my teeth or tail." Robert wiggled his tail.

"That's nice. But what about your friends? Don't they help you?" Robert looked slightly sad. "Oh, well...I don't... Have friends... I'm KIND to people but there aren't that many kids my age around here and I'm too much of a chicken to explore outside of the town without someone by my side." He laughed it off with a small weak laugh.

Roy could not help but feel bad. "I don't have any friends ether, I bully a lot of people but in reality, I don't want to, I only do so as an outlet for very bad family issues...Even then that's not an excuse..."

Robert felt bad for Roy, he just wanted to give the poor boy a hug, but he couldn't really due to his lack of arms. Robert then had an idea and he cuddled against him, rapping his tail around him. Roy opened his mouth to ask what he was doing before Robert responded. "You seemed like you needed a hug, but I could not hug you in a 'traditional' way so, I'm doing the next best thing." Roy smiled and hugged the bigger boy back.

"If you'd like, I could be your friend?" Roy was the one with the huge cheezer grin now, not as big as Roberts, but still. "Really?" "Really! Now we can be each others first friend!" Roy smiled as Robert said this. "By the way, what's it like being a normal?" "...How did you..??" "You don't have any monster traits, which did not give it away itself, for some specials don't have them. And you don't have any powers, you seem extremely strong and brave but your strength is not on a specials power level. And finally, no special reacts to a new area like you did, yes we'd be awe struck too if we've never been there but not on the level you where. Also there was a pumpkin kid who lives here running around screaming: "There is a normal on the loose and I will capture it!!" Although everyone thought it was just him just being a kid."

Roy glared slightly. "Kinda rude. But yeah. And I guess being one is not all that different...Although your "race" is a hell of a lot cooler! You have all these special monster powers and traits! I wish I had them." "Well, your kind of like one, just picture your strength as a power and your freakishly-for-a-normal-sharp canines as a trait." "I guess?"

The two boys continued to walk around the town for a bit. "Why are you here anyway? If you don't mind me asking." "Well, I had a transphobic family and an uncle who did, let's just say DISTURBING, things to me and I heard that 7 kids have gone missing on the mountain, I could not take it anymore and decided to make it 8." Robert never went through any of this himself, nor was he transgender like Roy, but yet he understood perfectly. "So I ended up here, a nice lady who's the mom of the skeleton kid that hangs around here-" "Oh! Mrs. Lila? She only hangs in the ruins where she and Skid live but she's really nice!"

"I know! She was more like a mom to me then my birth mother was... I wanted to stay," Roy then had determination in his eyes as he clenched his fists slightly. "But I heard the tale. No one here deserves this!" He folded his arms and growled, flashing his teeth. "That's why I'm going to go AND DESTROY THAT F**KING BARRIER!!! WITH MAGIC, SOUL POWER, OR MY FISTS, OR EVEN WITH MY TEETH IT'S F**KING GOING DOWN!!!!" He then glared at the sky. "Oh, *taco bell noise* off censorship." "I know right?! It's so annoying!"

Roy took a breath though his *invisible* nose and smoothed the hair that stuck out of his hat due to it poofing/frizzing up during his enraged screaming. Robert smiled. "It's nice you want to do that but, that's basically a death sentence. You'll have to get past our prince. PRINCE-" Roy cut him off. "I know about the prince, he's our age and he's actually the king you just call him the prince do to him being a teenager." Robert made a pouty face. "Okay but here's what you don't know about him: He has incredibly strong fire powers! Make him mad and he'll fry you to a crisp! Granted, he's really chill and cool, RARELY gets mad but I'd still be careful if I where you."

"Sounds like a benefit if your his friend." Roy chuckled slightly. "Yeah..." Robert was actually, blushing? He snapped out of it. "I-I mean!! He also has an older brother!" "Okay- One: If his brother is older then why didn't HE take the throne? And Two: Where you just blushing???" Robert was embarrassed. "I'M SORRY I'M GAY I FIND BOYS CUTE-" He practically yelled sweating like a cartoon character. "Sorry- Anyways, Kevin was in line to be the king but his dream was to become the leader of the royal guard! And I may or may not have developed a crush on Ross ever since we've met once in kindergarten and interacted for a bit again in 6th grade..." Robert blushed again before shaking it off. "Anyways, what I'm trying to say is I'm not letting you do it alone!"

Roy rose an eyebrow. "You gonna try to stop me???" Robert chuckled slightly. "No." He smirked "It means I'm joining you."

Robert has joined your party.

"Glad I have someone with me on my journey!" Roy said with a smile. "Hey, have you heard of those strange glowing stars? The ones that float and kinda shimmer?" "I've seen one like that, near the entrance of the town, but I don't know what it does."

The two began to walk towards the town entrance. "I can't really explain it too well, but for some reason, whenever I touch one I feel strange...Like a really good feeling coursing through my veins and an odd feeling that if I die. Time will reset to that exact point. I don't know why..." The two where at the SAVE star. Roy went to touch it, gesturing with his head for Robert to do the same. Robert then nervously reached with his tail to touch it.

Roy's hand and Robert's tail made contact, Roy felt pure strength and bravery course through him and Robert felt excitement and kindness course through him, as the phrase played in Roy's head.

"Robert has now joined your party, you are filled with BRAVERY and Robert with KINDNESS."

The two then walked away from it. "Well, my adventure has ended our adventure starts now." "Huh?" "I'm saying I'm no longer doing the adventure solo and the rest of it will be us working together Robert." "Oh-"

"The waterfall area should be straight ahead, it's the next step to the prince's castle which is next to the barrier." "So we got to walk through the entire town again?!" Robert smiled and guided him to a nearby small igloo. "Well, we did make an alternate route incase we don't feel like walking." Robert then crouched and crawled through, Roy following, suddenly they where immediately at the other side of the town.

"What the-" "Well, that's the Snowdin tunnels for ya."

Robert took a deep breath through his nose, closing his eyes as he did so. "Well. This is the path out of Snowdin... Can't believe I'm finally doing this." "Kind of hurts huh?" Roy asked sensing Robert's nervousness. "Yeah, I can't help but feel bad, I know ultimately we're doing a good thing but... Still." Roy smiled softly and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "I've got your back." Robert smiled and the two then walked through the path together.

But as they walked down the path, snow began to blur their vision. "What the hell?!" Robert said as Roy violently waved his hand in front of his own face.

The two suddenly heard a loud yet small voice. "NORMAL! THIS IS YOUR DOWNFALL NOW!! I WILL CAPTURE YOU AND I WILL TURN YOU INTO THE ROYAL GUARD!!!!"

"What am I, chopped liver?" Robert replied. Pump noticed him. "OH SO YOU HAVE A PRISONER NOW?!?!" "Uh no- He's my friend-!!" "SILANCE!!"

The two where then flipped into battle mode like normal, Pump and a confused as hell Robert as the opponents. "What the?!" "You'll get used to it." Roy simply said.

Robert looked around then at Pump. "Wait, WHY AM I ON YOUR SIDE?" Pump had a 'are you serious?' look. "Uhh, your a special like me. The normals FIGHT the specials." Robert glared. "LIKE HELL I'M GONNA FIGHT WITH YOU." Robert then proceeded to break battle mode by zooming to Roy's side.

When Robert zipped to Roy's side, a explosion effect happened and there where now not one but two HP bars, an amber one that said 18/20 and was labeled 'Roy' and the other one was emerald green, read '20/20' and was labeled 'Robert'. The HP bars where not the only things that doubled, the SOULs did to.

Robert stood at Roy's side and he had his own SOUL in front of his chest, just like Roy did. Just like Roy's it glowed and had a heartbeat in synch with his own, but Robert's SOUL was upside down and instead of being amber, it was emerald green. (A/N: I know in Undertale all the monster's SOULs are grey and not colorful like the human ones but in Spookytale all SOULs are colorful, K?)

"Wow. I have NEVER seen that before." The pumpkin kid shook it off. "ANYWAYS NORMAL! PREPARE YOUR YOUR DOWNFALL! NYEH HYEH HYEH!"

The first attack came. Roy's turn to decide what to do/dodge, this was signaled by Robert's SOUL dimming and him magically being pushed to the side.

Roy CHECKd Pump.

Pump. 8 ATK 2 DEF. A small pumpkin kid that likes to yell: 'Nyeh hyeh hyeh!'.

"NYEH HYEH HYEH!" The first attack came and three small pumpkins rolled across the board, the problem being they did not come NEAR Roy. Roy rose an eyebrow.

Roberts turn, as he was magically pushed into Roy's spot and his SOUL was normal again.

Robert decided to ACT. "Look, Pump! You have it all wrong! Roy did not "Capture" me! He's my friend!!" "You gave it a name?" "No. He already had a name. I was just referring to him with his name and not as an IT unlike you." Pump looked slightly embarrassed. "Right...I did not think about the fact normals could have names...But nothingless even if it-" "HE!" Roy corrected. "OY! IT'S NOT YER TURN!" Pump yelled at him, shaking his fist.

He then turned back to Robert. "Anyways even if he did not capture you, I must still capture him! For I shale become a member of the Royal Guard!" "They don't allow kids..." Pump ignored him but nothing happened, it suddenly shifting to Roy's turn.

"What the hell?! Aren't you gonna attack me?"

"EY EY EY! IT'S NOT YOUR TURN ANYMORE! SHOOSH."

Robert growled wanting to flip him off but he did not cause a: it's a kid and b: he had no f***ing arms which means no hands.

Roy SPAREd, while he was trying to think of a way to pacifist his way out of here.

The three pumpkins came back, the middle one now bigger, but again did not come near Roy.

Robert's turn again. Robert ACTed. "Seriously? Aren't you gonna attack me?" "Well, your not a normal so...No." "Oh...Well, that's kinda boring..." "Wow, your dumb just like your little sister. Seriously, she also wanted to be attacked, "cause it's fun.""

Robert looked at him with a blank expression, a creak noise coming from his neck. "Excuse me?" His face began to twist into an angry expression. "Insult me all you want. I would not give a single damn. I'm all "Rainbows and sunshine" I have a very controlled temper." He began yelling, completely enraged. "BUT IF YOU INSULT MY LITTLE SISTER YOU HAVE ANOTHER THING COMING!!!" He screeched, snarling going to FIGHT but very luckily for everyone it swapped to Roy's turn.

Robert started screaming, nothing but loud dumptruck toy noises emitting from his mouth. Roy, who could understand what he was saying despite being censored, had an absolutely horrified expression. "Damn. Even I would not say that." He then slowly twisted his head towards Pump. "Uhhh...If you can understand what he's saying. Don't use those words or your parents might make you eat soap okay?"

Pump nodded, equally horrified, but not because of Robert's swearing, with a loud squeaking sound effect.

Roy ACTed. "Why are you trying to catch me so bad?" "To become a member of the Royal Guard duh!" "But why! I did nothing wrong! Heck, we could probably be friends." "I would like that..." Pump was thinking before snapping out of it. "No! I already have Skid and I must capture you! Wrong doing or not!"

The next attack came. "If you won't fight. Let's see if you can handle my blue attack!"

A bunch of blue pumpkins rolled everywhere. Roy just stayed completely still, and he was fine. Roy then heard a 'ding' noise and his SOUL switched from amber to dark blue, his eyes now had very light blue sclera, sapphire blue irises and his pupils glowed white and he suddenly he felt incredible gravity being shoved onto him. Roy collapsed onto the ground with a grunt. He yowled as a white attack then slammed into him while in this state. His HP bar now reading '16/20'.

Roy bared his teeth as he groaned and forced himself to (kind of?) stand up, even then he was kind of crouching and you could see visible sweat on his face due to using a hell of a lot of strength just to STAND. "Nggh, WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO TO ME?!"

Pump laughed at him with that stupid 'nyeh hyeh hyeh' laugh. "You're blue now!" Roy fell again. He then kind of did a pushup to get himself back off the ground and ended up 'jumping'. "What the hell?!" He said as he floated back down back to the fallen state. "Yeah, while in this mode you can jump unnatural heights to make it fair...Blah blah."

Roberts turn. "I think it's best if I don't have this turn."

It swapped back to Roy's turn. Two pumpkins rolled across the board, Roy jumped over the first one, but the second one hit him due to him not 100% having the jump mechanic down. Roy yowled as it hit, his HP bar now reading '14/20'.

Roberts turn, now he was fully calm again. "I get you want to become a Royal Guard member, but is it really worth trying to capture someone?" "Yes."

Roy's turn. A small pumpkin rolled across the board, then three bigger ones, then three even bigger ones. Roy managed to jump over all of them.

Robert's turn. "But we're trying to-" "Shush." "But-" "SHUSH AND LET ME CATCH IT."

Roy's turn, he glared at the pumpkin kid as he forced himself to stand up once more.

More pumpkins rolled across the board, Roy quickly jumped between them.

Robert's turn, he just faced his butt towards the pumpkin kid.

Roy's turn. "PREPARE FOR MY SPECIAL ATTACK!" Pump yelled throwing the next attack.

Same attack as the last one, Roy just barely managing to dodge.

Robert's turn. He just farted, his tail lifting as he did so. "Gross."

Roy's turn, as the pre-final attack was launched. "This is your final chance to back down!"

A bunch of pumpkins scrolled across the board, Roy very quickly jumped between them.

Robert's turn. "Pump- Consider what your doing!" Pump glared. "Hush child. I know what I'm doing." "BOTH ME AND ROY ARE TEENAGERS- YOUR JUST A CHILD- I'M O L D E R T H A N Y O U." Pump put his finger on Robert's mouth. "SSSSSSSSSh-"

Roy's turn. He seamed to have a slight easier time standing, but he had no idea if it was the effect wearing off or if he had just gotten stronger due to standing practically being a workout due to the gravity- Or possibly both.

"BEHOLD! MY SPECIAL ATTACK!" Pump yelled.

All there was a demon that was sticking out of the ground, smashing a pumpkin. "WHAT THE HECK?" Pump yelled at it. "THAT'S MY SPECIAL ATTACK!!" Roy giggled as Pump continued to yell at it. "HEY! YOU STUPID DEMON! DO YOU HEAR ME?! STOP SMASHING THAT PUMPKIN!!!" The demon began to escape.

"HEY!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!! COME BACK HERE WITH MY SPECIAL ATTACK!!!" Pump glared and sighed as Roy continued to giggle. "Ugh. No matter! I'll just use a really cool regular attack."

Pump threw the attack and Roy jumped over a bunch of pumpkins that swiped left and right, as he jumped over the pumpkins he saw that demon with the pumpkin again and a pumpkin on a skateboard. "What the hell?" He landed and saw a crap ton of pumpkins roll across the board. Roy then jumped as high as he could, he actually managed to start flying. "HUH?!"

"How are you?!" Robert asked. "I don't know-!" Roy responded still flying, meanwhile Skid was in the background, not to far off, as the cause of Roy's flying with a smile.

Roy then soared over a huge pumpkin, it was the biggest one he had ever seen in his life- It looked about the size of a house. Roy then gently flew down to the ground. "...That. WAS. AWESOME!!!!" Roy then felt a huge weight being lifted off him, his eyes and SOUL returning to normal. Then they where all flipped out of battle mode. Roy huffed. "Finally. Back to normal." Roy then flexed. "Is it just me or do my muscles look bigger?"

Robert's face immediately turned bright red and he covered his face, turning away slightly. "Little..." Roy turned to him with his arms folded, with a smirk on his lips. "Why's your face red loser~?" He teased.

Robert was now on the ground, his face redder then a firetruck. "Boy..s...hot....ver..y...hot-" he just barely managed through stuttering. Roy chuckled softly, a rather smug look on his face.

That look on his face faded as he saw the now confidence lacking pumpkin kid facing away. "Man...I'm SO lame! Why did I think I'd be able to stop you...I'm only 8...I'm so weak...I'll never be a member of the Royal Guard...I'll never be like my hero...I've failed to be like you Kevin..."

Roy felt really bad for the small pumpkin, he walked behind him and got down on his knees so he's at his height. "I'm sorry that you never got to complete your dream...But I know you can do it one day! Just not now. And that's okay! I have a dream to, to be a transsexual man, right now I'm only a transgender one." Pump looked intrigued and slightly confused as Roy continued. "Anyways my dream is not nearly as big as yours but it's a dream nothingless..." He glared slightly as he said that. "But what I'm trying to say is no matter what the dream, all dreams are valid! Some just take longer then others..."

Roy stood up. "I know your on the right track. You just got to be patient." Pump smiled. "Your right about your dream being dumb-" "UH. NOT WHAT I SAID." "-But thank you normal! The great Pump shale become the leader of the royal guard!!" Roy smiled. "You don't have any friends other then your BFF right?" "Yeah-" "Well...How bout me and Robert be your friends?" Robert waved with his tail from behind Roy.

Pump thought for a minute. "I guess I'll make an allowance for you two. Wowee!! I have more friends! Who knew all I needed to do to make more friends is to give them bad puzzles and then fight them! You taught me a lot normal- sorry, Roy. I give you both permission to pass! Anyways, I'll be at me and Skid's clubhouse! Feel free to visit anytime! NYEH HYEH HYEH HYEH HYEH HYEH!" Pump then started spooky dancing and then somehow spooky dance-flew over their heads. All Roy has to respond to that was a 'what the actual f***' expression.

"Why don't we visit him?" Robert suggested. Roy shrugged. "Sure." The two boys then walked back down the path and through the town, before they found a treehouse in a snowy tree, that was oddly decorated for Halloween, the two then saw the pumpkin kid stand outside. "You came over?" He looked excited.

"I mean, why not?" Roy said with a shrug. "YAY!! PLAYDATE!" Pump then scurried up the rope ladder and quickly poked his head out of the entrance. "Come on in!" Robert had a 'seriously?' look on his face. "I don't have arms." Roy rolled his eyes. "Jump on my back." Robert hesitated a second but did so, once he did he did he very tightly rapped his legs and tail around Roy as the other teenager climbed up.

Once Roy was at the top he picked up and held Robert like a potato sack for a minute as he looked around, it was much bigger on the inside then outside, on the inside it was around the size of the interior of a house.

"Roy. Can you put me down now? All I can see is your a**. You have a really nice butt by the way." Roy's face was red as he put the other teenager down. "If you like my butt don't say it out loud." He had his arms folded as he glared, looking down at him with a beat red face.

"Hey! How bout you two stop talking about your butts and take a look around?" The two boys noticed the pumpkins shout so they decided to walk around, the place had a living room (where the ladder led) where instead of having a couch it had a huge blanket fort filled with a crap ton more blankets, pillows and Halloween themed plushies. The living room even had a TV! Actually, the ENTIRE inside was Halloween themed. "Wait. Why is everything here Halloween themed?" "Cause it's a spooky month!!" "But it's not-" Roy huffed. "Nevermind." He rolled his eyes.

Pump ran upstairs- Wait there was an upstairs?! "This is my hangout area when your ready!" Roy shrugged at he and Robert went upstairs.

Not even five minutes later Roy and Robert where running out of the room and screaming as Pump yelled "PLAYDATE PLAYDATE PLAYDATE PLAYDATE PLAYDATE PLAYDATE-" while pumpkin attacks flew out of the room and a flamethrower fired from inside. Pump noticed and just said. "Yay! Your having fun! But I guess you got to go! That was fun! Come back soon!!"

Roy quickly grabbed Robert and scrambled down the ladder. Once they where down Roy put him down and they breathed heavily. "F***. Even my power of bravery is nothing compared to that kid-"

"Yeah, he's nice and he's just a kid but NOPE- Ain't going near that again-"

Once the boys calmed Roy looked at the path to the end of Snowdin. "Come on Rob let's go." The two then walked out of Snowdin and into the Waterfall area.

Spookytale: Chapter 4: Snowdin forest

Also this chapter is a rather long one because I glued together TWO chapters from the AO3 version...

Once Roy stepped out the door he found himself in another dark place, just like when he fell, but this time it was at the exit of the Ruins. He looked down and saw that goddamn doll again. He glared at it. "What do you want."

Happy Fella had a smug look on it's face. "Clever. Veeeeeeryyy clever. You think you're really smart don't you?" Roy glared as the doll continued. "In this world it's KILL or BE KILLED."

Roy folded his arms. "It does not HAVE to be that way!" "Yes it does! Ya can't just play by ya own rules!!! But anyways, I bet ya feel great for sparing everyone you came across...But what will you do when you come across a relentless killer?" Roy went to answer but was interrupted. "You'll die, you'll die and you'll die. Until you tire of trying."

Roy growled at it, flashing his sharp teeth menacingly (Spookytale Roy has fangs-). "I'm a hell of a lot stronger then I look." He replied rather truthfully. Happy Fella flipped invisible long hair. "Ah yes, and I'm Beyoncé." It mocked just to get under his skin.

Roy flipped it off and walked around it. "HEY! ONE, DID YOU HAVE TO FLIP THE BIRD AT ME?! AND TWO I'M TALKING TO YOU!" Roy ignored it. "WOULD YOU KILL OUT OF FRUSTRATION?" Roy continued to ignore it.

Happy Fella glared and retreated away. Roy looked back and looked annoyed. "Good. I thought that damn thing was annoying anyway."

He walked through the doorway at the end, purple doors shutting behind him.

Roy looked ahead of him, he saw a huge snowball in front of where he left, not in front of the doors but it was there. He saw he was in some sort of snowy forest, strangely it was not THAT cold really, much colder then the Ruins but it felt more like Fall temperature then Winter. Roy began to walk on the snowy path through the forest.

As he walked he saw a heavy tree branch, he could have picked it up but he chose not to, he continued and he jumped as he heard creepy child giggling and a loud SNAP noise. Roy whipped his head around and saw the tree branch was broken. He then continued, picking up his pace slightly.

Roy got to a badly gated bridge, the bars where way to wide to stop anyone. He was about to go through but he was stopped. "Hi mister!" He heard someone say, he turned around and saw nobody. "Down here." He looked down and saw a kid about the same size as a Fruity Pebbles cereal box, the kid wore a skeleton 'costume' and a blue jacket over it.

"Oh, hi?" "Hi! I'm Skid! What's your name?" "I'm Leroy but just Roy is fine." "You must be the boy mom was talking about earlier." "Yeah, she told me about you too. That's a cute costume you have on."

Skid tilted his head. "Costume? This isn't a costume, I mean it looks like one but it isn't, I'm a little skeleton boy." "Oh-" "Hey, is it true your a normal that fell down from the world above?"

"Yes..." "That's cool! And it must be nice being able to see the above world." "Well, it's not THAT great, but yeah, it can be pretty at times." "Hey! My best friend is looking for a normal, he wants to turn it into the royal guard so he can become a member. To be honest I think it's really cool but I don't think they allow kids..." Roy looked slightly scared. "Turn me in? But I did not do anything wrong!" "Yeah, but you have the last SOUL our prince needs to break the barrier."

"The prince?"

"Well, technically he's the king because his father and mother passed, but despite him being officially re-crowned as king we still call him the prince because he's only a teenager."

"And he rules the entire underground?! How old of a teenager is he?!"

"Yup, and I think he's around 15-16, around how old you look."

Roy was speechless, the little skeleton was indeed right about his age but what shocked him was that a kid HIS AGE was running AN ENTIRE WORLD.

Roy shook it off. "Well, I'm going to break the barrier." "How?" "Well, now that I know there are 6 other SOULS I'll probably just hold the others and kick it down." "Seams legit. Okay, lets go. I'll help you hide from my friend!" Skid scurried on all fours through the bars of the gate, Roy following.

"Quick! Behind that conveniently shaped lamp!" Skid pointed at a small lamp that would hide him himself but not Roy. "How the hell am I supposed to fit behind that?" He then dove into some snow.

A small Pumpkin kid, the exact same size as Skid, wearing a red scarf and blue boots with gold trimming walked in.

"Hi Skid! Did you find any normals yet?"

"No. Sorry Pump."

"Awww man... I wanted to become a member of a royal guard..."

"It's okay, I'm sure you'll find one real soon!"

"Okay...Let me know if you find one!" The pumpkin kid ran off.

"Thank you..." Roy told Skid. "Your welcome stripes!" Roy let this slide and got out of the snow. "Hey, my best friend would love to at least SEE a normal once. Maybe you could let him "capture" you to make him feel better." Roy smiled softly. "I'll consider it."

Roy was then off and there where two paths in front of him. He just continued to go forward, finding a box. He looked inside and saw a tough glove and a bandanna. He shut the chest and continued, the items not interesting him. "Stupid."

He walked down a path, finding the two kids again. "So as I was saying about Kevin..." The pumpkin kid started before they saw Roy. "Uhhh...Hi?" The two kids then spun, flopped, and kind of flew around. "Uhhhhh....You guys okay?"

The two kids stopped and the pumpkin gasped. "Skid, is that...? A real normal?!"

"Yes." Skid replied.

"Yay!!! Kevin's gonna be so proud of me!!" The kid fake coughed and then pointed at Roy 'heroically'. "Normal! I, the great Pump shale capture you! Then I'll deliver you to the capital! Then! Then- Then...Actually...I'm not sure what's next... Anyways. ONLY PROCEED IF YOU DARE!!! NEH HYEH HYEH HYEH!" Pump then ran off.

Roy smiled. "It's nice he has big dreams." His smile faded. "But he would not be able to complete them..."

"Yeah, but I'm his best friend so I'm supportive!" Skid made a :P face and ran off.

Roy shrugged it off and kept going, suddenly getting a strong sting of alert and getting flipped into battle mode. He looked at his opponent and saw a big-ol-bird with teeth, wearing a mask. "What the hell..."

Roy CHECKed the enemy. 'Snowdrake, 6 ATK 2 DEF. This teen comedian fights to keep a captive audience.' "Ice puns are "snow" problem." "EEEGH. Damn puns!!!" The Snowdrake threw the first attack.

Crescent moons that rapidly spun filled the bullet board. But they moved rather slowly so Roy dodged them easily.

"Your not funny. In fact your a big ol' loser." Roy sneerd.

The Snowdrake disliked that. "You normals smell like SHAT."

The next attack came, the crescents coming back, they swooped in an x like formation, but again where rather slow so Roy was able to dodge.

Roy laughed at it.

"What are ya laughing at?!?!!"

Next attack. More crescents came but they only left room for one square on the bored, Roy just stayed there.

Roy had his fun but he new this got him nowhere, despite really not wanting too he threw an ice pun. "I had the best ice pun to tell you… Problem is, it "slipped" my mind."

"I heard that one." They responded deadpan.

Next attack. Crescents swooped left and right like snakes but due to Roy's positioning they did not even come near.

Roy thought. 'Okay that did not work...Maybe I missed something...' He CHECKed again.

"Fights you in "cold" blood."

Roy then had the solution. He laughed at the joke despite not finding it funny and,

He won! Roy gained 0 EXP and 2 GOLD.

Roy was flipped out of battle mode and saw a cardboard box. There was some narration on it. 'You observe the well built sentry station, who could have built this? You wonder...' Roy rolled his eyes but kept reading. 'I bet it was that very famous little royal guardsman! (Note: not yet a very famous royal guardsman)'

Roy chuckled softly. Dream big kid... He continued on his journey.

Roy then saw a path with a station on the side, with a sign next to it. 'Absolutely NO moving!!!' Roy ignored it and kept going, right before stopping, a dog-person popping up from inside the station.

"Did something move? Was it my imagination? I can only see moving things. If something WAS moving...For example, a normal... I'll make sure it NEVER moves again!"

Roy was then suddenly flipped into battle mode.

"Really. I'm being held up by a dog?"

Roy CHECKed his opponent.

'Doggo 6 ATK 1 DEF Easily excided by movement. Hobbies include: squirrels.'

'Wait- does that mean they're hobby is chasing them, attacking them, dating them, or doing things to them I should not even legally be thinking about till I'm 18-' Roy thought.

"Don't move an inch!"

Doggo threw an attack, but this attack was light blue, not white like the others. Also, this attack was undodgeable! Roy stayed still and shielded himself with his arms, screwing his eyes shut, expecting the hit. But instead he felt just a light brush against him.

He realized, with these blue attacks, as long as he stayed still they would not hurt him.

Roy then decided to pet Doggo.

"WHAT!!! I'VE BEEN PET!!!

Doggo began to go nuts while yelling nonsense. "PET? POT? POT? POT? PAT? PAT? PAT? POT?"

While this happened the next attack came and Roy simply stayed still, once more feeling that gentle brush feeling.

Roy SPAREd and he won! He gained 0 EXP and 30 Gold.

Doggo continued to hide in the station. "S-S-S-Something pet me... Something that isn't m-m-m-moving...I'm gonna need some dog treats for this!!!" Doggo hid back into they're station.

Roy then continued on his journey, he found a huge patch of ice and two paths, he also found Skid standing there. "Oh, hi Skid."

"Hello stripes!" The little kid waved. "I just wanted to warn you, my friend has a special attack. If you see a blue attack, don't move and it won't hurt you. Here's an easy way to keep it in mind! Imagine a stop sign! Cause when you see a stop sign, you stop! And stop signs are red, so just picture a blue stop sign! So when fighting, think of blue stop signs!" "Thanks Skid but that info is a little late...I already figured that out." "Oh. Well, at least I gave you a way to remember!"

Roy smiled softly and kept going, he first slid on the ice upwards and found a snowman.

"Hello. I am a snowman." It said.

Roy jumped slightly while also thinking 'no s*** sherlock'.

"I want to see the world...But I cannot move. If you would be so kind, traveler, please...Take a piece of me and bring it very far away."

'Kind of a dumb dream but, whatever, I'm not one to judge.' He thought before responding. "Sure." "Thank you... Good luck!" Roy took a small piece of the snowman and walked back down the path, putting it in his pocket.

Roy then slid on the ice towards the right path and found the two kids standing next to a square in the ground. "I can't wait to capture the normal Skid!!! I can't wait to become a royal guard member!!" "I believe in you Pump!" "Awww, thanks Skid!"

The two then noticed Roy.

"OH-HO! The normal arrives! In order to stop you, my friend and I have set up some puzzles!"

"Oh no, whatever shale I do?" Roy said slight sarcasm in his tone as he played along.

"That's right normal! And I bet you'll find this one quite SHOCKING!"

Roy rolled his eyes.

"This is the invisible... ELECTRICTY MAZE!!! When you touch the walls of it, this orb will give you a big ol' zap!" Pump held up an orb. "Okay, you can go ahead now." Roy rose an eyebrow. "Don't I need to be holding it?" Pump looked slightly embarrassed. "Oh. Right..." The pumpkin kid then walked through the maze, leaving his footprints behind, as they all did, and gave Roy the orb. "Here ya go!" Pump then scrambled back to his starting position.

Roy then effortlessly made it through the maze.

"HOW DID YOU SOLVE IT SO FAST?!"

"Dude. We're ALL leaving footprints as we walk through the snow, your no different. Your footprints gave away the answer. You should have taken your boots off or walked around or something."

Pump looked embarrassed. "Oh-" He shook it off. "No matter! The next puzzle won't be so easy! For it is made by my friend!" Pump then ran off. "NYEH HEH HEH HEH."

Roy smiled chuckling slightly and continued. He found a person with an ice cream cart. He walked up to the person out of curiosity. "I don't understand why these aren't selling...It's the perfect weather for something cold..." The person said to themselves.

'I don't think so...Cold weather seams more like prefect weather for a hot thing...' Roy thought.

The ice cream seller noticed him. "OH! A customer! Hello! Would you like some Nice Cream? It's the frozen treat that warms your heart! Now just 15G!"

Roy was not that interested but he felt kind of bad for the person, so he grabbed 15 gold from his pocket. "Sure." He gave the person the gold and received an ice cream in a cone, it was colored blue.

"Here you go! Have a super-duper day!"

Roy smiled softly and continued on his journey, he gave the Nice Cream a small lick and smiled. It was cold but it did actually warm his heart.

He then saw the two kids again. "Hello normal! I hope your ready for the NEXT puzzle!!!"

Roy just licked the Nice Cream and rose an eyebrow. "Well, where's the puzzle?"

"It's right there!!" Pump said annoyed. "My friend did it!" He pointed at the ground.

Roy looked down and saw a paper. He picked it up and looked at it. It was a kids word search. Roy rolled his eyes and tossed it, licking the ice cream again as he did so.

"Must have been too hard for him." Pump said to Skid. "Maybe you should have done a crossword, those are easier." "NUH UH." Skid began to argue. "Crosswords are harder!"

Roy watched the two argue for a second, as he did this, he unhinged his jaw and swallowed the Nice Cream + cone whole.

Pump turned to Roy. "Normal! Will you settle this? Which is harder?! The jumble or the crossword?!"

Roy had his arms folded. "Easy, the crossword is harder, the jumble is easy."

"Un. Believable. Not you too! Crosswords are easy!!! All ya have to do is circle the entire page!"

"Is anyone gonna tell him that's not how it works?" Roy whispered to Skid. Skid just shrugged.

"NO MATTER! THE NEXT PUZZLE WILL STOP YOU! NEH HYEH HYEH HYEH!" Pump ran off."

Roy then walked to the next area. He saw a plate of burned pumpkin pieces. Roy made an 'eeegh' noise and went to continue, before he saw a SAVE star. "Well, it's been a while since I've last saved..." He touched the star, strength and bravery pulsing through him, he could not help but smile slightly, now that he was used to it, it was a real pleasant feeling.

"Now dealing with the wacky antics of a crazy pumpkin kid, makes you feel...Something? Whatever your filled with Bravery-"

Roy then continued. Once in the next area, he descended downwards, and saw spikes blocked his path. "Okay. These are annoying. Nope I ain't dealing with that crap." He went to step over them but then was flipped into battle mode.

"What now." He said, a slight growl in his tone. He then saw Lesser dog. Roy gasped. "PUPPY-!!!!!" He squealed happy in a high pitched girly voice before he coughed embarrassed. "I mean. Dog." He said in an unnatural deep voice.

Roy may be a boy, he was tough, he was very strong, he probably ate rocks, and he had a tough skin. But he still squealed like his old-cut-off-self when he saw a puppy, he had a huge soft-spot for the critters.

Roy could not help himself and went to pet it. He barely lifted his hand and Lesser Dog got excided, Roy could have sworn he saw their neck stretch a bit.

Lesser dog did a tiny yap and threw the first attack. It was a blue spear. Roy stayed still.

Roy then pet it again and SPAREd.

He won! He gained 0 EXP and 20 GOLD.

Roy then stepped over the spikes and continued. He crossed a small bridge and went to go downwards.

Before being stopped by two dogs with axes in hoods. Roy rose his hands in defense as the dogs walked up to him. "What's that smell?" The male one said. "(Where is that smell?)" The female one said. "If your a smell..." The male started. "(Identify yoursmellf!)" The female finished.

'They must be husband and wife.' Roy thought because he did remember seeing a sign that said 'warning: dog wedding'. The dogs then ran around sniffing everything right before ending up right in front of Roy.

"Hmm...Here's that weird smell... It makes me want to eliminate." "(Eliminate YOU!)"

Roy was then flipped into battle mode.

The two dogs now had their hoods removed and had their axes in a formation to protect each other.

Roy CHECKd the male one (since he could only check one of the two at a time).

Dogamy 6 ATK 4 DEF. Husband of Dogaressa. Knows only what he smells.

"Don't touch my hot dog." "(He means me.)"

The first attack came, two axes chopped in the bullet board. Roy stood in the middle, before quickly zooming to the right, then back to the middle.

Roy than CHECKd Dogaressa.

Dogaressa 6 ATK 4 DEF. This puppy finds her hubby lovely. SMELLS ONLY?

"Lets kick normal tail!!" "(Do normals have tails?)"

The next attack came, two dogs stood at the left and right of Roy. The left one barked three times, a circle of floating hearts, some white the others blue spun forward each bark. Roy quickly zoomed in-between them.

Roy had an idea, he then laid down in the dirt and rolled around in it. He then sniffed himself. "Well, now I smell like a weird puppy." He murmured to himself.

"No. 2 Nuzzle Champs '98!!" "(Of course we where second.)"

Next attack came. It was the dog bark-loop attack again.

Roy quickly zoomed out of the way. He waved his hand in front of their faces and they re-sniffed him.

"What! Smells like a..." "(Are you actually a little puppy???)"

Next attack. Same as the last attack.

Roy pet Dogamy.

"Wow!!! Pet by another pup!!!" "(Well. Don't leave me out!)"

Next attack, the axe attack. Roy quickly zipped to the left and right.

Roy then pet Dogaressa.

"What about me......." "(A dog that pets dogs... Amazing!)"

Roy then SPAREd and, he won! He got 0 EXP and 40 Gold.

Roy was flipped out of battle mode.

"Dogs can pet other dogs???" "(A new world has opened up for us...)" "Thanks, weird puppy!" The dogs scurried off.

Roy smiled and dusted himself off quick. He then descended down the path. He saw two X's in the snow and a button. He looked at a sign and saw that it told him to turn all X's into O's. Roy then stepped on an X, turning it into an O, and did so with the other. He than pressed the button and proceeded.

Roy then saw a bunch of X's in the ground.

Pump noticed him and scurried up to him. "Normal! Hmmm... How do I say this... You where taking a long time to arrive, so... I decided to improve this puzzle... By making the snow look like pumpkins! "

"Nope." Roy simply said walking over the spikes. "HEY! NORMAL!! NORMAL!!! THAT'S NOT ALLOWED!!!!"

Roy walked to the next room and saw a tile puzzle. But Skid and Pump where already there?

"Wait... How did you... Nevermind."

"Well! Normal! You can't cheat at this puzzle! Welcome to the tile puzzle!" Pump did jazz hands. Roy rolled his eyes. "Oh no. What does it do?" He said deadpan.

"Well, this puzzle was made by the great doctor, former exterminator, Dexter! And ya see those tiles." "Yeah?" "Well, once I flip this here switch," Pump had his hand on a switch. "all the tiles will become...Picture a drumroll in your head please...Colorful!!!" Roy rolled his eyes. "But that's not the ONLY thing it'll do! Each color has a different function! Red tiles are impassable, you can't walk on em'. Yellow tiles are electric! They zap you! Green tiles are annoying. They make you have to FIGHT someone by letting out an annoying noise. Oranges tiles smell like oranges, although they should smell like pumpkins in my opinion. Blue tiles are water tiles! But they'll also zap ya if their next to a yellow tile! Also, the water is filled with, PIRAHNAS! They'll bite you if you smell like oranges! Purple tiles are soapy tiles! You'll slide on over to the next tile! You'll also smell like lemons due to the soap being lemon scented. Which the piranhas don't like. So purple and blue are okay! Actually...Now that I think about it...Why aren't the yellow ones lemony... Well finally, there are: Pink tiles! They...Do nothing. Stomp on em all ya want."

Skid looked kind of concerned. "Uhhh...Pump? Are you sure that's not to complex for him?" Pump scoffed. "Nah. He'll be fine. Right normal?"

Roy removed his hat and ran his hand through his hair, it falling down to his lower back, attempting to process all this. He then hid his hair under his hat again, it going back to the 'normal' length and he spoke up." "...I mean...I guess???"

Pump smirked at Skid. "See? He's fine!" He turned to Roy "Also, dude you need a haircut-"

Roy glared. "Well excuse me for having parents that won't let me cut it short like I want it again! Why do you think I wear the damn baseball cap..."

Pump then activated the puzzle.

The puzzle tiles flashed rapidly...Only for it to be completely pink and red tiles. Pump exasperated ran off with a loud "UGH." Roy then simply walked across the puzzle. "Well. He tried..." Skid said.

Roy then followed him. He could not help but feel bad for the pumpkin kid. But he found himself in a room with a huge patch of ice with a bunch of X's to turn into O's. Roy sighed. "Well, I don't see any spikes to just simply step over, so...Guess I'll have to do this." He temporarily removed his brass knuckles and cracked his knuckles and put them back on.

Roy stepped forward and slid forward, changing the first X into an O, he then slid upward and changed the next one. He went to slide to the left next but ended up sliding forward. "AAAAAAAGGH-" He screeched as he fell.

Roy grunted as he fell into the snow below. He stood up and dusted himself off. He folded his arms and scowled. "Okay, puzzle. Be an *Honk*." His cuss being censored. "Okay. Of all useless features a world could have. WHY THE *Nope sound effect* WOULD IT *Quack noise* CENSORE PEOPLE SAYING *Taco bell noise* LIKE *Classic censored beep* OR *Baa noise*?! HUH?!?!" Roy saw a small sign and read it out loud. "Because Undertale is rated T for Teen on Xbox and so is this AO3 work. But if it makes ya feel better you can say Hell or Damn!" Roy just got confused. "What???"

Roy sighed. "Okay, I can't get side tracked...I'm on a mission." He then walked on the path upward back at the starting point of the now reset puzzle.

Roy stood at the bottom and slid forwards, changing the first one. He then slid forward again, changing the second one. Roy then had an idea and started sliding in a box formation, the box shape he slid in slowly getting smaller. Once he was done it was completely solved. "Ha! Take that ya stupid puzzle!" He smirked and did a clean straight shot to the button, pressing it and slid forward through the path now nearly out of the forest.

Roy walked though a field of snowballs with a dog house next to it. As he walked through the field he saw something in the snow. "Huh?" He bent over the snow and dug through it, finding 30 Gold. Roy took it and continued, Right before seeing a tail sticking out of one, he looked at it curious. A huge fluffy white dog in a suit of armor suddenly popped out of the snow. "What the-?!" Roy was then flipped into battle mode.

Roy CHECKd his enemy.

Greater Dog. 6 ATK 4 DEF. It's so excided that it thinks fighting is just play.

Greater Dog threw the first attack. A spear that flashed blue and white and swiped across the board. "WHAT THE HELL?!?!" Roy then screeched in pain as it hit. He looked at his HP, 18/20.

Roy did not know what to do so he just ignored it.

Greater Dog inched closer and threw the next attack. It was the same attack as the last one. Roy quickly ran before being stopped by the bullet board wall. He shielded himself and hoped for the best, the brush feeling happened and at least he knew how to get past it now.

Roy pet Greater Dog. Greater dog then curled into his lap, nearly crushing him. "Okay buddy. Little much there-" He managed to wheeze as he pet it more. Greater Dog then fell asleep, only to wake up five seconds later.

Roy stood up and made a small snowball in the snow. He then threw it. "Go boy! Or... Girl? Whatever. Go get it!" The snow just splatted on the ground. Greater Dog then came back with a huge amount of snow and dropped it in front of him.

"Uhhhh... Good boy? Or girl? Whichever."

Greater Dog then laid at his feet. Roy sat down and pet it a few times until it flopped over.

Roy then SPAREd and, he won! He gained 0 EXP and 40 Gold.

Roy was flipped out of battle mode and Greater Dog walked away. Once it was gone Roy continued.

Roy was then at the final bridge, once he crossed he'd be out of the forest! He then crossed it most of the way but he was stopped.

"NORMAL!" Pump yelled at him. "This is your final challenge! BEHOLD! THE GAUNTLET OF DEADLY TERROR!!" Roy rolled his eyes. "Isn't that name a little on the nose?"

"Wow sassy much..." Pump then pressed a button and two spears, one from the top the other on the bottom, a fire cannon at the bottom, a mace at the top, a dog on a rope at the top, and a normal cannon at the bottom all popped up.

Roy folded his arms. He was not intimated.

"WHEN I SAY THE WORD, EVERYTHING WILL ACTIVATE!!! THINGS WILL SWING, THINGS WILL LIGHT THINGS ON FIRE AND-!!! And!! and... I DON'T KNOW BUT YOU WONT MAKE IT THROUGH!!!"

Roy rolled his eyes. "Okay."

"GET READY!! I'M! ABOUT! TO! DO! IT!!"

Roy still looked bored. "It does not look very activated."

"I'M... ABOUT TO ACTIVATE IT NOW!!"

Skid looked concerned. "It still does not look too activated..."

"Well, uh...Uh... This challenge!! It seams...A little to complicated for the normal! Yeah, that's it! He might get killed immediately! We just want to CAPTURE him not KILL him! AWAY WITH THIS!!" Pump pressed the button again and it all deactivated.

"ANYWAYS THIS WAS ANOTHER VICTORY FOR PUMP! NEH!! Hyeh!! hyeh???" Pump then ran off.

Roy then finished crossing the bridge. "I don't know what my friend is going to do...But if I where you...I'd understand blue attacks." Skid told him as he finished the next part of his journey.

Roy saw lights and a banner ahead and walked forward.

Spookytale: Chapter 3: New Home

Roy then head into the house, it was bigger on the inside because it was the size of a standard house and on the outside it looked like it would only have one room and that's it. Roy couldn't help but smile softly, he felt welcome and safe here.

"Can you smell that?" Lila asked him. Roy nodded, he did pick up a rather nice scent in the air. "Surprise! It's a butterscotch-cinnamon pie! I'd thought we'd celebrate your arrival! My son and his friend would have been here too but they're busy with 'kid stuff' and I don't want to bother them." Roy smiled. "That's really nice."

"Well, I want you to have a nice time living here, if you want to that is." Roy smiled. "I'd like that." "Well, in that case, I have another surprise for you..." She walked away, Roy following. They stood in front of a door. "This is it, a room of your own, I hope you like it!" Roy smiled, slight tears in his eyes. "I do...Thank you."

Lila sniffed the air. "Is something burning? I better check, make yourself at home Leroy." Lila then scurried off into the kitchen. Roy smiled once more and went inside the room, he took his backpack off and set it down at the end of the bed, he also removed his brass knuckles and put them in his pocket. He looked around and saw almost everything was a reddish-orange color. Roy stretched and laid on the bed to take a nap, he did spend the entire night climbing the mountain, plus wondered around so he was rather tired.

Roy was passed out for 6-7 hours, it was supposed to be a nap but it turned into sleep, when he woke up he smiled. "Oh...It wasn't a dream?" Normally he would say that negatively but, he said it in a positive way because he did not want this all to be just a dream. He wanted to stay in a new world, away from those monsters that where blood related to him.

Roy stretched feeling refreshed and saw a few pieces of pie on a plate on the floor a few feet in front of the bed. He grabbed a ziplock baggie he found in his pocket earlier and put one of the pieces in there, he figured he should save at least one piece for later. He ate the other two though. Once he was finished he put the plate and fork in the kitchen sink and saw Lila in the living room.

He came over to her. "Hi." "Oh! Hello Roy, you where out for a while, you actually missed my son coming back and going out again to play with his friend. And I just wanted to let you know, I'm glad to have someone else here with me, my son does live with me because he's only 7 but he's almost always out with his little friend. There are so many stories I want to share with you." Roy looked curious. "What's the history of this world?"

"Well, long ago both specials and normals lived in harmony but then the normals got greedy and we broke into war, but the normals, despite not having any powers, defeated us and we where locked here underground by a barrier. The only way to brake it is to use 7 SOULS from normals. We've been trapped down here for years..."

"That's sad..." "Yeah, we dream of escaping and living in harmony once more....But that is just a dream. Besides it's not too bad down here..."

Roy thought for a minute. "This is unfair..." He then came to a conclusion, put his brass knuckles on and clenched his fists. "How do I leave the ruins?" He wanted to stay, he felt safe, protected and loved here but he had to leave. This was unfair and everyone in this world deserved freedom. He had to go and brake the barrier.

Lila looked upset for some reason. "Excuse me for a minute..." She then left, Roy following.

The two head down the flight of stairs Roy never thought about, Lila turning around to face him. "You wish to know how to leave huh? Well ahead is the only exit to the ruins, I'm gonna destroy it." Roy dashed after her. "You can't do that!" "Look, Roy, please go back upstairs." Roy shook his head. "No." "Child. If you know what's best for you go back upstairs, I won't ask you again. All the children meet the same fate. Death."

Roy glared and proceeded. He had to do this.

They where at the door and Lila got into a battle stance. "You want to leave so bad? Prove to me your strong enough to survive!!"

Roy was then flipped into battle mode, it still kind of catching him off-guard.

Roy went to ACT and talk to her, but he could not think of any conversation topics.

Lila threw her first attack, giant hands swooped into the bullet bored, flinging small fireballs as they swooped. Roy quickly dove out of the way, nearly getting hit.

Roy decided to SPARE, because he really did not want to flee or hit her.

The next attack came, fireballs zig-zagged across the bored, Roy decided to stay still and they luckily did not hit him.

Roy SPAREd once more, Lila shooting the next attack. Roy stuck to the lower corner and the attack missed.

Roy SPAREd again, the hand attack coming back. Roy went to get out of the way but one of them hit him. "AAAAGH-" He screeched, he saw his SOUL flash for a few seconds and he now saw a small red/yellow bar in the corner of his eye that read: 18/20. Roy assumed this was his HP as if he was in a videogame.

Roy SPAREd again, this time Lila looked confused. The zig-zag fireball attack happening, Roy stood upward a bit and they zoomed past without hitting him.

Roy SPAREd again. "What are you doing?" Lila asked shooting the next attack. "Doing as you told me, ACT/MERCY not FIGHT." Roy said as he dodged.

Roy SPAREd again. "Yeah but here you need to attack or run away!" She shot the next attack, it being weaker, but Roy got hit due to being slightly off guard, he hissed at the pain as the HP bar now said 15/20.

Roy SPAREd, Lila looked kind of guilty. "Roy, what are you trying to prove...?" The next attacks she threw did not even come NEAR Roy. "That you don't always have to FIGHT or run."

"Roy, you need to fight me or leave!"

"No."

"Stop it."

"No."

"Stop looking at me that way."

"What way?"

"With determination in your eyes."

"Well, I don't have DETERMINATION. I have BRAVERY."

"Leroy, just go away!"

"No."

Lila continued to stay silent while the attacks that did not come near him kept coming as he continued SPAREing.

She sighed before finally talking, the attacks completely stopping. "I know you want to go home but..."

"Home? Is... that why you think I'm trying to leave?"

"Well... Yeah, that's why all the 6 others left..."

"Well, that's not why I'M trying to leave. I'm trying to go and destroy the barrier."

"Destroy the barrier? Oh, Leroy...There's no hope for that...We all gave up on that dream a long time ago..."

Roy clenched his fists. "I still got to try. Nobody here deserves this."

"But how? It requires 7 normals SOULS. You only have one SOUL."

"I'll think of something."

Lila sighed as Roy felt the topsy-turvy feeling and the world was normal again.

"Well...If you really think you can do it...Go ahead...I wont stop you...But, when you do leave...Please...Don't come back....I hope you understand...It's not because I'm mad or disappointed or anything like that, I'm not, I'm actually quite proud your attempting this selfless mission, I've actually kind of wanted a second son but, it's for your own safety for you to never return."

Roy nodded, slight tears in his eyes. "Well, I guess this is goodbye, and hopefully not the last..." He went to the door. Lila stopped him for a minute. "Wait, Roy?" Roy faced her and she hugged him tight for a minute, Roy smiling softly, hugging back. "Goodbye Leroy..."

She let him go and dashed down the hall, stopping and looking back at him for a minute, then ran presumably back upstairs.

Roy took a breath of bravery. This broke his heart but he promised himself to do this so he opened the doors and stepped foot into his adventure.

Spookytale: Chapter 2: Ruins

REMINDER:

Before you dive into the fic: No this is not just for this ONE chapter, it’s for THE ENTIRE FIC

Rating: T

Warnings: Swearing, Mentioned homophobia, Mentioned abuse, Mentioned NASTY abuse, Mentioned Death (Warnings may change)

Roy begin walking up the stairs and found himself in a pinkish-purple hall with a dark colored path. "Welcome to your new home Roy. Allow me to tell you about the Ruins and how they work!" Lila then stepped on some buttons and flipped a switch, causing the once closed door to open. "The ruins are full of puzzles, so get used to the sight of them cause there is gonna be a lot-"

Roy had his arms folded and looked bored mixed with slight grumpiness. "O k." Lila walked through the doorway, Roy following. Once they where in the next room, the path to the next room was blocked by spikes. "Now, child, to get past this room you need to-"

*Click*

"Already "solved" it." Roy said already at the other side of the room, the spikes gone. "How did you-" "Lady, you LABLED what switches I needed to press. Plus this was EASY as hell."

"Well in my defense, I'm a mother of a 7 year old and I was expecting a little kid to fall down not a teenager-"

The two head to the next room, there being a single dummy there. "As a 'normal' living in our world of 'specials' humans with powers and/or monster like features, you need to be prepared because you might get attacked, practice on the dummy."

Roy rolled his eyes but walked up to the dummy, that sound playing again and the topsy-turvy feeling happening once more as the world went to 'battle mode'. Roy socked it. "Ah, ah ah- Child the dummies are not for fighting- You don't want to hurt anyone do you?" Lila had slight concern in her voice.

Roy felt kind of bad, but not really. "Sorry, my first instinct was to attack-" "It's fine, but you should learn how to settle things peacefully, without FIGHTing. Instead, try ACTing, it's the peaceful way to do it and nobody gets hurt!"

"Fine." Roy looked at the dummy. "Uh....Hello!" Roy looked like he was trying to hold something back. "LOSER." He yelled at it. The world then flipped back to normal and Lila looked pleased mixed with some concern. "Okay, maybe next time don't call someone a 'loser' but nice job! The next room awaits!"

Lila continued to the next room Roy following.

"This next room has a more difficult puzzle, I wonder if you can solve it?" Lila walked to the end of the room. Roy went to follow but then a strong sting of alert struck through him and he was flipped into battle mode.

Roy looked at the now black and white opponent and saw, a frog. A stupid frog. Roy took a breath through his nose pissed off. "I'm stopped by a FROG. Seriously?!" He looked annoyed and spoke to himself through his teeth. "Remember Leroy, ACT don't FIGHT. And no matter how much you want to, don't call it a loser."

Roy forced a smile trying to look nice. "Hey, um...Frog... Nice...Weather we're having..." The Frogget did not understand but appreciated his conversation attempt anyway, even if it was crappy. Lila then came in, glaring at the Frogget, the Frogget then fled scared of her.

The world once more went back to normal and the two went to the next puzzle, it was a huge bridge of spikes. Roy tapped on her. "How tf am I supposed to get past this?!" Lila looked slightly worried. "Well, this is the puzzle but...Here, take my hand for a minute." Roy wanted to complain but he sucked it up and did so.

Lila then guided him through a specific path on this bridge, the spikes on the tiles of this path retracting before they stepped on them. Roy could not help but look in slight awe as they made it across to the other side.

"Puzzles seam just a little too dangerous for now."

They walked to the next room, it being just a long hall. "You have done excellent my child, now for your next test, forgive me for this." She then ran away. Roy glared. "Oh no. Whatever shall I do?" He said in a mock pathetic voice. "Hrmph. Can't believe she ditched me." He murmured in his normal voice. He walked down the hall and Lila popped out from behind a pillar.

"Don't worry! I was only behind this pillar all along! I wanted to test your independence!" Roy folded his arms. "Ah yes, I'm SO dependent on people." He said sarcastically. Lila looked annoyed. "Again. I was expecting a small child cause those things normally fall down, not a bratty teenager."

Roy looked apologetic. "Sorry, it's just I'm never in the best mood because I have a bad life and I literally JUST ended up in A WHOLE OTHER WORLD."

"That's understandable, well, I have to go attend to some important business now so you'll have to stay on your own." Roy nodded. "Okay." Lila thought for a minute. "I have an idea, I'll give you a cell phone, that way you can call if you need anything." Lila handed Roy a phone. "Be good, okay?" Roy nodded. "Thanks."

Lila left the room and once she was completely gone Roy smirked. "Yeah, like I'm gonna stay here alone." He then walked to the next room, his phone immediately ringing. He answered. "Hello." "Hello? This is Lila." "I know. Your the only number on this phone." "Anyways- You have not left the room, have you?" Roy had a funny looking look on his face and lied. "No-"

"Good, there are a few puzzles ahead I have yet to explain. It would be dangerous to try and solve them alone." Roy rolled his eyes and thought: 'oh please, if I encounter another puzzle just like the spike bridge I'll F***ing SWIM across the moat under it.'

"Be good alright?" "Alright." Roy hung up. He began exploring the room he was in, doorways to three other rooms. He checked out the north one first, he found a bowl of candy, with a note that said: take one. "Well, it does say take one." Roy then reached into the bowl and grabbed one peace putting it into his pocket. He then left the room, and went to check out the other room but then he was stung with alert and was flipped into battle mode.

He looked at his opponent and saw another Frogget. "Again? Ugh." He took a breath. "Hello frog. Umm, you look....Not like a loser?" The Frogget did not understand but was flattered anyway. "Ribbit."

A frog-bullet started leaping around the bullet board and Roy quickly scrambled to get out of the way. Once the attack was over, Roy decided to show MERCY and spared it, making him win the fight with 0EXP and 2Gold. The world flipped back to normal and Roy continued.

He found himself in a hallway with a cracked floor. He very lightly stepped on that floor and he fell down screaming. He grunted as he hit the floor. "Well at least the leaf's broke my fall..." He dusted himself off and looked for a way out, finding a doorway. He walked through and somehow teleported to the other side of the cracked floor. "Wait, how did that-?!"

"...Nevermind." He shook it off and continued. In the next room he saw that there was a wall of spikes, blocking his path and a single rock and a single trigger. Roy rolled his eyes. "Oh no, how shale I ever solve this?" He said sarcastically before his phone rang. He picked it up. "Hello." "Hello? This is Lila-" "I know you don't need to announce yourself, I'm familiar with your voice at this point." "Oh- Sorry- Force of habit- But for no reason, what do you preferer? Cinnamon or Butterscotch?"

Roy remembered one time when he was six he snorted almost an entire bottle of cinnamon and was hacking non-stop from it for 2 hours- Roy, horrified from the memory answered. "Butterscotch- Definitely butterscotch-"

"Okay. Just wanted to know." Lila hung up, right before calling again. "Sorry but, I forgot to ask. You don't hate cinnamon do you? Would you turn up your nose if you found it on your plate?"

"Well, I had a bad experience with the stuff in the past as a little kid but as long as it's not in it's normal dust form it should be fine."

"Okay, I understand, thanks for telling me. And thanks for being patent." She hung up again.

Roy rolled his eyes and shoved the stone onto the platform, the spikes going away. He then went to go to the next room, before receiving another phonecall. "What now?" He said before answering. "Hello." "Hi, sorry but I wanted to ask you, do you have any food allergies?" "Not that I know of. Why do you ask?" "Oh, no reason." She hung up.

Roy thought it was weird but continued to the next room which had a huge chunk of cracked floor. Roy examined it and saw some areas of the floor where less-cracked than others so he stepped on those spots, slowly yet surely making it across to the next room, it was just like the rock room but with three not one.

"Seriously? This again..." Roy moved the first two rocks and went to move the third one, but it yelled at him. "WHOA there partner! Who said you can push me around?" Roy growled a menacing look in his eyes. "I did." He then kicked it and proceeded. "YOU ARE NOT NICE!" the rock yelled at him as he left.

Roy walked through a hall that had a table with really old cheese on it on one end and another SAVE star on the other. He touched the star, strength and bravery rushing through his veins as his eyes and SOUL glowed once more.

"Starting to become much more independent and much stronger in a brand new world fills you with BRAVERY."

Roy let go back to normal and went ahead to the next room. Only to find a clown blocking his path. "Seriously?" He attempted to talk to it. "Hello? Would you move? Please? Maybe?" The clown just made a weird 'EhEHeHeHEHEhe' noise and did not budge.

Roy cracked his knuckles. "Well. I tried being nice. But looks like I got to move you by FORCE." He snapped. The world flipped into battle mode. Roy was about to beat the smackerdoodles out of the clown but stopped as he remembered to ACT not FIGHT. He choked down his anger and decided to be smart about this.

He thought about it, what if it would let him move if he told it jokes? He thought that was an awful idea but he did not really have a choice. He thought of the most awful jokes he's heard online. "What’s Whitney Houston’s favorite type of coordination? HAAAAND EEEEEEEEEYYYYEEE!"

The clown did not laugh but it seamed to approve. Balloons then started to fill the bullet board. Roy squirmed around in an attempt to get away, he just barley got out without getting hit.

"I bought some shoes from a drug dealer. I don’t know what he laced them with, but I was tripping all day!"

The clown still did not laugh but it seamed to approve once more.

This time nothing filled the bullet board for some odd reason on the clowns turn but this gave Roy the time to conclude that the jokes where working.

"What does a nosey pepper do? It gets jalapeño business!" Roy gagged at these awful jokes that flew out of his mouth but he did not have a choice really.

The clown did it's shreaky laugh-gibberish as if to say 'do another!'.

"How do you make holy water? You boil the hell out of it."

"EhEheHeHEHEHEHe- (I have one, "Don’t challenge Death to a pillow fight. Unless you’re prepared for the reaper cushions")"

Roy fake laughed, he thought the joke was awful but he thought that if he didn't laugh the clown might kill him.

The world flipped back to normal, the clown letting Roy past. He ran faster then you could SAY clown.

Roy continued his walk through the ruins, passing rooms with colored switches (which he passed), before finally making it to a big room with a tree.

Lila came into the room, not noticing the teenager. "Oh dear, that took longer than I thought." She walked closer and went to call Roy right before seeing him in front of her. She ran up to him. "How did you get here? With all the dangerous puzzles? Are you hurt?"

"They where childs play and I was brave. And luckily no."

"I guess you coming to me was my fault. It was irresponsible to attempt to surprise you." "What surprise?" "Well I can't hide it any longer, come now Roy!" Lila guided him to a small house up ahead, going inside.

Before Roy went inside he saw another SAVE star. He touched it the pleasant strength and bravery rushing through him once more.

"This small neat house inside the ruins is the next step of your adventure, it fills you with BRAVERY."

Spookytale: Chapter 1: Welcome to the underground!

Roy woke up and groaned. "uuuuhgh my head..." He rubbed his head and looked around, he saw he landed on a bed of flowers. He staggered upright and dusted himself off. He checked to be sure he still had his backpack on, it was still there with all the contains in there. "Good." He sighed in relief.

Roy then heard a giggling noise. He quickly put the brass knuckles on and twirled around with his hands in fists, ready to defend himself. "Down here tallie." Roy looked down and saw a doll, "What the...?"

"Howdy! I'm happy fella!" The doll winked with it's tongue sticking out a star seemingly floating up as it did so. Roy just looked at it with a 'what the f*** face'. He removed his hat and ran his hand through his hair. "Alright. I must be dreaming or something..." He put his cap back on and folded his arms.

"Your new to the underground aren't cha'? Someone aught to teach you how things work little lady!" Roy growled. "One. I'm like, 10x your size and 2. I. Am. A. Man." Happy fella had a very very slight apologetic look. "Well, I'm mean but I don't disrespect pronouns! Let me rephrase that- Someone aught to teach you how things work little boy!" Roy looked slightly annoyed. "Still annoyed but that's better. Thank you."

"Well, time for the lesson! Ready? Here we go!"

Roy heard an odd sound and suddenly felt like the world beneath him just flipped despite his feet being firmly planted onto the ground. Once the feeling was over the world was completely black and white, the only color being from a heart that floated in front of his chest, it was amber and was glowing, it seamed to have a heartbeat that was in synch with his own.

"Welcome to battle mode! See that heart? That's your SOUL. The very cumulation of your being!" Roy began moving around, the heart following. He found that in 'battle mode' he had limited space to move, being blocked by an invisible wall. Roy shot the doll the stank eye.

"What? Don't look at me like that! Anyways, your SOUL starts off weak but can grow stronger if you gain LV!"

"LV?"

"LV stands for LOVE! You want some LOVE don't you?"

Roy glared. "Well, I want love from my parents but from you not really..."

Happy fella ignored the teenager. "Don't worry, I'll share some with you!" It made that stupid winky face again. Roy scrunched his nose, glaring, sensing something was very wrong. "Thanks but... no thanks."

"I insist! Down here, love is shared though, little white, friendliness pellet's! Move around and catch as many as you can!" It threw an attack at him.

Roy snarled and dodged. "I said I don't want your 'love'. F***ing respect my boundaries!"

Happy fella looked slightly annoyed "Think ya missed them there bud'-" "I AM NOT YOUR "BUD"." "But I know you want it so, lets try again!" It threw a second attack, only for Roy to dodge it again.

Apon seeing this Happy fella was really annoyed now. "Is this a joke?! Are you braindead?!?!" "No. Loser." Roy flipped the bird at it. Happy Fella growled at him. "JUST. RUN. INTO. THE. BULLETS!!!!" It quickly looked at it's text and changed 'bullets' to 'friendliness pellets'. It throwing a third attack.

Roy looked smug. "I knew there was something wrong with you." He said as he dodged.

Happy fella's face suddenly turned to something horrific. "y O u K n E w A l L a L o N g D i D n T y O u?" "Yup." Roy popped the 'P'. "h O w?" "When you've been abused as much as I have you'll develop a stronger sense of danger and it'll be easier to tell if something is very wrong." "o H t H a T s S a D b U t A n Y w A y S y O u J u S t W a N t E d T o S e E m E s U f F e R d I d I n T y O u?" Before Roy could answer, an undodgeable ring of bullets started to surround him. He was going to die!

"D I E." Happy fella began cackling evilly as Roy desperately attempted to escape, he needed to find a way out! The bullets where closing in and he had his fists up while squeezing his arms closer in an attempt to get away.

Roy bared his teeth and screwed his eyes shut as the bullets where just about to hit, but then they suddenly disappeared. He opened his eyes. "What the?" He looked at Happy fella and saw it was just as confused. A bright purple fireball then showed up and set it on fire, it going flying and screaming. Roy cackled with laughter at this rather hilarious sight.

Roy then blinked that topsy-turvy feeling happening again, the world was once more back to normal and that heart was gone. A tall lady with lavender hair, wearing a purple dress then came into view, which Roy thought was odd because she looked human.

"IF YOU COME BACK AND HURT THIS POOR CHILD AGAIN YOU'LL GET A SLIPPER TO THE BUTT." She yelled at the doll. Roy flinched slightly. Apparently she was not a lady to mess with.

"Oh, hello." She said in a jolly voice looking at Roy. "Do not be afraid, I am Lila, caretaker of the Ruins!" Roy was slightly skeptical but he decided to trust her. "Okay..." "What's your name child?" "I'm a teenager. And my name is Leroy, but just Roy is fine."

"I know, but I call all youth 'child' child! And no last name?" Roy shook his head no. He did indeed have a last name but he did not want to be connected to his family anymore.

"Oh, well, Roy, I pass through this place everyday to see if someone new has fallen down. You are the most recent." Roy had a look of awe. "So this is where all the missing kids go?"

"Yup! Although you are the first in a while." Lila made a 'come' gesture. "Come now, I will guide you through the catacombs." Roy still did not fully trust her but he followed.

"This way." She said as the two then walked through what was like a doorway and ended up in a pinkish purple hall with grey stairs ahead. Roy spotted a yellow glowing star, he gave it a tap and suddenly a strong feeling of strength and bravery rushed through his veins as he felt as if he died time would reset to that exact point. A phrase then went through his head as his eyes opened and SOUL brightened quickly.

"Seeing yourself in a brand new world and the shadows of the next step of your adventure fills you with BRAVERY."
