Lol, Taiju has been definitely growing on me. This chapter wqs purely epic. I mean, taking on Waka and Benekei on his own?
You have to have balls for that.

And then he does it in this epic way.

Tales countless hits from two of Kantou Manji's top dogs without seemi9to be fazed at all abd then he stops their special attack.

And how he pays respect to Inupi's and Koko's effort, while casually calling them his pets. That really made me giggle. But to be honest next week is going to be even more epic. After all we are probably going to have the final confrontation between Mikey and Takemichi. Oh god! I'm so excited!!!

This puts my thoughts into text form. I was always wondering if Yuuri's breakdown was as huge to the public as to him, especially after all the JJ stuff happened. What might have made his breakdown this horrible is Yuuri's inability to close off with this situation and to not be influenced by it on his next competition. (This is of course because of his anxiety and low self-esteem)
Yuuri’s (Not So Unique) Breakdown
I adore the fact that Yuri on Ice gives us a Yuuri Katsuki who is an unreliable narrator. We meet him at the Grand Prix final, reading some random news article about whether this season is his last, and crying on the phone in the bathroom with his family. He binged on bad foods and carried the weight of grief over Vicchan onto the ice, embarrassing himself (his view) in front of his idol. Then he runs away from Victor, because he doesn’t think he deserves that commemorative photo.
Then we fast-forward 4 months. Yuuri has graduated college, biffed it at Nationals and worries he’s lost his motivation to skate again.
That must’ve been some breakdown!
Well… it was and it wasn’t.
Yuuri seems to view his breakdown as so unusual and terrible that he thinks he does not deserve to be on the ice again (not that Yurio helped). And maybe we (as the audience) are supposed to believe that Yuuri’s meltdown is the big meltdown for a while, but then… so quickly, the show shows us that no one sees Yuuri as “the one who fell apart at the GPF” because…
It happened. A lot. To a lot of skaters. In the show.
Let’s start with Cup of China. While Yuuri is in the parking garage crying and yelling at Victor for being an idiot, the frontrunner for a place at the GPF, winner of Skate America, Leo de la Iglesia wobbles a jump so badly he can’t recover. Georgi Popovich too falls apart in his programme when his ex, Anya, walks out of his skate.

Right there, two skaters had cringes on the big stage at the level that Yuuri had had.
Is that all? Nope! Let’s just head along to Rostelecom for a moment and ask the same question. Emil Nikola didn’t land his jumps (but seemed unphased). On the other hand, Seung-Gil Lee, Mr. “I can land the quad loop,” who we were led to believe is a robot wobbled his jumps and lost concentration. Then… cried. Just like Yuuri had. (If you weren’t watching carefully, you might miss it. Yuuri didn’t.)

Okay, but surely biffing it at the Grand Prix final would be worse. Well, yes, absolutely it is! It’s a bigger stage. It’s a higher pedestal. JJ Leroy was our fallen skater there, letting all the pressure get into his head and turning his mega-jumps into skipping stones.

That means, just in Yuuri’s experience going through the Grand Prix Final series one more time, at least one skater in each and every competition fell apart. It means that this is a common occurrence in the top echelons. That each skater just “has that day” where things go entirely wrong, and they fall apart on the ice, and they cry. It isn’t something that their peers are going to poke at them for. It’s something they’ll hug their peers about and say “yeah buddy, been there.”
Yuuri’s terrible self-image and sky-high anxiety gave him an entirely wrong impression of his skating ability. It made him think his “bad day” meant that he was a terrible skater not worth anything and should quit. It was Yuuri’s anxiety and impostor syndrome talking, not his talent.
Hopefully, even if Yuuri is not paying attention to this, Victor is, and he’s starting to figure out how to help Yuuri see that one bad day (or one hand on the ice) does not nullify just how much of a beautiful skater and star Yuuri is.
And for those of us who (ahemm) closely identify with Yuuri (hello anxiety hi), we too can see that sometimes we have that “day”, but so do so many others, and we can’t let that “day” define us.

Spy x Family Review
youtube
Twilight is one of the best spies in the world. But his next mission might be his hardest so far. In order to get close to his next target he needs a family. He finds them in the orphan Anya (secretly a telepath) and Yor (a well known assassin). Watch them struggling throug their day to day live while trying to hide their dark secrets.
Spy x Family was without doubt the best anime this season. 12 episodes filled with humour, fun abd action. The storyline is unique the characters are wonderfully developed and the animations are great. A plus is that Anya might be the most adorable anime child ever. She is such a sweetheart.
Has anyone talked about the intro? Because I think with it's unique style it is like a breath of fresh air and incredible fitting for an anime with a spy, an assassin and a telepath as the main characters.
Rating: 9/10

Sports Anime Recommendations Part Seven: Sk8 - The Infinity
Here you have some eye candy and the typical sports anime protagonist friendship. (kind of, but at leastyou have a character who is versed in skateboarding and one who still has to learn it) If you are bored of sports anime about soccer, baseball our basketball you should definitely give Sk8 a try. I have never seen an anime about skateboarding before and honestly I think Reki's character development is one of the best. You don't see that much in shonen with one of the mc.
youtube
Synopsis: High school student Reki Kyan is passionate about one thing: skateboarding. When night falls, he heads to "S," an illegal underground race inside a mine where skaters compete in highly dangerous situations. After a loss that results in his skateboard being destroyed and his arm being broken, Reki is now incapable of practicing at all.
While working, Reki runs into his new classmate, Langa Hasegawa, a half-Canadian and half-Japanese boy with no skateboarding experience whatsoever. Langa is in desperate need of money. After they both visit "S" when tasked by Reki's boss, they get into trouble and are forced into a bet that requires Langa to skate in a race. However, the mysterious transfer student holds a trump card that Reki is unaware of, one which might help him win the race in the most unexpected way.
Sk(: The Infinity is one of the shorter anime on this list with only one season and 12 episodes so far.
