Today marks the release of Alysm’s new single “What’s the Purpose?” The new track is in collaboration with Faaathom, Alysm’s friend and collaborator. “What’s the Purpose?” will be available in physical form on the ‘Clouds’ Remastered Cassette, now available for pre-order.

Here’s what Alysm had to say about the new track:

“I wrote this song with my friend Malik after a long time of wanting to work together. I Facetimed him and told him to "Say something super profound right now" as a joke. After being extremely confused his genuine response is the sample at the beginning of the song. I wrote the song over the course of a few weeks and initially started with the chord progression. I was stuck on where to go with it but I had a sudden burst of creativity and wrote most of it in a day or two. The song is about self doubt and reminiscing on the moments that could have been. My verse and the chorus is written from the perspective of me talking directly to myself. This was such a fun song and video to work on and I’m excited to everyone to finally hear it!”
