Global Warming: Myth or Reality?

Global warming is real, and it’s not going away. But let’s start with something simple, what is global warming? Global warming is the rise in the earth’s temperature. It occurs when carbon dioxide and other air pollutants collect in the earths atmosphere and obsorb sunlight and solar radiations. This results in the early getting hotter. Might not feel like a big deal right? Turn on the air conditioning and voila you have no problem. But it is a problem, and a very big one. Last year, in the Yukon Territory of Canada, massive glaciers started melting. Previous research shows that from 1857 to 2007, the Saint Elias Mountines im the Alpine Club lost 22% of its ice covers, which resulted in the sea level rising by 1.1 millilitres. Doesn’t sound much right? But imagine this, over 70% of the earths surface is water, and all of the 70% percent increased by 1.1 millilitres. Global warming is a major threat to our planet, rising temperatures have resulted in disturbed climates, resulting in animals having to move or even going to the risk of extinction. It’s predicted that by 2100, the states would suffer a higher risk of decade long droughts, and hurricanes would become more common.

This isn’t enough to convince you that our planet is dying, than imagine. Imagine it doesn’t rain for a decade. Your country can’t harvest as much food, and has to import as much as possible for other nations. Food prices our rising, and many people can simply no longer afford them. Imagine starving kids, looking at you, pleading, but you can’t give them food, because you barely have any for yourself.

Be honest with me, do you want that? No, you don’t. So please, I beg you, stop standing by being idle bystanders watching our planet getting bullied. If we don’t get our act together now, the planet we know today, might not be here in another 100 or 200 years

Dear Taylor,

This is my second post or whatever they call it on tumblr. I want to write a letter to you that you’d probably never read and even if you do you’ll probably think that I’m an annoying weirdo brat but hey I wear that title with somewhat pride. I don’t know how to start a letter so this is why I’m blabbering. I’m sorry. I don’t know how to say it but I guess thank you. Thank you for making my life more interesting and giving me something to look forward too. I don’t have to much of a big or dramatic story, I’m just a normal 13 year old brown kid with strict parents and too many expectations. There’s nothing interesting or special about me. I haven’t done anything that stands out (unless having your art in a newspaper is special) and I haven’t done anything that would make others proud. I’m pretty average. But thanks to you and the beautiful, wonderful swiftie community, there have been times where I have felt special. This fandom and you are so amazing. One comment on my Instagram or one retweet on twitter make me feel like the most luckiest person in the world. Thanks to you and the fandom, I had moral support for the time my dad broke his leg a few months ago. Because of you I’ve taken more interest in my hobby and passion, sketching other than procrastinating and leaving it be. I’ve been your fan for almost two year (not much compared to the others in this fandom) but I’ve generally always been attracted to you. My parents only started allowing me to listen to music, so I hadn’t really heard much when I was younger. But be at school or in a store or wherever, your songs always stood out to me. I remember when I was 4, I heard you belong with me for the first time, and I immediately loved it. I kept on heading your music from places and places and some times I would even get my moms phone and listen to it in secret. The secrecy of listening only lasted till I was 12, I now listen freely. But the point is, you’ve always stood out to me, in ways no other artist (other than bts but even that was different) stood out to me. When I was in grade 4, we were supposed to do an autobiography on a person were interested in, I don’t remember why I choose you, I guess even grade 4 me was an intellectual and had amazing taste. I’m just babbling on because I don’t have much to say lol. I don’t know how you do it, but you really bring happiness and laughter to me. I love you and I want to thank you. I know you will never see this and that this will get lost in the sea of letters that you get, but I’ll hold on to the tiny hope that you see this ( because like you said you see everything ;)) Thank You for making me cry, which is a weird thing to say, but I’m grateful for it. Thank you for giving me something to take me out of my dark thoughts that I really shouldn’t be having. This is getting so long, I’m sorry. Thank You.
