Okay, everyone loves a good Whumpee faint. But consider the whump potential of a whumpee who doesn’t faint.

Their face is colorless. They stumble over air. Their eyes go unfocused at random times and they can’t seem to make it through a sentence without loosing their train of thought. They keep doing that thing where their legs give out and they catch themselves at the very last second.

It’s obvious that they’re using every ounce of strength they have left just to stay conscious. Everyone around them keeps side eyeing them, and refusing to go more than an arm’s length away because it’s bound to happen any second, and what if they have to catch them?

But Whumpee just keeps going and pushing through to not be a burden to the rest of the team. Only everyone would probably feel better if they did pass out because oh my God, what have they already been through that this isn’t taking them out?

I love the fever/illness as a result of doing something self-sacrificial for someone special trope. Was just catching up on my webtoons and the guy waded through the cold river to get MC’s item back until his hands pruned & like instantly got a fever that night. Idc how contrived it is idc unrealistic idc how cliché I will eat it every time.

Characters standing up and getting lightheaded because they’ve got a fever or they’re so congested it gives them a head rush and they have to hold onto something for a minute. Bracing themselves with both hands on a table or chair or another person. Being asked if they’re okay and they say in this distant voice, “Yeah, just need a sec.”

Let’s all take a moment to appreciate the doorway stumble. You know the one. Where they just happen to stumble near the convenient doorframe? Perfect.

i know it's been said time and time again but nothing hits quite like a character who's stifled their pain and trauma for so long finally receiving some kind of validation or comfort from someone who cares for them and just utterly shattering. crying so hard it sounds like they're dying, body so wrecked by it that the other person is worried they're going to make themself sick. able to withstand all of it by pushing those feelings away until someone said 'i see this, and it's not right, it's not okay, i'm so sorry'

More whumpees should faint from seeing their blood, actually. Especially if theyre not actually afraid of blood.

Just,, the fear, of seeing blood gushing out of a wound, even if they know that its only a flesh wound, its not actually dangerous, yet they can't help but become terrified. Next thing they know, they're on the floor and all they can see is the ceiling.

Sorta as per my last reblog: CHARACTERS GETTING SICK DURING A PARTY

I'm thinking like, catching the flu and actually getting sick over the course of the few hours they're there

So they're fine at the beginning, cheerful, eating and drinking and chatting...

And then they start to feel really run down, really fast

Zoning out on the couch, suddenly exhausted. Other characters think they could be drunk/high, but soon realize they're completely sober and just really out of it from a rising fever

Lights looking too bright, the rest of the room looking too dim. Weird halos around lamps, the TV screen.

Someone falling asleep curled up on the sofa, found and given a blanket by another party goer who thinks it's adorable at first -- only to realize they're a bit too warm

Maybe they had to get all the way across town to reach their friend's house, and now it's either late enough that buses aren't running, or they don't have money for a cab, or they drove but they're in no state to do so now, or maybe their friends are just worried enough about them that sending them home alone at all isn't something they're comfortable with...so the easiest solution is to just let them spend the night

Taking someone's temperature in a bathroom late at night with only a night light on, the sounds of the party still audible outside the door

Letting them sleep in somebody's bed, dimming the lights and closing the door, asking people to keep things quiet when near that room because there's someone inside trying to rest
