Ok I'm not tagging this because my ass will be dragged but there's something you need to know about me. As a character Clara Oswald is great. As a fictional person... I hate her SO MUCH. What a little shithead. The things she does are great for a story but I hate her SO MUCH. I've written papers about how much I hate her and the things she does. No, the Doctor isn't perfect in these episodes. I hate her guts like a raging storm.

The @clowns0cks commentary under this post got me sobbing.

This kind of stuff always reminds me of that one scene in the first story of series 9. (spoilers below cut)

That scene where Missy and 12 are hanging out in Davros' room after Missy runs in. The scene where they're basically tag-team roasting Davros and they're just getting along so well. The scene where Missy recognizes the look on the Doctor's face and gets excited that they're doing something a little smart, a little fun, a little rough around the edges. I love that scene so much and it gives me feelings every time I watch it. (actually that entire 2-parter goes crazy for thoschei likers). The screenshot of tags I picked might not have been the most relevant to my post but damn did it give me feelings.

i love when the masters in disguise or fobwatched and meets the doctor and they just work so well together. for once theyre not fighting and they cant help but get along brilliantly. glimpses of what could have been

I was yapping on some Discord server and my brain spit out the phrase "Edged by the Narrative". Now, I'm not positive nobody's used that before but I think it's a great description for things that have been drawn out far too long.

Other people want Doctor Who to go back to it's roots by having the Doctor be a white man. I want Doctor Who to go back to it's roots by having the Doctor tell a Dalek to kill itself. We are not the same.

No but the alien reaction to every time the Doctor and their companions save the Earth from alien invaders somehow must be so funny like they're expecting average missiles at most and then the find the Doctor and go "bitch how does this backwater of a planet have a fucking TIME LORD ON CALL"

You know, The Doctor's ego is such a fascinating part of their character. Because they act like it's massive, and to a certain extent it is. But they also have such low self-esteem under it all. Like they have a genuine fundamental belief that their life doesn't matter beyond the usefulness they find for themselves in helping others. They are always willing to lay down their life for pretty much any cause, and they have a fundamental belief that nobody will care.

For example, take The Wedding of River Song, River nearly destroyed the universe to tell the Doctor that the universe cared about him, and he still didn't believe it. Instead the lesson he took from that was that he had too much of an impact and needed to be forgotten. He literally began to delete himself and let the universe believe he had died, because he thought it was a bad thing that he was valued (yes, there were negative consequences to it, namely the Silence, but they still ended up happening and there was a massive negative consequence to the Daleks forgetting him, if you listen to the Eleventh Doctor Chronicles audios)

Another example is the audio Find and Replace, where the 3rd Doctor tried to replace himself in Jo's memory with Iris Wildthyme, because he thought she wouldn't mind, and it would be safer for her. And he didn't believe she would have any objections to that because he didn't believe that he had actually mattered to her.

There's also the stuff with the Time War, and the Doctor's belief that they aren't actually the Doctor, that it is an ideal they strive for but will never reach because they consider themselves to be a bad person, and that the War Doctor was their true self, a terrible monster, rather than what he actually was, a good man forced to do terrible things by inescapable circumstances.

It's also so important to me that people know he's voiced by Sacha Dhawan who plays the Spy Master in Doctor Who....

I think a good talking to from the First Doctor could fix the Master to an extent. Like all of the Doctors are good at inspiring speeches but the First Doctor is on another level because he is equally unhinged and doesn’t have as much of present day Doctor’s trauma, not to mention that he will talk to you sternly no matter what your station in life is, so he could just go up to the Master like:

“Now, Koschei, it is still Koschei isn’t it? You’re far too old to be so foolish, so how about we put an end to this silliness, hmm?”

I’m not saying that it would magically solve every problem, but throughout the years the Doctor has become much more subtle when it comes to having The Audacity, so being spoken to like this could momentarily shock the Master into messing up his evil plans, allowing the Doctor to stop him.
