long post of me rambling and asking questions I don’t actually want the answer to now that ive finished way of kings, and slight spoilers for the lost metal in the third to last paragraph

so I was thinking and kaladin’s whole spiel, especially in the beginning of the book, was “honor is dead,” right?

and there are three shards on roshar: odium, cultivation(?maybe? I actually don’t remember where I heard this name and I didn’t see it looking back through the epigraphs. hoid mentioned it, perhaps?), and another one I do not currently know the name of

it was mentioned a couple times in various epigraphs that odium had killed/splintered/whatever the other two

so if the third shard was honor, is honor literally dead? was kaladin right?

and if so—assuming honorspren had been connected to the honor shard somehow—is the reason the radiants disappeared connected to the downfall of the shard? because if the honorspren who formed the bonds were no longer powerful enough because of the death of the shard…no more knights radiant

so is honor regaining strength, and that is why syl was able to form the bond or whatever it was with kaladin, giving him the long lost powers of a knight radiant? and why dalinar was getting visions from it? and the couple of others mentioned in some of the epigraphs, maybe as a last-ditch attempt by honor/the shard with whatever little remaining strength it had to protect roshar from odium? or something idk?

but also… if spren were responsible for the power the knights radiant had, what does that make szeth? he seems to have the same/an extremely similar power set to what kaladin gained, but he doesn’t seem to have a spren following him around anywhere. though idk what the rock does either really. so I’m rotating that around in my brain now, too

and one last thing: I don’t know much about investiture itself or how using it between planets works (though examples of it working between planets without issue are seen in the lost metal with shai and the others), but how would the magic system being tied to spren work with that? say hoid was going around the different planets and trying to get as much of each type of magic as he could to use for his own purposes elsewhere, if he managed to form a bond with a spren would that limit it to only roshar? would the spren have to follow him around? could the spren follow him around? mmmmm

so yeah. questions questions questions. don’t answer them.

and unfortunately its looking like i wont be able to read the next book for a while, so i'll just have to drive myself insane over all of this in the meantime

shallan is back!!!!! yay!!!!! I knew she wouldn’t just quietly accept her fate and leave :D

i am genuinely so excited to see more of her, especially now that she is going to be in the know with what jasnah is doing (ghostbloods!!?? on roshar!?!?? kelsier this is not your planet!?!!?!), and going to the shattered plains (where I’m assuming she’d meet the other protags!)

so yay! last few chapters of this book are looking to be good ?

the power of photosynthesis (according to my friend)

so I was trying to describe what I know of roshar’s magic system to my friend earlier and I mentioned how kaladin absorbs stormlight to do magic stuff and her immediate response to that was “so he’s photosynthesizing?” 

and, while that’s not exactly it, I can’t stop imagining it. so. I guess kaladin out here photosynthesizing now. kaladin’s a plant confirmed

holy shit. wait. pause in my concern for shallan. kaladin turned down a shardblade?!

I’m only 60ish% of the way through this book but oh my cod. I wish I were more articulate. like if I’m actually remembering something correctly for once, didn’t tvalkav or whoever it was mention that kaladin wanted revenge on amaram? did amaram end up stealing the blade?? that. that explains so much

oh kaladin. I fear you have too much honor. but you wouldn’t be the same without it
