To celebrate the end of season one, I just want to share some of the EPIC DnD shots I got of the characters that didn't make the final cut.
Adarrah was originally a Chaotic Evil Aasimar Necromancer who became the main villain in my second campaign.
I freakin' LOVE this shot of Varg, who was a player's character in my second campaign - Skaadi's twin brother, a Nord Bloodhunter, son of a god, and a werewolf (spoilersssss). He's SUCH a cool character!
Reyna's also a player character in campaign 2 - a Drow rogue/sorcerer and princess of the Drow Empire.
Kang's an NPC, but a beloved one at that. She's an Elven Samurai monk, and protector of her local village.
So I haven't covered much of Cora and Aelina just yet, but they were important characters in my husband's campaign, and Cora was my first DnD character without a horrid tragic backstory, although she still has damage.
And lastly, Ori. Probably the most beloved NPC I've ever made, through ALL campaigns. He's sort of this inside joke that just keeps going - he's a bit of an eldritch being, so he appears in every campaign, one shot, and story I tell. Which means... he may or may not actually be completely aware of the space time continuum in the College AU.
Thank you for sticking around to read the first series, if you're here! I plan to brush up on my skills, find new Gshades, and change things up as I go, so hopefully each series will be an improvement!

King: "Thank you all for inviting me on the trip with you... I feel cleansed, somehow." Persie: "Yeah, like I was dreading something and now it's just calm, I feel safe." Aylin: "How did a camping trip turn into an intervention? Haha!"
"Awww, my little baby Socks... did you miss mama?"
"Let's go inside. I'm looking forward to a chill summer!"
"Well, ladies... it's time to fuck up this town."

There are some friendships which span all of existence... if you nurture them in every life, you will find yourself making change - standing against the darkness.
"I've never met anyone like you... each of you knows my soul. It's like you see right through me, like I can't hide anything from you because you speak the language of my wavelength."
(As season one draws to a close, I wanted to make a tribute to the original campaign I first ran, with a set of the most incredible players, which made me who I am today. The topics, trauma, and moral issues we tackled in this campaign, though we never finished, were life-changing and so healing for me. Every character on the camping trip is someone who played in the first campaign I ever ran for DnD - immortalized in the coolest party of all time. The last picture is Theo, Aylin, and Bozzik... the original three members of the party. Aylin is a part of my soul, a shattered remnant of my inner child, healed by my friends.)

Ori: "That's because there are many things alive here... Things not native to our plane of reality." Aylin: "Don't spook her, Ori..." O: "What, don't believe me? The Witchwood is famous for sightings of dark figures, mysterious disappearances, and the like."
King: "He's right... I've seen things here... dark things." Theo: "So why the hell are we here then?!" Ori: "This place is sacred, it is on a special ley line that connects our world to others... to our past lives, to our future lives, and to other dimensions of ourselves." Dexter: "I think you're smoking the wrong stuff, mate."
Khalid: "It's why we wanted to gather together here. In life, there are certain connections that are written in the stars."
Ori: "And in places like this, that connection is drawn forth, to be examined by those who see it.
Aylin: "You're saying we all found each other because we're... connected by past selves?" Khalid: "Likely so... Have you never dreamed of each other, in some way or form?" They all consider silently...
Ori: "This world is full of great darkness... it's up to the heroes of every world to save it, yes?" Persie: "I've always felt deeply connected to my friends here... and just yesterday when I met the rest of you for the first time... there was definitely a sense of familiarity..." Boziik: "It's certainly possible. I've sensed the veil is thin since I first got to Hatchetfield."
Ori: "And the connections will become more apparent. Human souls are drawn together through trauma they share, through hardship and pain." Aylin looks down. Tears fill her eyes. Khalid: "In another life, you are someone else entirely. But you're still you. If you exist in this dimension, it's because there's a purpose for you to fulfil."
"Some of us are here to affect change where we could not..."

"Some of us are drawn by love, everlasting."

"Some must remain to protect the world, despite their darkest secrets..."
"Some are given a second chance, despite their evils in another life..."
"And so many others you haven't met yet, but will be drawn toward by destiny. Nothing can keep you apart, when friendships span lifetimes."

Theo: "Thanks for planning this trip, Khalid! I think it'll be good for us to get away after the chaos of this semester." Aylin: "For real... and I'm so excited to see Boziik again!" Khalid: "Ah, no trouble my friends! When Boziik mentioned bringing you two, Persie and Ori along, I told him I thought we could all use the trip."
Theo: "Good to see you again, Boziik!" Boziik: "You too, Theo. Feels like forever since our freshman intro class! You excited to go on a big camping trip with a bunch of new people?" Theo: "I'll admit the introvert in me is screaming, but I'm excited about all of this spiritual transcendence Ori and Khalid are talking about." Boziik: "Heh... yeah, we'll see."
Aylin: "Dexter?! Dexter Cain, is that you?" Dexter: "Hey-y-y it's you guys!" Aylin: "Are you one of the extra roommates? I had no idea! I haven't seen you since you did Theo's tattoos! I've even been back to the parlor to see you!" Dexter: "Oh, haha yeah... I never actually worked there..." Aylin: "Huh?!" Dexter: "That's a story for another day! Have you met King, yet?"
King: "Oh, uh, hey!" Aylin: "Oh, nice to meet you! I've heard a lot about the shenanigans you four get into..." Dexter: "And you must be Persie!" Persie: "I am! Ugh, this suitcase is heavy." Aylin: "Girl, how much did you pack? It's only three days!" King: "I can carry that down for you." Persie: "Oh, thank you! Well, I've never been hiking before. I didn't know what I might need."
Ori: "Ah, and everyone's here. We'd better get going if we want to set up with time to catch some fish! Come on, everyone, in the car." Theo: "Who's driving? You?" Ori: "Oh no, I don't have a license." Aylin: "How-" Ori: "One day, I'll tell you. Now, everyone in the car. Theo's driving!"

Beanie's Coffee Co, 10 AM. The final day of classes.
Adarrah: "I'll take a masala chai, medium. If you could go heavy on the anise, that would be great." Barista: "Ma'am, we use a chai mix, so..." Adarrah: *sigh* "That is fine, then."
??: "Can I get a medium pistachio latte, whole milk, please?" Barista: "Yes ma'am." ??: "No luck with your chai, then?" Adarrah: "I thought I recognized you... Noellie, right?" Noelie: "Mm-hmm. I sat about two rows behind you in archaeology." Adarrah: "Mind if I sit with you?" Noelie: "Please."
N: "You seem pretty passionate about chai...?" A: "I grew up drinking it at home, it's one of the only things that reminds me of where I come from. And it's really not that hard to get right." N: *giggle* "Well, for some of us in the midwestern U.S, exotic spices are a little hard to understand, I guess."
A: "So... classes are out now. You have any special summer plans?" N: *sigh* "I'm stuck here in Hatchetfield..." A: "You're not going home to see your parents?" N: "No... unfortunately they make that pretty difficult." A: "I understand. My family is much the same. Where is home for you?" N: "Hah... you'll have to get to know me a little better before I reveal all my cards." A: "Ahh, a mystery woman. It's really very sexy." Noelie blushes.
N: "Well... if you're going to be stuck here all summer, maybe we could meet up? I noticed you have a real passion for archaeology like I do." A: "I would like that. I suppose we'd better exchange numbers?" N: "O-oh, yes! Ah... I don't know your name." A: "Adarrah." N: "That's a really beautiful name." A: "Thank you."
N: "I live just down the road... if you ever want to come by, you're welcome to." A: "Mm... careful, I might find your eagerness too cute to refuse." N: *giggle* "Ah... I just feel really drawn to you. Almost like... I don't know." A: "Perhaps we knew each other in another life?" N: "Exactly."
N: "OK, now that I've made an insane fool of myself, I'd better go." A: "It was good to meet with you, Noelie. I'll take you up on that visit sometime." N: "Good. You'd better! Ah, I mean, that's good! Goodbye, Adarrah..."
"Goodbye, Noelie..."

The Witchwood, 11 PM
?? : "You're on time. Glad to be working with a professional." King: "Not many of those left. Let's get on with it." ??: "I'm Davis. Follow me, and keep your gun close."
King: "V' certainly has... taste." Davis: "The boss collects the rarest, most cursed, and most occult of objects. Almost every escort job ends with somebody running away in terror." King: "Hm, likely a result of the atmosphere." Davis: "You'd be surprised, Kingpin. The Witchwood is an evil and ancient place... spirits of all sorts reside here."
Geoffrey: "Ah, you've arrived!" King: "Landgraab. Didn't expect to see you here..." Geoffrey: "The master wanted me to personally ensure the arrival of this particular shipment... deadly weapons inside, I'm afraid." King: "Hm."
Geoffrey: "The trucks should be here soon... let's- wait... did you hear something?" King: "I believe the ambiance of a dark, spooky forest is getting to you both." Geoffrey: "There, in the darkness... a figure... Do you not see her?"
*They hear a loud noise, a scream, and then there's a flash of green light behind them. As they approach the location, they see a misty, dark figure standing over Davis's body. His veins have been etched with a shimmery gold, and his eyes are glazed over - he's dead. The dark figure fades from existence as they approach."
King: "Shit..." Geoffrey: "No, they've come! The dark ones! Run, Kingpin, save yourself!" *books it*
King: "Landgraab! Get back here!"

Theo: "Hey-y-y..." Aylin: "Hey! Just finishing my last paper before the semester ends." Theo: "Nice..." Aylin: "So what's up? You seem super nervous." Theo: "DO I? Oh, uh... well... I just wanted to see if... you want to come have a picnic with me... as not just friends..." Aylin: "Like a date?" Theo: "Yes...?"
Aylin: "Theo, you're so sweet! I would love to go on a date with you." Theo: "Great! So I'll... just... we can go now!" Aylin: "Sure! You're so cute when you blush."
Aylin: "Theo!!! This is so cute! Nobody's ever done something like this for me before..." Theo: "Wait, really? But you deserve so much more... I wanted to have more strawberries, and-" Aylin: "Theo, it's perfect... this is really sweet."
(They proceed to talk about deep life stuff, telling childhood stories and debating the origins of life, stuff like that...)
Aylin: "This has been so nice, seriously... I don't think I've ever been able to tell anybody some of this stuff. You really make me feel like myself." Theo: "Honestly, same here. You have so much blackmail on me now." Aylin: *laughs* "You know though... I'm not really feeling a romantic spark as much as I thought." Theo: "You, too? Gosh, that makes me feel better..." Aylin: "I think I may have been confusing my feelings... I really feel connected to you, like we're soulmates." Theo: "But not in a romantic way... just fully like, the deepest friendship in the world."
Aylin: "Exactly... being out here with you, I guess I'm realizing I don't have to be with somebody romantically to feel seen and understood." Theo: "So... best friends?" Aylin: "Best friends... you can tell me anything. Call me at 1 AM, and I'll be there ASAP." Theo: "Same for you. Thank you for showing me I can have real friendships like this."

Dagny: "Varg! Over here!" Varg: "Oh! Hidden away to prevent the possibility of Ivar seeing us, huh?" Dagny: "Yes. Now let's get inside before we get soaked!" Varg: "I hope you like this place... I know it's not the most formal first date." Dagny: "No, it's cute!"
Varg: "I almost took you to the bar where I work, but the clientele there is a little less wholesome." Dagny: "You work at a bar? Hmm, maybe I'll have to come visit sometime."
Varg: "What's your go-to?" Dagny: "Local stout, on tap." Varg: "Hmm, had you figured for an herbal shrub kind of girl." Dagny: "Oh, haha, don't get me wrong! I love a good rosemary or thyme cocktail. But if I'm getting soft pretzels and bowling with a burly guy, I need some beer." Varg: "Soft pretzels it is, then!"
Dagny: "You know, Hatchetfield has some pretty decent local craft beers. I'll miss them a lot when I graduate." Varg: "You don't think you'll stick around?" Dagny: "Why would I? I'd rather go back home and work with my parents." Varg: "Hm, I can understand that. I'll probably head home again after graduation... but there's something about Hatchetfield. I just don't want to leave. But I'd have to have a reason to stay."
Varg: "I'll warn you, I've become something of a pro at bowling." Dagny: "Is that so? We'll see, won't we?"
Dagny: "Sorry for sweeping the floor with you... I couldn't resist the win just because you're cute." Varg: "I like a competitive woman... if you'd let me win I might not have considered a second date." Dagny: "Oh, we're already talking second dates, are we?"
Varg: "Well, shouldn't we? If you'd want to see me again." Dagny: "Hmmm, I think that would be very nice. I mean besides the fact that we'll have to keep skirting around my brother. He'll figure it out eventually." Varg: "Doesn't that add some fun, though? Forbidden meetings." Dagny: "Secret trysts... windows left open?" Varg: "Are you saying you'll leave a window open for me?" Dagny: "Don't need to, I just gave you a key to my house. Unless you prefer the window..." Varg: "So... a second date, then? Tomorrow night?" Dagny: "Hmmm, I'm game. Just don't let Ivar see you." Varg: "Oh, you don't have to worry about him."

"Leaving the house soon. Really excited to see you!"
Varg: "NO! Go the other way!" Ivar: "You're supposed to go left! I ALWAYS go right!" Varg: "Get him, quick!" Ivar: "I AM!"
Varg: "Hey man, I've got to head out soon." Ivar: "For what? You got a date?" Varg: "Maybe." Ivar: "No way, bro! Who is this lady that's finally won the heart of the most stoic bro in town?"
Varg: "If things go well, maybe you'll meet her." Ivar: "C'mon, I gotta be your wingman. I'll - FUCK!" Varg: "And this is exactly why you don't need to meet her yet. I don't want you scaring her off." Ivar: "Probably fair... but you can't hide her from me forever!"

Ivar: "Oof... this is going to take all day..." Dagny: "It'll be worth it! I'm glad the city finally gave us permission to fix it up."
Skaadi: "This garden used to be a commonplace for Hatchetfield residents... it was apparently a great source of community for everyone." Ivar: "So why are Varg and I here again?" Dagny: "To help us! We can't very well put this place together again by ourselves?" Varg: "It can't hurt to put in a little elbow grease." Skaadi: "Thank you!"
Varg: "Hey, I think I'll go see what Dagny's doing..." Skaadi: "Oh good! I'll distract Ivar!" Varg: "For what-" Skaadi: "Hey Ivar, come help me with this potting soil!"
Varg: "Uh, hey!" Dagny: "Hi, Varg. This place is really coming together isn't it?" Varg: "I'm glad a lot of other people came to help out... this might be a one day job."
Dagny: "I really appreciate you coming to help out. We couldn't have done it without you." Varg: "Well... uh (clears throat)... maybe you can make it up to me?" Dagny: "And how's that?" Varg: "Bowling! I mean, bowling and drinks... and dinner? Murdoch's is having happy hour later tonight." Dagny: "Are you asking me on a date, Varg?" Varg: "Yes...?"
Ivar: "A-a-and what are you two chatting about over here?" Dagny: "Just deciding if we need anything else for the greenhouses. And Varg was just asking me if I was happy with everything - so the answer is yes, Varg." Varg: "Ah, ok... good then."
Skaadi: "Well, with that, Dagny and I are going home. Since we literally live next door, ah." Dagny: "Right, Skaadi and I have... dinner plans." Ivar: "Aww, no invites for your brothers?" Skaadi: "Not a chance. Very important things to do."
Skaadi: "Bye, Varg. (whispers) Good move, brother!" Varg: "Don't get up to no good tonight, Skaadi."
Dagny: "I'll see you later... Skaadi had an extra house key made for you, by the way... just in case you need it." Varg: "Should I pick you up?" Dagny: "Not this time, better keep Ivar from being suspicious. I'll meet you at Murdoch's at 8."
