on this 4/20, let’s think about how bob marley has been reduced to a stereotype around weed and “one love” instead of the revolutionary figure he really was. he advocated for revolution and change against a racist political system in jamaica. he was also a staunch anti imperialist, and criticized white imperialism. he didn’t just smoke weed all day and sing catchy songs. i truly hate the liberal cleansing of revolutionary figures because it turns them into a caricature which erases their political stances and beliefs from the public mind completely

The Midgar motorcycle chase scene in FF7 was always one of my favourite parts of the game, I think the music + the concept of driving a motorcycle while swinging a bigass sword always seemed PRETTY DANG COOL to younger me, haha! This was reaaaally rushed though so I will probs come back to the “80′s neon motorcycle chase” concept with Cloud again sometime. :’)

FFVII REVISED
Okay, allow me to explain:Recently, it was brought to my attention that some people on my page had a problem with me drawing black people because I, a black man, was drawing far too many of them (and not as stereotypes or tropes) when I’m known for having diverse character designs in the first place. This struck me as odd because there is literally no problem with me drawing characters of other backgrounds any other time, but the moment I start to draw us in a way that doesn’t make us look like the same stereotypes you’re used to seeing, it’s a problem? Check yourself. I literally got asked, “Do you ever draw white people?” And “You only draw black guys. Why?” In the same morning and I’m like, “Oh so this is a PROBLEM now?” Anyone that has seen my work knows that I draw people from all over. That said, there IS a conscious decision to represent my people in a way that is just and equal to how every other race has been represented since like…forever. Don’t come at me for actually taking the time and effort to show us in positive light. If me drawing people of color as characters and not stereotypes and over used tropes offends you, then get ready to hate my black ass then, because I’m not about to sit by and let us not be represented in a respectful, uplifting and positive light anymore and if you don’t like it well…. Too bad. But since it was an issue with me drawing my own heroes of color, I decided to do other heroes and villains from a game I’m fond of and make them people of color…. I specifically chose FFVII because it’s already a diverse case and to Square Enix’s credit, you could literally tell the same story with these designs. Enjoy.

Millennials are living in vans now.
I get so annoyed when I see videos like this, millennials trying to glamorize poor shit, and it has nothing to do with privilege or anything like that.
When my parents were young, you could graduate high school, get a job in a factory or an office, buy a 3 bedroom house, two cars, and save money for your kids’ college education. You could do all of that on a high school diploma.
I have friends with masters degrees proud of being Freegans – literally eating out of the dumpster – and they shroud their life decision in these high-minded cloaks of reducing food waste. I’m all for that, which is why I support efforts to bring ugly produce into grocery stores and other initiatives to make better use of the food supply. But you not finna have me believing that if you could find a decent job, you’d still be eating out of the dumpster. If you had a job that could pay your rent, student loans, health insurance, incidentals, etc. **YOU WOULD NOT BE EATING OUT OF THE GARBAGE.**
And now we have a trendy hashtag for millennials who are basically homeless people living in their car because shit is so expensive and they’re excited about their only expenses being petrol and food after the initial input of funds to make your van habitable. We keep ingesting this propaganda of glamorous poor shit and ignoring the fact that we’re all broke and scraping by in an increasingly competitive job market where your degree means you’re only qualified to work an internship to gain experience while you live with 3 roommates and subsist on Top Ramen.
Don’t get snowed in by the hype. Ain’t nothing cute about living in your van.
