Long time no see

This isn't going to be a normal post, with the date, and a fun little summary of my day

It's going to be a bit of a rant about my life recently

Nothing too triggering, just me explaining something that happened recently and how I feel about it!

content I will be covering: depression, grieving, neurodivergency

I've been feeling a bit depressed recently, which I thought was weird until i realised one of the reasons was hormonal, and then realised the other reasons. This week was the anniversary of the death of a loved one, and another loved one is starting chemotherapy and I'm at university and won't be there.

Realising why I felt so shitty has helped me feel a bit less shitty, but when the depression was worst I really struggled to keep up with university work. I did my assignments and submitted them on time, early even, but lecture content went over my head and I was zoned out for pretty much all of them

To make matters worse, I have a new hyperfixation that has hit harder than other recent ones for whatever reason, and that has meant what energy I do have has been spent engaging in that - serotonin and dopamine boosts and whatever.

Plus! I've not been sleeping well! Probably due to my flatmates (and their friends) deciding our kitchen is the best one to be in, talking and laughing loudly until 3am.

Anyway, the main reason I made this post was to talk about how I struggled asking for help with my situation. Yes, I complained about it to people, but I always ended it with "I'll be fine".

Today, I admitted my friend how it really helped when he explained the lecture content to me - he was doing it as a revision technique for himself but when I actually focused on it he made much more sense than the lecturer.

So we decided that once a week we will spend a couple hours going over the lecture content in a much more informal fashion, so that we both understand it.

I've also decided I will go to bed earlier and wear my Loop earplugs to sleep better.

We will see how this pans out, but hopefully these small steps will help me get closer to fully understanding my course.

I wrote 300 words of a lab report today!

But uh,,, yeah, if I miss days please assume it's Starkid's fault, their musicals have ruined my ability to focus

Results Discussion tomorrow

Today I not only received a disappointing grade on a report, but also got assigned ANOTHER report, and I've got a Lab Results Discussion tomorrow which is worth 2 of the 30 credits for the module

It's about the bromination of trans-stilbene, which I know the mechanism for, I'm just very worried I'll forget how to explain it, or how to justify my yield of 50.47% 😭

Me and a lab partner went through it today but I don't know if we got all the points we needed

Hoping I don't burst into tears in front of some random academic 😊🤞

To reward myself, I'm going to rewatch one of my favourite musicals with my partner, and then watch a new musical later :) plus, I might grab some chocolate or ice cream or something to make me feel better

Not a big fan of my lecturer

Hello! Today I had a lecture I already understood, one that the lecturer didn't explain properly but i still get now that someone else explained it, and a lecture that jumped from GCSE level probability to something we've never looked at before in the span of 20 minutes with little explanation!!

But it's ok!!

I did my part of the group project the day it was set! I ate some fruit today! I didn't get mad when it turns out I had to frog part of my plushie I'm making because I used the wrong hook size!! And I got to watch 3 musicals this evening!! One of which I will be quoting for weeks......

Long time no see, huh? (It's been 2 days)

Hello!

You may have noticed I didn't post yesterday

That's because I normally post just before I go to bed, and I happened to go to bed at 4am due to flatmate shenanigans

But! Study update! I've actually been writing my notes by hand instead of typing, and it's helping!! I also accidentally wrote notes on tomorrow's lecture so I'm a day ahead lol!

I've also been dealing with my main account (@b100k) blowing up a little bit because I've been posting about starkid so much haha

That's also where I'm gonna post crochet stuff, but today you guys get an ✨exclusive✨ look at what I made today!

It was supposed to be a bunny but I gave up before the ears and just made it a little guy

Lab day tomorrowwwww

Hello! Good evening!

I am sat painstakingly making my way through a lab book write up, my brain is too full for this so I'm going to have a nice bath with a fancy bath bomb to relax a bit!

ANYWAY tomorrow is a 6½ hour lab day which I will not enjoy, as I have to actually remember what happens in it afterward for a results discussion next week :(((((

other than that, I've had a good day! My group for this one project made a survey, if you take it I would be most appreciative! It's a research survey about how much awareness there is around the disposal of lithium ion batteries!

Decent day!

Hello!

Today I had a few lectures, one of which I could Not hear the lecturer because his mic wasn't working and he didn't even raise his voice to compensate lol

Bit of a lazy post today, it's 1:38am and I just finished crocheting a plushie!!

(the lighting makes it hard to see but he has little horns)

Tomorrow I'm watching a musical with my partner over video call, then going to a group project meeting, then writing up my lab book for Friday!

Making progress!

Good evening (it's midnight shut up)

I didn't get much revision done today, but! I did submit an assignment a whole 6 days early! That never happens!

My friend and I decided to do our Assignment Completion Ritual which consists of getting bubble tea together before going back to our separate accommodations and eating lunch, then completing the assignment over videocall so we can share screens and stuff if we get stuck! It worked :)

(if you're curious my order was peach cream cheese tea, it's my absolute favourite and they serve it in these cute pink cups!)

Today was also the first knitsoc meeting of the term so I had fun crocheting with my friends!

First Day of Classes

Hello!

Today was my first organic chemistry lecture and I really enjoyed it!! I actually made good notes, and turned them into flashcards (that's my picture hehe)

The lecturer for inorganic chemistry was a bit scary, and he kinda made fun of people who got questions wrong? But I was sat near the back so he didn't pick on me lol

Tomorrow I'm getting boba with a friend and then we're going to work on a chemistry drawing software assignment together which I'm dreading a bit but it should be fine!

Then, me and my partner are watching one of my favourite musicals on YouTube on Thursday which I am very excited for :)

I hope everyone had a productive day! And if you feel not very productive, just know that even waking up in the morning is productive, you got this!

Back at Uni!

Hello! Today I came back to uni, classes start again tomorrow!

I'm starting an organic chemistry module tomorrow which I'm excited for!

I spent most of today packing, then travelling, then not unpacking enough, then going to a party, and now I'm back in my flat with a hot chocolate and a bowl of grapes 😎
