“That is the single most depressing visual I’ve ever heard. Are you okay?”

“Do you ever just wake up… and go back to sleep because thinking about the world and responsibilities is too much and most of your waking life you feel like a fish out of water anyway, just flopping around life slowly dying?”

Fionna pouts, a little disappointed there wouldn’t e any dolphins but they figure there would be plenty of time for that later. They only gasp after Sinclair mentions the board, only noticing it and of all its colored glory. If there was ever a poster child for starry eyes then Fionna would be it. “For me? It’s so pretty,” they marvel over it, gently and slowly grasping the board with their hands and hugging it close to their body with their head barely peeking off toward the side. “I love it! How’d you know I was a sucker for tie dye?” 

“Right… I don’t think we’ll be flying with any dolphins today, but I guess you can pretend to be a mermaid,” Sinclair started, trailing off. Gripping one of the boards in one hand, he handed it off to Fionna. Sinclair has been trying to humor them since he realized there is probably no way of getting rid of them. “Didn’t think you’d show up. But here, this one’s yours. I figured you might like tie-dye.”

“Okay, I’m here. I’m ready to learn the ways of the ocean. I’m ready to fly with dolphins and be the mermaid I always knew I was.”
