Answered my own question, Winters was in the military much longer than I let on. Thank goodness for this book!!

I keep thinking about this scene in BofB where, i think, Winters, is wearing Leggings/Spats. It makes me wonder why he had those on. Typically they weren't worn over jump boots and everyone wore jump boots with their service uniform/fatigues. Very possible I made this up and this did not happen.

If I did not make that up its something that interests me, it was not common at all for paratroopers to wear leggings. They were far too proud of their jump boots, besides– wearing the canvas leggings atop of the jump boots was extremely restrictive. It was not popular or safe. That being said they (parachutists) also weren't typically issued garrison boots either. Maybe I missed something..

jiggy walker is genuinely one of the funniest characters on oz…. he appeared in 1 single episode where he had everybody convinced that he sold crack to the governor, and then when he was proven wrong, he just straight up admitted that he lied about it for the clout. he gave no fucks whatsoever. oh and he’s played by LL cool j

I think it’s so funny that among hbowar viewers it’s almost a universal experience to not be able to tell any of those white guys the fuck apart on a first watch through

like the first viewing is about being confused and taking nine episodes to realize that these two guys are different people.

the second viewing is about lovingly keeping watch over everyone and knowing them all by name like they are your flock of sheep and you are a tender, 1940s white guy shepherd, and also feeling maternal instincts toward solomon ‘scooby doo’ jones, a character who never makes it out of the background of the frame and dies offscreen
