these few lines from the church scene in trb always puzzle me:

it could just be chalked up to ronan being drunk and putting his own problem onto gansey, but it doesn’t really seem in ronan’s character, especially at such a vulnerable state, like it feels so intentional to me.

i think it could be some sort of evidence of both gansey and ronan having some sort of drinking/partying phase pre-niall’s death, which is so interesting, and gives way more context to “gansey on fire” and how their dynamics have changed.

ronan now uses alcohol as a coping mechanism and gansey stops getting drunk to be the adult, basically dismissing that it ever happened, but still drinking at monmouth like ronan is suggesting (to curb his insomnia and panic attacks?)

really wish that this thread was pulled through in more detail in tdt, especially with ronan’s drinking problem, because it seems like kavinsky is not only ronan’s coping mechanism for his dreaming, but also losing that dangerous and intoxicating element of his friendship with gansey

there just seems to be so much more complexity and back story to gansey and ronan’s early friendship that we never get and it drives. me. insane.
