Kat and Vergil were supposed to be in a relationship in DmC but it got cut from the game but is very clearly still present in like every aspect of Kat’s character 😞 Which makes her entire plot usage and characterization way worse.

Did you know leading up to the game the lead dev was touting that Kat was such a “strong independent woman” compared to the “mindless whores and prostitutes of the original series” or something to that effect. And. I don’t think Lady or Trish can really. Count as that. Considering they are very independent and don’t. Rely on Dante, like basically at all. Like they do dress a bit sexily but in the scheme of women outfits in media….

No matter how much u reboot dmc u will not make it “straights for the straights”. U cannot scrub out that much camp

DmC development’s wild bc it was a European studio and apparently Itsuno came by at some point to help with development and all the accounts of that sound like he kept trying to politely course correct ideas that were stupid. Like some stuff he blatantly said don’t do that in regards to combat but it seems like the devs mostly only followed his advice there and not, with the story…

Also looking at 5 with the reboot in mind it really makes it clear that Itsuno took the few interesting ideas he liked from the reboot and worked them into a much much better game.

Omg yes about 5, that’s why i was muttering that dots are connecting. I can absolutely see how the good concepts got picked up and put into 5 (the whole game feels like a love letter to the franchise, even the bastard reboot)

DmC is just so insane. It has little seedlings of good ideas that are mowed over by the trash. Nobody could course correct that amount of stupid

hey hedge! i have been following you for a while now, and i hope you know that everytime you post one of your painting pieces my jaw drops and i literally am in awe. id really love to learn how to do the painting-esque style that you have- i was wondering if you maybe had any tips on getting started, or even just how you started yourself?

Hey thank you so much !! 🫶 sorry for taking a while to respond, I held onto the message trying to figure out what makes my style mine since i can’t see it from an outside perspective. I think I started to paint the way I do now cuz I tried to mimic the cel shaded style of botw and realised how much I love the result. I used to paint in a very airbrushed blended way and I always felt that my painting looked shit

Trying out cel shading made me feel much more confident in stuff like placing shadows, highlights, sculpting shapes, and even picking colours

When I paint I use a very restricted amount of brushes. I think that’s what achieves the painted look since I depend more on brush strokes to imitate texture?? (My best guess) maybe if u are experimenting, try changing brushes and sticking just to one for a painting and see how u can get the most use out of it and u might find a favourite - or even a new style that u really like

From what you've described, it sounds like DmC is a really shitty AU written by people with no critical thinking skills who had only the fuckawfulest reading of the essence of what's going on. Rest in peace, Hedgelord

Yes so essentially it’s like fic that was written by me fjdjdjd I’m kidding but aye. It’s like they decided to do a reboot and went “we don’t want to be predictable, we’re gonna turn this franchise on its head and make it even more edddgyyyy 🤙” except they just made it worse by removing almost everything that made the series good and appealing. Quite a mind blowing decision. But at least they turned it around like 6 years later and made, in my opinion, one of the best additions to the series

Idk of someone has asked this before but how come in some of your speedpaints you start off doing a thumbnail and then in some you don't? I'm just curious behind the thought process or decision making lol

I do thumbnails when I’m not sure about the composition and I want to put more effort into the painting. Sometimes a painting starts with a doodle that I draw without any intent to make it a painting so there’s no thumbnail
