Will Mario and Luigi have red souls or will it just be Mario?

Red souls I’m not sure about since I don’t know if in-universe red souls are a normal thing or is only associated with the player. Mario might have a red soul, and if not he’d have an orange soul (Bravery). Luigi has a purple soul (Perseverance), Peach as a green soul (Kindness), and Bowser just has a white soul (Monster). I think these work well with their personalities, AND it works well with their designs, since the soul colors are complementary/contrasting colors to their designs (blue-orange, red-green, green-purple). This even works with what soul color Bowser would have if he had a human soul, a blue soul (Integrity) (yellow-blue).

As for the Bleck gang, I’m still figuring that one out. My idea so far is Bleck Justice, Nastasia Patience, O’Chunks Bravery, Mimi Integrity. I’d love to hear other people’s interpretations of these characters and what you think would best fit them.

While writing this I did have the idea of Timpani having a red soul, due to the fact that despite dying she still lives on as Tippi, and I feel that could work with the whole “but it refused” thing. I was still figuring out how Tippi would work in this au, and I think I might go with this idea, being a a soul without a body and taking a new form on the Dark World

How does Luigi go from regular, well dressed guy to his Mr. L look in your Deltarune AU? Does he find out about the Bleck Gang being a group of misfits dissatisfied with the real world and preferring hanging out in the Dark one and going '....I can relate to that' and just. Join them? Can he shift between looks at will depending on who he's hanging with? Or is it just more along of the lines of the original SPM plotline where he joins Team Bleck against his will and has no memory/knowledge of his time running around as Mr. L?

I am SO GLAD YOU ASKED. This au is more in line with the SPM story, so yes Luigi would become Mr L against his will. The little drawing of Luigi saying “is there no fire?” Is actually the scene where it happens! Infodump time!

The story takes place in New Donk City, a city that has become a home to humans and monsters after an agreement between the mayor and a monster (Pauline and Donkey Kong). The city was refurbished to fix the problems there and to make it inclusive to all monsters. But one part of the city was left alone, due to its shady business and ties to the mafia. This mafia was run by Blumiere’s father. Similar to the story of SPM, he’s like “hey I don’t want you marrying my son” and sends his men to ‘take care of’ Timpani, which of course angers Blumiere, causing him to kill his father and thus become the new head of the mafia. But he ultimately disbands it, leaving the building they used to be abandoned. Blumiere uses the basement of this building to be the headquarters of his new plan, and creates a dark world within it.

Ok now actually onto Luigi. Alongside the plumbing business, Luigi has taken an internship with a strange scientist named E. Gadd, who just so happens to reside in this old part of the city. One day while Luigi is heading home after working with Gadd, he notices a strange “smoke” leaking from a basement cellar. Him being the guy he is, leaps into action and goes in to help, but when opening the cellar, he gets sucked into the dark world where he meets the gang. They try to hit him with the “oh you’re just dreaming” but Luigi is certain that he just came through a door, causing them to give up and just have Nastasia use her mind control powers on him. Since she only has these powers in the dark world, they make sure to not let Mr L leave the dark world, as it would undo the hypnosis.

My idea for how he becomes Luigi again is that during the equivalent of the Chapter 6 fight, as a last ditch effort he tries to create a dark fountain, causing him and the heroes to fall even deeper into the darkness. This causes Nastasia’s hypnosis to essentially be “out of range” and returns him to normal, leaving him greatly confused.

Bringing back the Mario Deltarune au because yippee I love that game

Year or two ago I made these Mario Dark World designs, and with chapters 3 and 4 coming out it got me back in the mood for this au. I’m trying my best to make the lore work based on the info we have from the game so far, so hopefully down the line Toby doesn’t drop some major bombshell that would totally mess up the story I have for this au

While this au does take place in a Deltarune-like world where humans and monsters live together, I felt that having them be humans (well, besides for one 👀) added more to the story, and made their dark world designs better disguises. They’re a group of misfits, people who feel hurt or unsatisfied by the world, and the dark world is their ideal world. They have the same goal as in SPM where they want to destroy the world in order to make a better new one
