sorry for being Even Slower Than Usual to respond to things and particularly hard to get a hold of this last month or so!!

everything's fine, it's just that my schedule is packed out back-to-back for the most part with very little breathing room, and what wriggle room there is tends to be consumed instantly by unplanned urgencies. this will likely continue until august!

i see your swallow-tailed galacta knight and i raise you:

mourning dove winged/tailed galacta knight

i tend to think so long as he has a (bird) tail of any kind, it's great!!

dove tails are more of the typical layered wedge/rounded shape, and i picked the forked tail design specifically for my own tastes. but this is very much personal preference, and i've definitely seen plenty of folks recently draw him with a rounded tail and dove-inspired wings!

fwiw my galacta knight has wings that are a hybrid of swans (huge, bulky, powerful) and swallow-tailed kites (dangerous, fast) 💖

#asks #my art #galacta knight #there's also no reason for him to have features based on earth bird biology (as an alien) or Very Specific Birds like i've picked #but you see: the bird autism. it simply brings me joy.#i do try to keep his wing silhouette consistent but it's hard as hell with some compositions!!#especially when he has multiple pairs out at once. ouuuughhh. one day i'll draw him with all of them and not chicken out at six #also his tail isn't even as noticeably forked as it could be!! someone could have an even more forked tail #i imagine. hypothetically.
