November Event!

So I randomly thought of this as something cute and something to just throw at your characters for development and well, I’d just love to see it. ‘Cause cuteness. ; u;!

On November 15th is Children’s Shrine Visiting day, where children and their parents go to shrines in order to offer their gratitude for the health and growth of their children. It’s also known as “Shichi-Go-San.”

So what do we plan to do! Well it’s simple!

Members are to write a drabble with a minimum of three paragraphs of four to five sentences each. You may write longer. 

These drabbles must contain your character’s child or children!

These children may either be adopted or their biological.

Now here are the specifications, if you character has a boy they must be the ages of 3 or 5 for the event. If your character has a girl they must be the ages of 3 or 7 years of age for the event. The reason for these specific ages is because it’s literally in the Japanese holiday, they have to be these ages.

This is a day for your character and their child and how much they mean to them. You may not go into detail about who is the other parent of your children but you can make minor references, just no names. This is not about them, this is about your child and your character.

Last but not leasts (thanks to aibou for asking this), your character may also take orphans and sickly children that they are personally taking care of and adore. Heck, you can even make it sad in a way.

Why did they choose the character to RP: Honestly, I’ve been very inactive here as I don’t really have anyone to RP with; most have either deleted, moved, or gone inactive. I want a reason to be on this account so that it isn’t so inactive anymore, like it has been for 4 months on-and-off.

What do you think they will bring to the group: I would hope that I could at least give a fresh perspective of OCs. I know a lot aren’t very good and canon blogs tend to really avoid them, and though I am sure mine is nothing to boast about, I want to at least try to show that not all OCs are absolutely terrible.

How long have you roleplayed?: Around 8 years total on multiple sites, about 2 1/2 of which is on Tumblr.

Are you familiar with the Japanese or English? Or both?: I’m most familiar with the English simply because I started with that for the original and GX, but I do know their Japanese ones. Please give us a paragraph or two of an example of your writing. Or longer:

To say Mayura wasn’t startled a bit by the eight-legged creature coming down to visit the two would be a lie. That wasn’t something she expected, though she was a little surprised how Robin reacted as well. Was he afraid of spiders?

"Don’t worry, I’ll get him." she said, trying to reassure the other as she grabbed the webbed thread the spider dangled by, setting it down a good ways away from him.

"Don’t worry, it’s gone now. Are you alright, Robin?" she asked as she walked back to him, a little worried from how terrified he seemed to be.

Halloween Event

This event won’t start until this upcoming Friday, October 17th. The complete details of the event will be posted a day before. This post however is for those that will participate for the event because of the following reasons.

Your character may die during the Event.

This is a group event ONLY and those participating will be separated into smaller groups by random. You will have no choice where you go.

You will have no choice whether your character DIES or not.

Your character will die a gruesome death which you will write.

The decisions you make during your roleplay determine whether or not your character lives or not.

Kuri and I, have permission to add certain things to your roleplay which your characters/group will have to determine how to proceed. There will be consequences and awards.

You will have the entire event from the 17th to the end of 31st to live through this event. 

For those that are wondering, no your characters aren’t dead forever, but during the event they may die. Please keep this in mind.

For those who want to participate in the Event, send the group a message and your character’s name will be put in a hat which will then be drawn the day the details of the event are posted which is the 16th of October on a Thursday.

The groups are randomized in order for you to interact with other people and because it makes it more horrifying. Remember guys, this is a event which may kill your characters and will possibly have triggers all around it. Those that have triggers who may be participating, I will need the details of your triggers personally in oder to give certain rules to the group you may be assigned to.

So, going to bring this up since the event that is starting soon is what some future events will be.

This event isn't mandatory to be in. You don't have to join, which is why I'm asking people to message the group or our mods that you want in.

However I will put this out and it was already placed in our event rules.

You are randomly put into groups. You have no choice where you go.

This event is based on pure random choice. Meaning even we mods have no control where you go or who dies.

Your characters will die at random times or retain an injury. Again this is done randomly.

If you want to know how we do the random it's by picking names in a hat and at certain points during your roleplays, Kuri and I will figure out what situations to throw at your characters and you figure out how to deal with them. Again this is all drawn by a hat.

You DO have a choice how your characters deal with these problems as well as how they will die.

This is an example of a RP game where a game master throws things at you and you and your group decide what to do and we work around it. If you don't like it, don't join the event. This is sorta like D&D (Dungeon and Dragons) which I would love to repeat in later events.

We are not forcing people to join the event but if you join you are entering the rules of the event. We're not making exceptions for anybody. Sorry, but we mods and a few members actually like what we planned.

Also this event is to try to make our group interact more with each other. I have noticed that many of our members stay within small groups and don't interact with the rest of the members as much. That is not what this group was made for so this event is to try to create more interactions with our other members.

Is there a separate application to fill for an OC?

It is generally the same though...one word of advice.

Don't spam the group with messages. We received five of these which were written in the same way. Being impatient never does any good.

Even though our group is rather small, we do have to do a thing that we already put in our rules.

Clean-up.

We'll be sending a warning to blogs that haven't been active in the last two weeks. If this warning isn't answered in 48 hours we will remove them from our masterlist, making that spot open once more, but don't worry it doesn't mean we won't accept you again.

However if that spot is taken after you have been warned then removed after 48 hours that you will most likely not get it back.

Seto Kaiba Application -- lifeaftercheckmate

Mun’s Name/Nickname: Carrie

Age: 24 (seafood again)

Character they wish to insert: Seto Kaiba (mainly DM but I’ll stretch him to be older for GX if necessary, but I’m pretty unfamiliar with that series outside of Kaiba’s general role in it.)

Why did they choose the character to RP: 

Okay, so I was a psychology and Latin literature major undergrad (now I’m in law school), and I’ve always been drawn to characters that I find psychologically fascinating. Seto truly is one of the most psychologically complex character I’ve come across without having to create headcanons to make him that way. He’s this wonderful paradox of a snobby rich kid who has everything and a scrappy street kid who fought tooth and nail to get everything he has. That balance is an amazing thing to work worth and expand upon. 

Secondly, his childhood was a mess. He suffered unbelievable emotional abuse at his adoptive father’s hands and managed to turn that pain into remarkable determination and perseverance. But he still has that anger and it’s almost crippling at times.

Thirdly, and related to the second, his relationship with Mokuba. It’s just another amazing aspect of his paradoxical personality. He has this fierce and intense loyalty and love for his brother that doesn’t seem to extend any farther than that relationship. You get hints of it when he interacts with other kids (like in the flashback with Alister) and that’s just really touching. He truly does care about other people but you only see such little glimpses of it in the show that it’s fascinating to think what it would take for him to be able to push that giving nature just a little bit further.

Fourthly- piggybacking off the third- his peripheral and antagonistic relationship to the core group of characters is something I love to play with. There are so many times (most notably for me when his soul is banished in the duel with Dartz and he boosts Yami’s life-points) where you almost see him really align his interests with someone else’s in the core group. I especially love his relationship with Yami because Seto always seems to be just that one little step away from really accepting that they’re on the same team. I’d love to see what it takes to get him all the way there.

And back to the Third (Mokuba) point…I just can’t say enough about how much I love their relationship. Seto is just such a different person around Mokuba and their interaction is just a fantastic opportunity to really get at what’s beneath the surface of what he shows to everyone else. I could honestly talk about Kaiba forever and why I chose him, but I feel like that’s probably more than you all wanted to know :)

What do you think they will bring to the group: I think Seto’s a much needed antagonistic figure. He adds a tension to plot lines that’s pretty unique, and not knowing if he’s going to be for or against you makes things a little more interesting.

How long have you roleplayed?: It must be at least 12 years now. I started out (like so many of we 90s children did) on Neopets at a tender pre-teen age. I’ve been on tumblr for 5 years though and I’ve played Jim Moriarty from Sherlock, AOS Spock from Star Trek, and Artemis Fowl.

Are you familiar with the Japanese or English? Or both?: The English, but I’m always willing to research if one of my partners plays in the more Japanese-grounded verse. Please give us a paragraph or two of an example of your writing. Or longer:

It wasn’t until 9.15 that Kaiba actually made his way to his office. Without a firm appointment he hadn’t seen any particular reason to be there on time. The previous night had been spent in a tedious shareholders’ colloquium followed by an even more tedious board of directors’ meeting. The company’s stock was in the middle of an almost shocking climb, and with that increased trading success came an increased speculation about future projects from the corporation.

Needless to say, Seto Kaiba wasn’t particularly disposed to share his new ideas with anyone— let alone prying shareholders and a board of directors that, while not openly treacherous, might not think twice about selling trade secrets for a heavy profit.

So when he finally reached his office, he settled himself behind his large oak desk and pulled open the most recent project files, sifting through reports from the testings over the past few days and not paying any real attention to the time. If Mai came, she’d be shown in. If not, well he had to be here anyway.

Do we have to reserve a spot for an OC? What do we need on the OC's about page?

Generally like most ‘About’ pages we require information about the character. Name, possible nick names, ages, height, eye color, etc. For this OC you are literally writing out a biography about them so any information you can think of is fine.

Especially a little bit of their past, if they are in school, or if they have a job, etc. Roleplayers who play canon characters need to understand who this OC is in great detail so that they may interact with them without having to ask too many questions. 

As for reserving a spot for an OC, not really considering they aren’t characters from the shows and aren’t exactly grabbed by people who want to already RP them. These are your characters so there is no need to put out a reserve spot, but you do have to say when submitting an application that it is an OC. 

We will be checking the information about this OC before we let them in as most of our members are rather picky about them, myself included.
