Also in tpm yoda pointed out pretty early that Anakin was thinking of and missing his mother, and while from a "jedi" point of view i can see why he did that that's still a pretty shitty thing to say to a nine year old ex-slave who just left his only family.
I'm genuinely confused at the "jedi only forbid unhealthy attachments not all love" take that's so popular in fandom it's almost considered canon by now.Because wouldn't then the jedi believe that familial love is inherently unhealthy as they preferred to take in students young, and even if that was only for training convinience wouldn't they be allowed to at least keep in contact with their birth families if they wanted to?Also that just kinda sound like a slippery slope cause the definitions of love and attachment are so wildly discussed upon, and even the purest of realtionships can theoretically turn into something dangerous,so why risk it at all?I understend hookups, but real "unattached" relationships just sound like a stretch. And yes I have read the High Republic (and loved it). Also "a jedi shall know no love" is on the literal aotc poster, and you can't just gloss it over as that being Anakin's perspective cause in the poster it's,in my opinion, pretty clearly presented as a ground rule along the others.
#sr#the jedi were so dogmatic at that point#but it's understandable#after millenia all ideals get too radical#and one could also argue that their unwillingness to see their flaws (as yoda himself points out in aotc) is also in itself an attachment#just to their own ideals instead of to a person

#i know that in canon there are so many different definitions of that rule#and i get it#like it's such an old and wide order of course there's gonna be different philosophies#but saying that realtionships are allowed just not attached ones kinda sounds like you just want to shit on anakin#also romantic relationships are not the only ones supposedly banned in the order#sw#jedi order#not really jedi bashing cause i don't hate them#im just confused cause the movies and the expanded canon material present so many differing stuff

Tcw movie really tried to trick me into thinking this is the same guy after like a month.
#and don't come at me with the “artstyle” excuse#cause so many of his traits have clearly been altered to make him look rougher and “more masculine”#which also makes him look a LOT older#he's 19!!!#tcw should pay for its anakin assasination#and yes i know the artstyle is based on another show called thunderbirds#but that still doesn't excuse all of his softer traits beign completly altered in animation#both looks and personality wise#anti tcw#anakin skywalker

Tcw didn't "fix" the prequels it just erased evrything about their tone and story that the broader audience didn't like/understand in favor of at best a sometimes fun kids tv show where all of the characters from the movies are either watered down versions of themeslves or other characters completly. The prequels are to be read like a melodrama or a classical tragedy while tcw sometimes feels like a parody of an action movie. And yes I AM pissed that that's what's considered peak star wars and the bible of canon when there was so much more intresting clone wars era material out there that got completly trampled in favor of it.

and i don't want to shit on anyone for liking it cause i would NEVER do that, but so many tcw fans act as if it's SO deep and SO mature and SO not a kids show, when there's nothing wrong with enjoying what's clearly children's media even as an adult i think.

It always cracks me up when people want to "hold fictional characters accountale" cause like, did the narrative device kill your grandma?Did the rapresentation of primal human feelings and actions bully you in school? At the end of the day characters are not real people with real toughts and are truly only held accountable when the narrative compels them to be that, and I don't see how that would be the case for the eldritch half-mistic force 22yo expecting father from star wars.
#many such cases#anakin is just an example#not to mention he doesn't exactly go consequence-less#sw#anakin skywalker

Also really really important that they both progressivly start to feel less and less like people and more like ideals, even if at different points of their life, for Padmé when she creates the Amidala persona, and for Anakin, just to mention one, when he "becomes" the Hero with No Fear.
They are the only ones they can be weak with (Anakin even says so directly in the novel "Clone Wars Gambit:Stealth").The only ones they can be normal people with. And that domestic normalcy is something they both crave so badly to escape their respective, restrictive roles.

Hate hate HATE when people say that Anakin and Padmè had nothing in common and try to paint their relationship as a "opposites attract" type of situation.I get why some people might think that on a superficial level but seeing how those two have been my hypefixation for years i will NEVER do superficial.
First of all, what i find an integral part of Padmè's character comes from a (sadly) deleted scene from aotc where she talks about helping a bunch of refugee kids resettle on a different planet after their sun imploded. The childern where never able to adapt tough and die.Part of this is still mantained in the novelization as we can see here:

but to me,an integral part of this specific scene is something that was only in the script;i sadly couldn't find the picture I was looking for but in it she explicitly says that she tried to save them but failed.Which is exactly the kind of expression Anakin uses first to talk of his mother then of her.She knows what it's like to want to save someone,to try to help them and not be able to,and watch them die in front of you, that happened with those kids, that happened with Cordé.She's able to sympathize with him because she shares that feeling.
They're also explicitly presented as extremly stubborn and reckless people, like in the scene where they leave for their refugee ship and Typho and Obi-Wan talk about their worries.
About Padmè's stubborness it's also really important to note that aotc starts with her refusing a security detail until Palpatine urges her to accept, showcasing not only the trust and respect she has for the man,but that her, like Anakin, also falls victim to his manipulations, like we see in episode 1.
Speaking of tpm,a huge plot point in the movie is Padmè and her people being failed by the system, just like Anakin was on a different scale.
She obviously believes in the republic wholeheartedly but she has recognized issues in the diplomatic/bureucratic machine, and can't blame Anakin for being almost disillusioned with it,as she almost tought the same at only 14.
Padmè and Anakin were both extremly intelligent, stubborn, brave and idealistic individuals who were failed by the system and by the adults who failed to protect them several times. And this is just scrathing the surface on both of them. This is clearly not all there is of their relationship,as the codependecy and mutual obsession warrant a completly different post, but it at least sheds some light on some of the similiarties between the two.

not to mention the fact that nothing he says in any of the movies can be placed on a particular end of the politcal spectrum, like he geniunely thinks that what he says is good, but that's just because he doesn't give much of an actual tought to politics.he even says so in aotc when he tells obi-wan not to lecture him on politics.like he was failed by the system as a child and recognizes injustice in the galaxy because he is by no means a stupid person, but his politcal ideologies aren't formed enough for us to place him somewhere.that somewhere is DEFINETLY NOT fascism tho.
Every time someone says Anakin would be a republican/Trump supporter i die a little.Like I get where you're coming from but his support of space fascisim as Vader comes from having spent the first nine years of his life in an orderless, lawless society and then being transported in a supposedly apolitical institution which unknowingly served a corrupt senate, and falling prey to the manipulation of the guy who would then become space Hitler.Unlikely situation to be in for a normal guy in a modern setting.Even in the field scene in aotc it's clear that his stance is the completly misinformed one of a guy that doesn't care nor understand politics enough to have a complex, defined opinion and his support of Palpatine stems from his close relationship with him.His alligiance is stated several times to be with people, not ideas and while his complacency in the face of fascisim is undeniable it's also understandable how someone who spent his whole entire life without a clear sense of hierarchy and order would be so obsessed with those things later in life.
All this to say,in a modern au Anakin wouldn't gaf about politics and would be the loser guy who thinks that they're all the same, until Padmé threatens to leave him if he doesn't go vote.
