it always catches me off guard when I find out an ARMY I thought was normal is a tkkr. because there are some ARMYs on reddit who I see regularly participating in discussions and I've upvoted plenty of their comments before and then suddenly I stumble on them spewing tkk rhetoric about jikook being pushed by the company in a random post šŸ˜ like damn, you really can't trust anyone??? so disappointing. I really thought that person was normal. I'm just so tired of them being everywhere in everything and I'm tired of how far their nasty little conspiracy theories have spread and how they've completely infiltrated the fandom. it's impossible to participate in ARMY spaces without running into them. and I wouldn't even care if they were just normal about jikook but they're ALWAYS jikook/jimin antis to some degree.

This first video of Jungkook doing an interview with Jin and Joon only to simply walk off when he noticed Jimin passing by and stare at him with a smile for a second is cute. You can tell they all heartedly enjoy spending infinite time together because despite knowing Jungkook adores all of his hyungs, he only reacts like that to Jimin and I don't think he's even aware of it at times. He just acts

Your link, anon.
I wish the clip wasn't cropped just when it zooms into JK's face, because if I recall correctly, in the og clip you can see very clearly that Jungkook is looking behind Joon and towards Jimin.
In the original material, it's even more clear how Jungkook literally pauses when he notices Jimin has walked by, then leaves Namjin mid-convo to serve as Jimin's walker, mule, kind bandmate who generously offers piggyback rides after a grueling performance.
You're right that there's a way Jungkook is with only Jimin. And yeah back then I don't think Jungkook had a clue how he reacted to him either. That clip is from late 2017 or early 2018 I think, which was an interesting time because it was just after GCF in Tokyo and just before the insanity that was 2018 BTS where jikook became even closer. I'd argue he's more aware of his actions now, and Jimin is also more conscious about their antics now.
But yeah, back then.... goodness.

Jikook Travel Show + Solo Music Timeline Theory
Alright so Iā€™m slowly losing my mind in the current fandom environment + I think this Jikook drought is starting to mess with my brain so Iā€™m going to share my delusional and increasingly desperate timeline for the Jikook show + their solo music. Itā€™s mostly baseless and probably inaccurate BUT I think it could make a LITTLE senseā€¦
Tumblr media
So it looks like they built a mini era for Taehyung and Fri(end)s around the extra content he prepared before enlistment. I actually told someone I thought all the small content drops were building up to a bigger project ā€” AND I WAS RIGHT ā€” so this totally validated my baseless theory and hereā€™s what Iā€™m thinking.
I wonder if theyā€™re going to use the travel show as promotional content for Jikook and build a mini era around it like they did with Fri(end)s. I think this would be an especially good idea considering Jimin mentioned he wasnā€™t able to prepare as much as he wanted before enlistment. Iā€™m assuming maybe he wasnā€™t able to film a lot of extra content outside of his music and MV (especially based on iirc THs(?) quality over quantity comment).
But thatā€™s okay! Jikook canā€™t go on any variety shows to promote but they actually have a whole variety show of their own they could use to promote themselves instead! It would definitely make Jimin and Jungkook trend (at least within the fandom) and put them somewhat in the public eye. I think itā€™s also the perfect content to bring a portion of ia & casual fans back who would then be able to catch their music announcements easier (which is one of the points of promoting).
BH could be saving the show for a content gap considering itā€™s not really time sensitive, but I still think it would be smarter of them to make the most out of the show and let it serve multiple purposes and promote Jikook. They don't have a lot to work with, so they should make the most out of every piece of content they have imo.
Point two - I could see them using it for FESTA as well. Obviously Jin returning is going to be the big huge mega amazing FESTA event, but Iā€™m wondering if theyā€™re going to want to have some extra content for ARMYs to consume. It would make it so Jin wouldnā€™t have the entirety of FESTA resting on his shoulders either. So if they don't have something else already prepared, the travel show would work great.
AFAIK itā€™s the first proper unit project in CH2 and itā€™s going to definitely have some OT7 vibes. Iā€™m sure Jikook are going to talk about the group, missing the other members, what they want to do when theyā€™re all back together ā€” stuff like that. The other members might even make cameos (YG talked to them on the phone when they were in NY, Iā€™d be surprised if they didnā€™t video call TH at some point, and thereā€™s always the possibility that vminkook filmed something together in Jeju).
Itā€™ll probably also be a bit nostalgic for everyone who misses BV and ITS and might have some throwbacks to previous BTS vacations ā€” which is perfect for FESTA month! I think with BTS being ia it would be smart to cater to ARMYs who are probably going to be especially emotional and missing BTS as well as remind those who have started to drift of that bond and partial OT7 dynamic that drew many in to begin with. I think this sort of content has been something ARMYs have been really deprived of so itā€™s definitely going to be a big deal imho. Itā€™s the most CH1 like content weā€™re getting so far in CH2.
If they donā€™t release the show during June, I could still see them dropping the teasers/trailer during FESTA. That alone would bring a lot of excitement and hype and add to the festivities and would be a great time to advertise the show.
Also, Jikook described it as a gift, and FESTA is the perfect time for those soā€¦
If they donā€™t release it for FESTA (or possibly just tease it) I still think it makes a lot of sense as a summer release for several reasons.
For one, the first part of the show was recorded right when JK released Seven. We know that JK is likely releasing more music this summer so that would actually tie in perfectly. One of my biggest desires for the show is to hear them talk a little bit about their thoughts and feelings on their solos careers (unrealistic I know lmao) but if they reference that at all, it ties even better into new music releases. Especially if they reference or talk about Seven right before JK releases another summer single (or album) around the same time period. It works really well for either of them tbh!
The first half of the show is also going to have summery vibes because of when it was recorded, so releasing during the summer is sort of fitting. This is also the sort of content I think we historically got around summer/fall?
So all of this suggests a possible timeline where we get both Jikookā€™s music and their show in the same possibly 2-3 month time period around the summer. Fri(end)s only had a two week gap between HOTS so we know they arenā€™t worried about spacing these projects too far from each other, however I would hope theyā€™d have more sense then to have Jikookā€™s music overlap or be too close together šŸ˜ I donā€™t think we could handle the akgae wars if that happened šŸ˜
Anyways, we know for sure that JK is dropping something in the summer based on his comment during his live (he might just have been referencing the show, but Iā€™m pretty sure most of us took it to mean music). But as far as Jimin, we donā€™t really have any hints about when his music is dropping that Iā€™m aware of unfortunately? But I could see summer making a lot of sense actually!
I canā€™t remember the exact wording he used but I remember him telling ARMYs that his next release would be something lighter. And during his documentary screening he listed out all the things that he knows ARMYs would like to see from him. I think if heā€™s going for something lighter that caters more towards ARMYs interests and expectations summer would be a very smart and fitting month to release (and it depends on how he wants to market and promote it ā€” are we going for charts with remixes, or is it going to be just one version no CDs kind of deal ā€” because if itā€™s the prior, summer would fit better imo).
Anyways, we also do know Jimin filmed something at the hot springsā€¦ and I meanā€¦ waterā€¦ wetā€¦ hot springsā€¦ (shirtless??)... I meanā€¦ that could be pretty summery actually right? šŸ„µ
Still he could land in May or September (I donā€™t think itā€™s going to be as late as October but possibly. They could tie it into his birthday and if JK released in August it would still fit the travel show theory).
I think this theory also makes sense because the way they were talking in that live before enlistment they sort of made it sound like their content was to tide us over until Jin was back. Obviously thereā€™s no way for the three remaining members to release their projects before Jin returns (nor would that even make a lot of sense to begin with) but if you think of it as them keeping us busy until Jin has time to prepare his album it works actually!
Jin is going to need time to prepare and record his album, MV, and whatever other promotional content he had in mind + probably rest a little. This gives him that time while keeping ARMYs busy, and you know this is just a nice big free gap of time to drop projects whereas when Jin is active (and then JH) itā€™ll be a bit busier and probably more complicated to organize.
It also would work because JH definitely has plans for when he gets out of the military, so by the time JN1 comes out and has been promoted (maybe heā€™ll even do a single first and then an album) JH will be back and have had some time to rest and probably prepare whatever he had in mind. Some people have speculated that he might do a mini tour which actually would fit perfectly but Iā€™m not sure how much of a stretch that is. If anyone could do it though, it would be JH!
So yeah, enlisted members all releasing and finishing off their big projects pre-JN1 just makes sense as 2seok will then take over and have the attention on them. I could be wrong, but it kind of fits nicely in my mind lol.
The big question mark is Namjoon because honestly I thought he would be one of the first members to release with the way he was teasing something but now I have no clue. He also said that it was going to have different vibes than indigo iirc so I don't know if he would want to release in the fall/winter months again or if he would actually want to go for a summer release too. I still think the Jikook thing could work even if he releases in summer, it might just shift Jimin to releasing more in the fall.
Anyways, first few months of 2024 we were in Taehyung era, which led into HOTS era which will last until May, which leads into June FESTA and Jinā€™s return. JK will have an era in the summer, and if we slot minimoni into summer & early fall it would pretty much perfectly cover all of the empty time until JN1 which is followed by JH return and project. I just think it fits nicely.
That still leaves a lot of space in 2025 but I think that would be better for 2seok to cover, and if the JH tour rumors are true that would actually be perfect (please donā€™t make me wait until 2025 for Jimin šŸ˜«).
Like I know this timeline isnā€™t actually surprising or revolutionary because most people kind of expected all of this to drop in these months lmao because itā€™s not like thereā€™s actually a ton of time left, but applying some sort of logic around it helped me I guess šŸ˜ž All the uncertainty makes it seem like Iā€™m never going to see Jimin again (at least we know JK in the summer) and I need to gaslight myself into having some sort of expectations otherwise every day is too dark.
Hoping some of this is right but don't come @ me if it's not lol šŸ¤”šŸ˜©

What do you think are the chances SM will drop out of the big 4 eventually soon? All I hear about them recently is how the company CEOs are milking it for all they can without care, I know big ships sink longer but it can't last forever, and Kakao doesn't seem to do SM much good too. Both companies are quite a pair to be honest, lawsuits, investigations and all, Bang PD must be happy he left that disaster for Kakao to deal with šŸ˜ I wonder how SM falling apart would influence the entertainment industry.
***
ā€œeventually soonā€ feels like an oxymoron lol, but Iā€™ll assume you mean anytime in the next 5 years.
So what are the chances SM drops out?
My gut feeling is 0%. (With a caveat in point 3). SM is still going to be a prominent company in this space for the next 5 years for three reasons.
1. K-pop stans. That company has lasted this long because itā€™s perfected the model of k-pop - gamifying music consumption - on the largest swarth of fans for the longest time, longer than any other k-pop company. In fact Iā€™d say youā€™ve not really met a company stan until youā€™ve met an SM stan because those creatures are the blueprint. Like, I see the way they move, decades later, and feel some respect for Lee Sooman because heā€™s created a formidable army thatā€™s kept his company rolling through cultism scandals, a government subpoena, an Interpol indictment, several lawsuits from idols under his management, and a HYBE takeoverā€¦ for starters.
SM dominated 1st and 2nd gen k-pop (alongside YG and JYP for 2nd gen) and a lot of k-pop stans who got in back then were pre-teens and teens. K-pop dominated by SM wasnā€™t just a hobby for those people, it was their childhood. And they cherish it as such, which also means bias on SM generally skews the way youā€™d expect. Many 1st and 2nd gen k-pop stans are still very active, theyā€™ve grown up now and are no longer the pre-teens lost in the lights learning about Girls Generation. No. Now, those stans are now the ā€˜tastemakersā€™ of k-pop spaces. Much of the mythos around the Big 3 is created and actively sustained by this group of k-pop stans. They are the people youā€™d typically see being k-pop ā€˜journalistsā€™ today, they run the main podcasts on k-pop, they moderate the main k-pop forums both in Korea and internationally, and so on. They play a significant part in driving ā€˜consensus k-popā€™ opinions (though ARMYs seem to also make sure they have a voice). K-pop stans will be the first people to tell you how much they ā€œhateā€ SM for being so shitty in treating their idols, but the bias towards SM in k-pop spaces is implicit. And no, itā€™s not because of the ā€˜vocalsā€™.
2. SMā€™s cost base is low: (I rambled a lot in the first point and now jet lag is kicking in so Iā€™ll try to keep this point brief.) SM spends next to nothing on their staff and talent. Part of the reason HYBE and Kakao could acquire them relatively easily last year, was because that company has next to no cost base, compared to other Big 4 companies. Almost every costing ratio has SM at the bottom compared to peers (excluding legal fees and other non-operating costs); on Korean blinds their employees self-report being the lowest paid among the Big4; Black composers SM hires have reported to The Guardian that the company doesnā€™t pay themā€¦ My point being, even if half of SMā€™s idol roster stopped putting out music for 1 year, the companyā€™s cost base is so low that theyā€™d still be afloat. Aside from all the auxiliary businesses SM is involved in (they also own hotels in Korea and other businesses), the company is more nimble than it seems at first glance and just needs a bit more time to get stable again.
Which brings me to my 3rd point.
3. New Groups. By this time next year I expect at least one of three things to have happened to SM. Iā€™ll list two. (1) Thereā€™s M&A with a Western music label, and (2) SM (as a standalone entity) are back at the topline ratios they were at in 2019. Scenario 2 is already feasible with SMā€™s Moon&Back partnership, the new girl group debuting in 2024/2025, and RIIZE maintaining their current momentum, even as NCT begins enlisting this year. Nothing revives a company like SM better than new blood, and after the last few years of stagnation, SM is likely to see significant growth from those projects.
I agree with you that nothing lasts forever, empires rise and fall and HYBE will too at some point. And so eventually, SM as we know it will cease to exist. But Iā€™m not expecting it to be anytime soon, save the caveats in point 3.
