Hi love! Just want to say that I adore your nanami fic! Quite possibly my fave on this site rn!! It's so soft and tender to see Nanami as a single father. Gentle yet stern is one of my fave things about him and to see him being such a sweet father just makes me 🥰🥰🥰 so good lol the banter between him and reader is also perfectly in character! His dry wit and charm is what makes Nanami, Nanami and you got it so perfectly! Love seeing Gojo and his annoying presence as well as his slight bickering with Utahime and Nanami too lmaoo good luck on future chapters! I'll be sure to read more from you! he doesn’t think he’ll ever be ready. there are times he thinks he should find his way back to you for his own sanity, so when he crawls into the empty side of the bed - his side of the bed - he knows you've already been waiting.

even if he was finally ready, he has nothing to offer you, nothing left to give.

your fingers find your way to his cheek, moonlight reflecting in his dark eyes.

“suguru.” 

he hadn’t realized he was holding his breath. 

your thumb brushes against his cheekbone and goosebumps line his neck, running down to the tips of his fingers. there is nothing more familiar to him than your touch. 

breathe. 

he exhales. how long has it been since he’s felt the air in his lungs? how long has he been holding his breath? 

his stomach wrenches. he thinks that maybe if he had stayed that night, next to you, things may have turned out alright. he thinks he wouldn’t feel the sickening twist of his heart right now, as he lays here next to you. 

he thinks he could’ve been happy. 

his arm finds its way to your flesh, wrapping around your waist. his fingers tremble, delicately resting over the small of your back. 

words coat his throat like cough syrup - words that feel like tar against the roof of his mouth, keeping his lips shut tight. words that he should say aloud, that he wants to say aloud. words that he keeps to himself.

he kisses you, long and hard. he kisses you to make sure you're still next to him, to make sure you're still his home. he kisses you until you have forgotten to breathe. 

he kisses you to ground himself.

words have always been better left unspoken. 

your arms stretch into an empty bed when the sunlight pours in. every bone sinks deep into the mattress as doubt crawls up your skin.

had you imagined it? 

you reach for the sticky note plastered on your nightstand. 

“i’ll be back.”
