LiveAndLetRain's side blog for all things Star Wars - Primary topics are the Skywalkers and Twi'lek Headcanons and Worldbuilding which can also be found on the index page "Welcome to Ryloth" in the sidebar. I have a considerable amount of music headcanons and musical character aesthetics. Also AUs. All the AUs.

this is a confession to the star wars fandom because I have to get this off my chest. last summer just for fun I taught myself to read aurebesh and. you fanartists have Got to Continue putting the most Hilarious stuff into the background of your art because it is literally my favorite thing
here’s a couple of excellent things I’ve read since I started keeping a list just last month:
- “I hate drawing lightsabers”
- “Idk what to put here”
- “stupid fucking sign”
- “eat paste, it’s good”
- an entire news article on a phone screen which I actually found really impressive
- a few funny misspellings but the best one so far was ahsoka somehow becoming “asock”
- wanted poster of obi wan that read “wanted for fashion crimes”. the caption translated it as “wanted for high treason”. like blatantly lying to my face. love it.
- door on a ship was labeled “cake storage”
- “shopping list: frogs, hair gel, lightsaber polish”
and my personal favorite:
- “if you’re reading this you’re a fucking nerd”

Just stumbled upon a god tier response to crybaby piss boys being butt hurt over the Kenobi series
Me trapped behind a register at work listening to a fanboy sniffle and sob over the show.
Him: They made Obi-Wan and Vader pathetic and I think anything outside of pew pew fights and actual characterization is stupid
Me: “I’m sorry you couldn’t engage with the more advanced extended universe content! If you felt confused over the characterizations in line with Lucas’s vision I have several books I can recommend to you that will get you up to speed so you can understand new canon content coming out!”
Him:gobsmacked and offended beyond belief that I inferred he’s too stupid to understand basic Star Wars canon but can’t say anything because I’ve put on the uncanny cheerfulness of a retail worker who can’t tell you you’re practically brain dead but who you can very well tell through tone is telling you you’re brain dead.
Him:I uNdErStAnd Star Wars canon!
Me: 🙂 oh I’m sure! I just know not everyone has read all the books and listened to interviews with Lucas like I have! I understand the nuances of meta can be lost through not knowing all of canon beyond the movies!
I 100% conned this man into buying both Matthew Stover’s Revenge of the Sith AND Brotherhood out of sheer embarrassment of a woman inferring he was a fake fanboy and that I was far better read than him. 10/10 recommend

anyway sound off. at what stage do ppl think Han figured out the Force was real. the boring answer is after seeing Obi-wan vanish but i think he could rationalise that away as his eyes playing tricks on him. what do we think.

I picked up a copy of "The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire" by Dr. Chris Kempshall and was delightfully surprised. Kempshall is a World War I historian and a respected one at that, known for his modern media analyses and research on how contemporary art reflects and discusses war. This is precisely my shit, as most of you know, and after seeing who it was written by I did a little excited jig and thought, oh god I cannot wait for this analyses of Star Wars through the scope of the rise of fascism and the World Wars.
So imagine my delight when I start reading the historian's introduction only to realize this acclaimed academic has written a Galactic Empire history book from the perspective and lens from a historian within the Star Wars universe. It truly has been such a delight and for anyone in the historical field it's phenomenal to see the recreation of historical methodology and historiography from the in universe perspective of a fictional world. 10/10

Watching Star Wars in chronological order is so funny.
Obi-Wan Kenobi really took one look at R2D2 in the middle of the desert and said “No, Luke, I’ve never seen this fucking droid in my life. Looks like a real bitch though. Not that I’d know. This is my first time meeting the asshole.”
No one in that whole franchise was Gatekeep-Gasslight-Girlbossing quite like “Ben” Kenobi, regular human-man.
