      he cocks his head to the side, brows knitting together as he contemplates the outfit. it doesn’t look like stevie’s normal attire, but it doesn’t look bad. honestly, it reminds him of something one of his moms would wear. “wait— i thought we were just shopping for regular clothes,” he breathes, confusion written all over him. “who’s carole baskin? and.. why are you trying to dress like her? halloween is nowhere in sight, dude.”

“well,” she looks down at the floral top. it reminds her of her grandmother, but not in a good way, “this could be regular clothes. if i cut it right...” she pursed her lips in an attempt to envision it, though she wasn’t much of a visionary. “carole baskin is a cool cat,” she explains as though it’s the most obvious thing in the world, “that fed her husband to tigers. haven’t you seen tiger king?” she cocks her head to the side in question, before sighing as she places the shirt back into the rack. “first of all, it’s never too early to plan your halloween party. and second of all, i was told to show up dressed as a tiger king character, and that’s all the information i have.”

Nathan laughed. “I haven’t seen Tiger King, believe it or not… I heard it’s a pretty crazy story though, if it’s true.” He shrugged, lounging on one of the waiting chairs. “What’s the costume for?”

“You haven’t?” Stevie asks, brows furrowed, “what the hell have you been doing with your weekends? It takes like, five hours to get through, tops, dude.” She looks down at the shirt again before deciding against it and sticking it back on the rack. “Tiger King dinner-party-thing. Or something,” she scrunches her nose, turning to look at the other. “Wanna come? You could be Jeff.”

“Where the hell are you going dressed like that?” the blonde asked, staring at the top for what felt an eternity. “I hate the colors of that.. seriously. You’ll have to try it on if you’d like to change my mind.” Crossing her arms over her chest, Nirvana turned her attention to the flower crown. “That, I suppose, you can get. It’s not that bad. I saw one with pink flowers, but they weren’t really my style. None of this is.” ” 

“All I was told,” she says with a hefty sigh, “was to dress up as someone from Tiger King. And I can’t pull off a Joe Exotic mullet so...Carole it is,” she says with a shrug, placing the shirt that clearly didn’t make the cut back onto the rack. “Now you...you could probably pull of a Joe Exotic look. I can see it,” she grins, plucking an unflattering patterned shirt off the rack and holding it up to Nirvana. “Please tell me you’ll come?”

Adrian winced at the clash of patterns that were selected, but he didn’t care enough to point it out. Letting out a defeated sigh, he shrugged before gesturing. “A murderer of aesthetic maybe.” He said under his breath before actually speaking up. “I guess? It doesn’t really scream ‘hello, you cool cats and kittens’ think more along the lines of subtle lavender peasant tops, or maybe just go in for the kill with tiger print, you know?” 

“Ugh,” Stevie groaned, letting out an exasperated sigh as she stuck the top back on the rack. This was proving to be a far more difficult task than she’d intended, and she was attempting to ball on a budget. “What the hell is a peasant top, anyway? i haven’t bought anything but flannels and t-shirts since i was like fourteen.”

“Stunning,” Holly mused with a grin, thinking the style reminded her of someone else she knew closely. But she could easily see the resemblance to the intended character. “Showstopping. Fantastic. Groundbreaking. Can I ask, why? And do you have a Joe Exotic lined up or am I just supposed to get in line?”

“Oh stop it,” Stevie says, waving off the compliments with her hand jokingly, a grin spread across her features as she takes a dramatic bow. “I do what I can,” she adds, giving herself a spin for good measure. “Going to a Tiger King themed kick back. Please come as Joe Exotic — I can find you the perfect fake brow piercing and everything.”

Adi was admittedly a little distracted despite having agreed to accompany Stevie to go clothes shopping. Her eyes were glued to her phone the entire time, only giving her companion quick glances whenever they’d call her attention. “Uh… yeah, yeah… Carole… King would be proud…” she says absent-mindedly, her thumbs tapping the screen at light speed. She’s barely looked at Stevie, really, and now her eyes are back on the phone.

Stevie blinked, looked down at the shirt, then back up at Adi in confusion. “Iconic singer-songwriter is definitely not the look I was going for,” she replies, and though it’s meant to be a joke, she has a feeling Adi is for too distracted to interpret it as such. “What the hell’s going on on that phone anyway? You’ve barely looked up since we got here.”

Originally from a small suburban town on the outskirts of San Francisco (she’ll tell you she’s just from San Francisco)

She has a little brother who is 4 years younger and who she thinks is a complete twerp but she loves him anyway I guess

Her parents were fairly lenient growing up. If they showed interest in anything, their parents would encourage them to pursue it, but they never pushed too hard. No ideas were put to shame in the Bleu household. You’re 13 and want to splatter paint your room because you saw it on Tumblr? Sure, creative expression. In the same vein, they weren’t punished for not excelling. They expected their kids to try their best, but never expected them to be the best. So when Stevie got a C in Algebra in the 10th grade, they kind of just said — at least you tried your hardest!

Started playing clarinet in the 4th grade and yes she was in marching band in high school and no we do not talk about this time

Also she went to a private Catholic school. This had less to do with religion (she was raised Jewish, actually) and more to do with the education that the school offered

She picked up playing bass when she was 14 which is the instrument she ultimately ended up sticking with

Went to NYU for college, lived there for 4 years, became the embodiment of a Williamsburg hipster 

Moved back west after graduation, so she’s been living in Silverlake for just under a year

She’s the bassist in a small indie band called Free Prophets. They sound like Allah-Las and they have virtually no following lmao. They mostly just play bar gigs, Sofar Sounds shows in people’s living rooms, and Concerts in the Park during the summer days. That being said, Stevie isn’t really chasing fame in the slightest. She kinda just likes grooving and jam sessions, she’s not really interested in playing stadiums and all that BS anyway

Obviously that is not enough to make a living so she also works at funkytown thrift store during the day, and teaches clarinet/bass/guitar/piano to kids.

Stevie never had a questioning phase they pretty much always knew they were into girls. And being from a family that was so communicative and open, she never really felt the need to hide anything. She came out as gay in 10th grade whens he was 15
