this week in "the devil works fast but fic writers work faster", have three short fic about the blue morning-after robe, based on that interview with Gypsy Taylor:

Look Back (M, 4439) by @theyellowestmustard - as a fellow tragedy, uh, dis-enjoyer, I'm with Ed on his reaction to Orpheus and Eurydice.

Also as a side note, I am collecting fics where Ed tells either Stede, the crew, or both, about what Izzy said to him in 1x10 (etc), and as of today there are now five bookmarks in that collection, plus my own fic on that theme.

guys the point of "izzy the spewer" is not that izzy suffers from chronic digestive issues. there is no evidence of that except that he had tummy problems this one time. the point of it is "guy who thinks he is the best pirate and should be in charge of other pirates gets seasick, which is funny because it means he immediately failed in a super obvious way at doing perhaps the single most basic pirate thing"

you could argue that's ableist if you want to take the stance that playing a character's incompetence for laughs is always inherently ableist, but if that's your stance i'd expect you to have a bigger problem with the show's portrayal of stede than of izzy, because stede's incompetence and physical clumsiness and overestimation of his own abilities is played for laughs all the time

Okay, I've been thinking about this post non-stop 24/7. I rarely post wips and sketches, but Ed and Stede made me do it. Needless to say this is all I can afford for now, but I had to get it out of my system. 😩

i think the second you start putting together a list of the writers and what their gender/sexuality identities are for the sake of proving the ofmd writers room isn’t as queer as you think it should be you’re already in too deep. the fact that an izzy fan did all that AND went even FURTHER and just openly assumed everyone was cishet if they couldn’t immediately find evidence otherwise is beyond parody. i can’t even find it in me to be upset or anything i’m just amazed at how little self-awareness some ppl have. how do you type all that up and post it without ever stopping to think “wait is this a shitty thing i’m doing” like babe what is WRONG with you

actually i think Izzy has always been a figment of Ed's imagination like Badminton was to Stede - it was supposed to be a parallel - and Izzy was never a real character, he's a manifestation of everything Ed hates about himself come to life in the form of all things he despises and loathes - the palest of white people, loud and boorish, a bully through and through, and the fact that he only found his queer joy at the exact moment Ed and Stede made love is testatemnt to this theory, and he died when Ed no longer needed a ghost substitute of his father, in this Ted talk i will-
