Today, we say goodbye to Brian Wilson, who passed away at 82. A musical genius and one of the greatest songwriters of our time, Brian’s innovative melodies and lush harmonies with the Beach Boys—songs like “Good Vibrations” and “God Only Knows”—forever changed music.
Over the years, I saw the Beach Boys in concert numerous times, starting with an unforgettable show in August 1975 at the New Haven Coliseum, opened by the Captain & Tennille.
The only time I saw Brian perform with them was at Sunfest ’79 at the Yale Bowl on July 14, 1979, with Eddie Money and The Cars as openers. That afternoon, just as the Beach Boys were about to start, someone from the crowd tossed a large beach ball onto the stage.
Brian, who struggled with drug and mental health issues over the years (beautifully captured in the biographical film “Love and Mercy”), abruptly left his piano and walked offstage. An announcement followed, stating Brian would only perform if nothing else was thrown. He returned, and the show was pure magic, filled with their timeless hits.
On a personal note, I also had the pleasure of meeting Brian’s daughters, Carnie and Wendy, during their chart-topping days with Wilson Phillips. Their talent carried on his immense legacy.
Rest in peace, Brian, Your music will echo forever. 🌊🎶

50 YEARS ago today - on June 8, 1975 - I saw Fleetwood Mac in concert for the first time at the Palace Theater in my hometown of Waterbury, СТ.
Truth be told, I had NO idea who they were when my friend Jean Lyons convinced me to go. Little did I know, I was about to witness pure magic!
It was the band's first tour with their legendary lineup: Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Christine McVie, Mick Fleetwood, and John McVie. The stage came alive with hits like "Over My Head," “Rhiannon," "Say You Love Me," and the soul-stirring "Landslide."
I was completely captivated by Stevie Nicks - her bewitching bohemian style, those flowing costumes, and her iconic twirling like a rock 'n' roll enchantress. I was HOOKED!
Leaving the Palace that night, I had this unshakable feeling I'd just seen the start of something MASSIVE. And now, 50 years on, I’m still grateful for that unforgettable experience!🌟
