A project for the Florence Project (firrp.org) These posters were used for the organization’s social media platforms and websites. The typography and style I used is inspired by artist, Barbara Kruger. I took this approach because the use of the color red is useful when sending a powerful message. The people detained in the ICE detention facilities have no voice and the use of art is an option to speak up for them.

To get back track and warm up, I made a few collages using found images and images from Extradoridnary Things to Cut Out and Collage by Maria Rivans.

I’ve been in Nevada for a while now and felt the store that I work at needed tourism cards. We get a lot of customers -- both far away and near that request them.
I felt like a fraud making these because I thought I knew nothing about Nevada. I made myself a traitor to my previous hometown, Monterey County because I’ve never made tourism cards when I lived there.
However, my attitude about making tourism cards in Monterey was, “IT’S SUCH AN EASY and UNORIGINAL SELL.” I was super ungrateful to even think about my admiration of home through art.
When making my Nevada cards (with ink, watercolor, and embossing powders), I felt a sense of pride and thought, “WOW, I LIVE IN THE DESERT and it’s beautiful.” Living in the desert was nothing I thought about doing while living by the Pacific Ocean. I felt regret for not taking this much pride in the lush greenery and coastal lines of the Monterey Bay. When I lived there, I was always outside and didn’t draw any landscapes, as I did here in Vegas.
Tourism cards are an easy sell for the locals and visitors because it is a sentiment of pride for their hometown or visit. Doesn’t matter how awful or too simple “home” is translated through the art process, just as long as “heart” was felt when making them.
By the way, all three of my Nevada cards sold. =D

Sorry I haven't uploaded anything! But still making things! I've been working at Paper Source for the past 2 years and using my mixed media skills in card making. Here are some stationary sets I've made with both new and upcycled wrapping paper! Along with stamps and handlettering. Will post more soon!

At the City of Seaside, my supervisor Sandra Gray assigned me to teach a mural class. The mural was made on the fence at the mini golf course at the Youth Center at 1136 Wheeler Street. I NEVER TAUGHT A MURAL CLASS, nor have A STRONG background in painting.
Thanks Adam Gota (pictured) for assisting me!
All of a sudden I’m a painter. Best challenge and biggest risk taken.

I had the privilege to learn from professional cinematographers (Frederich Goodrich, Vilmos Zsigmond, and Bruce Logan) as my first FILM SCHOOL experience at CSU-Summer Arts Experience with the Masters.
I co-wrote this video (above) with a group of classmates. Enjoy!
