But you’re safe now.” “That’s a pretty nasty bruise. Want some ice?” “Does it still hurt?” “I don’t think a band aid is gonna fix this…” “Whoa, hey, stay with me! You’re as white as a ghost. Don’t pass out.” “Damn, that must hurt. I’m sure there are some painkillers around here.” “You have to be seen by a doctor. This isn’t going to heal on its own.” “It looks broken. Can you move it at all?” “Here, lean on me. I’ll support you.” “I’m not going to leave you behind. If need be, I’ll carry you.” “I’m going to pick you up now, okay? Just hold on to me.” “Everything is going to be okay. Just hang in there.”

“I don’t feel so good.” “It’s seeping through the bandages.” “My head is throbbing. I think I have a concussion.” “I can barely breathe, it hurts so bad!” “It looks worse than it is. I’m sure it’ll be gone in a couple of days…” “You should see the other one.” “Don’t look at me like that. I don’t want your pity.” “It was my fault, really. I wasn’t paying attention and got hit in the face.” “Getting stabbed wasn’t really on my bucket list.” “I don’t think I can walk.” “Leave me behind, please. I’m just going to slow you down.” “Am I going to die?” “I can’t stop the bleeding.” “I think the bruise matches my eye color.” “Don’t touch it, please! It hurts.” “I don’t want to go to a hospital. I hate doctors!”

About

Connor Bowers is just your typical teenage boy who cares just a little too much about what people think of him. All he really wants is to be accepted (or rather adored) by his friends and family but that can be tricky when they all want separate things from him. His mother raised a loving boy who knows right from wrong and his uncle...well, he’s always trying to coax out a mini-me out of Connor. All of this is a normal part of a teenager finding their identity, but Connor has taken a much different approach. Instead of finding a happy medium that pleases everyone or even figuring out what matters most to him he has created several personas. He is the gentle boy his mother raised, the monster his uncle created, the goofball that Richie fell in love with, and Derry’s worst bully in training thanks to Henry.

Connor’s fragmented sense of self has caused him to be rather insecure. When he first meets someone, it can take him a long time to warm up to them which makes him appear rather shy. The whole time he’s trying to observe that person so he can become what he thinks they would like. He’s very conscious of what he does and some may even call him manipulative for doing so. Despite that, he’s not malicious and doesn’t seek to hurt people. This tendency first developed as a means to survive his abusive uncle so it only comes as a coping method to protect himself. The only problem is sometimes people do get hurt when they get caught in between two of his faces. Richie so happened to be one of them.
