After seeing them grow little from babies you come to love them. Most of the residents love and take care of them. This guy says he's hired by the management. Everyone is so upset. There is a duck sanctuary just a few miles away (duckhaven.net). This should be a crime because it's unnecessary and done with cruelty.

The guy was using a pellet gun and didn't know what he was doing. He kept shooting its body. It took him another five minutes to kill that poor thing. Shooing him on the middle of the dock, over and over and over. It was horrific! I can imagine what it's doing to the child. It's not like taking your son duck hunting. He had to watch my fiance' crying and all the drama doing it caused. You should have seen the boy's face. I went upstairs and had to throw up and am still shaking. He and the management have violated Florida Statute 828.12 because it was done inhumanely. It's also against Federal law.

Let the management at 954-791-8778 and let them know this is unacceptable and totally unnecessary. We are organizing to pay to hire someone to truly relocate the rest.

No ID badge. No uniform. Running around with a replica 12 gauge pellet gun with a scope. He was also seen prowling around at night with a flashlight a few days before. This is no professional. You would think the management would warn residents there will be a duck exterminator toting what looks like a 12 gauge shotgun with a scope. This is what can happen. While I understand their population needs to be controlled, it's just that if the management wasn't cheap they could hire a professional who isn't going to traumatize the residents and maybe kill them in the manner that's legal, or god forbid, donate some money to take them to the sanctuary a few miles away. It turns out we can bring the ducks free if we can just drop them off.

UPDATE: 7/9/19: They killed the father. We find out today they're going to get rid of the other fifteen babies and the mother too. Multiple news outlets contacted. We were interviewed by WSVN and WFOR news so far.

And for those saying they carry disease. Please educate yourself. This is from the Florida Department of Health, "No public health agency, including the United States Centers for Disease Control, has any evidence that Muscovy ducks or their droppings present any health threat to human beings. The sole exception is when small children, the elderly and those with immune system problems directly handle newly hatched chicks, then exposure to salmonella can occur."
