On our visit to a Wellington this weekend we met @thathumbleman and co occupying the space outside the Beehive parliamentary building with this message for government 📢⚠️ We spoke to him about this campaign to get the NZ government to declare a climate emergency. When you don't have a scroll saw... MAKE ONE! Here's a scroll saw I cobbled together when I needed to cut out some small and intrecate shapes. Utilising a jigsaw, I installed a coping saw blade and made a sprungloaded frame to allow it to reciprocate. Walking along Ngaranui beach in Raglan for 5-10 minutes and I managed to pick up 44 pieces of plastic. Most pieces in this photo pose a lethal threat to marine wildlife. Often mistaken for food, fish and sea birds eat micro plastics, which make them think that they are full, but actually poison and kill them from malnutrition. We can all prevent this by using less plastic, and by looking after our beaches by helping at beach cleaning events. I run a beach cleaning organisation called @jamjarbeachclean and we focus on collecting micro plastics on beaches and shorelines. An awesome company called @raglancoconutyoghurt are currently rewarding people who clean beaches by giving away free gourmet coconut yoghurt in return for counting the pieces of plastic you collect - visit their website and check out their 1 million pieces project to see how you can get involved.
