A concept in my head that been rolling around a lot:

Hanahaki, but instead of it being triggered by unrequited love, it's triggered because all the love you have for a person turns inwards because you're too afraid to show it.

So it kills you, not because someone doesn't love you back, but because you don't let it out and all that love you have stored, that could grow into something beautiful, turns on you and turns your insides beautiful.

Love is growth, and without any place for it to grow outside, it grows in. If you confess, reciprocated or not, the disease goes away because it's no longer trapped. It gives self-destruction a new meaning.

i might be in love. i've known him since i was in third grade and even though we're not the closest, there's just something about him. i don't know what it is, but it keeps drawing me back to him. over and over and over again. sometimes i think and i feel so fucking stupid for feeling this way but then i lock eyes with him across a room and all my doubt goes away...

to me, it's like that one hindi song lyric. tu mera koi na hoke bhi kuch lage. loosely translated, you're nothing to me but you're also my everything. if you asked me to put his role in my life into words, i wouldn't know what to say. because he doesn't directly play a role in my life. but still, i care so much. every time i hear his name, i feel something. every time i see him, i feel something. he consumes me.

he makes me feel the widest range of emotions possible. which is a good thing, i think. sometimes he makes me angry or sad, like when he was talking to that other girl two years ago. sometimes he makes me scared, like the time he got sick last year and all but fell off the face of the earth for 2 weeks. but usually, he makes me so happy, like at the dance two years ago or our conversations in the science rooms.

and the association. oh god, everything reminds me of him. from the color black to physics to dancing to cherries to fucking knife talk by drake. why the fuck does everything remind me of him? if you asked me to tell you the last time i didn't think of him, i wouldn't have an answer. because i think of him almost every second of every day. how he is, what he's doing, how he's feeling, etc.

maybe this is love, maybe it isn't. who knows? but the thought of him and the feeling he evokes in me brings me solace on my worst days. it's something i can turn to whenever i'm feeling low, whenever i'm feeling tainted, and it's like the panacea to my life. and quite frankly, i wouldn't have it any other way.

i dont know if you've done this before, but each member of the gang being good at a specific type of dancing, like one is good at shuffle while another is good at tap, etc. i think you get my point, im just curious for your opinion on this

darry - waltz/ballroom

darry definitely has a bit of experience with dance. mrs. curtis taught him a few things while he was young, and he fell in love with it! since he's one of the more romantic and stable members of the gang, he'd probably take his s/o on a few ballroom dancing dates :')

two bit - irish dancing (jigs, etc.)

two probably started learning how to jig as a joke, and started doing it a lot because everyone would laugh watching him dance. however, he eventually got quite good at it.

sodapop - ballet

soda has grace, man! he'd make an excellent ballet dancer and would find a way to express a bunch of emotion through his dancing. he even uses it as a method to calm down sometimes.

dallas - none

yes this man is hot, no he can't dance. tried once and tripped and fell and now insists that "dancin' is for fuckin' pussies, man".

steve - tap

steve climbs up top of cars quite often for work. once while he was up there, he kicked the top by accident, and found the sound quite fascinating. he later tried out a couple's dancing class (dally wouldn't stop bullying him) with evie and found a love for tap.

ponyboy - none :(

as much as ponyboy is artsy, the only 'art' he'll stick to are the ones that involve pens and paper. he isn't the most agile one, and finds dance a bit too exhausting.

johnny - jazz

johnny loves himself a good louis armstrong song that'll get him grooving. eventually, he enrolled himself into jazz classes to complete his jazz passion, and it's now one of his favorite pastimes.
