Hello. Here’s some photos from Dungeness last weekend. It was, as it always is - peaceful, good for the soul and full of fresh fish.

Portraits Summer 2018
Forgive me Tumblr, for I have sinned (again). I am truly terrible at updating my blog. It’s been a busy year on and off the pitch, and updating here is one of the first things to fall off my to-do list.
This year I have been lucky enough to meet and photograph some really interesting people, and shoot for some great new clients. From people who actually sailed over from the Caribbean to London on the Windrush in 1948, to Premier League Footballers - the spectrum has been wide and wonderful. And I’ve been shooting in a much more relaxed way, using mainly natural light.
Here’s a small selection.
See you in another 8 months (hopefully sooner ; )

Alford Gardner, Windrush passenger in 1948

Peter Dielhenn, Baker on the Windrush, 1948

Catch Communications

Lindsey Campbell, Actor

Bernardo Silva, Man City & Portugal. For The Players Tribune

Skepta Air Max
Not content with winning the Mercury Music Prize, taking over the massive o2 Millennium Dome with BBK and a huge US tour this year, Skepta has also designed his own Nike Air Max shoe. No big deal.
A week before the Sk : Air Max ‘97 dropped, I joined him for the day while he drove around town delivering pairs to his nearest and dearest- starting with the Meridian Crew.
It was a pleasure to witness a series of very special moments. Pride and joy in abundance. #Greatness indeed.

Jonny Phillips
Jonny is a lovely fella and a good mate of mine. He’s also an amazing actor and is helping me out with a project I’m working on (see previous post). I helped him out with some headshots. Here’s one of my favourites.

I need you...
...or more specifically your front room! It’s just for a couple of hours for a personal photo project I’m working on.
I’m shooting a series of photographs depicting moments glanced through a window that if you were walking down the street you’d stop - take a few steps back and look again.
The view will show a character in a pose that seems innocuous but on second look it will be clear something else is going on - that this is a step in a bigger story.
I would need the room for anywhere between 1-3 hours and there may be opportunity for you to participate in the project too. At the very least I’ll take a photograph of you in your home (if you’d like) and I’ll happily make you a museum quality print of the final photograph to keep - it will make a great framer for the wall!
I’m looking for ground floor properties that have a good outlook (ie. easy to photograph from the outside. Unobstructed would be great but I don’t mind a bit of tree or hedge!) and I would LOVE a first floor property or two but would probably need to have access to the facing property too so this might be too tricky, unless you know your opposite neighbours.
I need 10 properties (or windows) in total. I’m writing this post for my friends on the Warner Estate but anyone who has a property in London that you think would be suitable, I’d love to hear from you.
I understand that this seems a bit odd and you’re most likely to think “why would I let this stranger into my home?!” but I promise you it will be a fun process, I’ll be very sensitive to you and your home and the photograph will be amazing and look great on your wall!
Please get in touch on e-mail ([email protected]) or telephone (07967 124 966).
Thanks,
Steve

Spatial

Holy crap I’m rubbish at blogging. On Saturday I went to the amazing Alexandra Estate in North London to shoot some portraits for Matt Spendlove aka. SPATIAL who is bringing out a pretty extraordinary album soon (A Music of Sound Systems). I’ve got no idea how to categorise it other than to say it’s minimalist, very deep, technical music.
I will get better at blogging. Maybe.

Last night's performance by Loyle Carner is still with me. Such a slick flow - reminds me of hip hop of old. Lyrics from the heart. Realness. #RBMAUKTour \/ \/ The EP 'A Little Late' is amazing and is a free download on LoyleCarner.com - geddit (at 24 Kitchen Street)

A day with Julio Bashmore

I spent the day with Julio Bashmore leading up to the launch of his debut album Knockin’ Boots (it’s brilliant) that he recorded at Red Bull Studios in London. We hung out, drank tea from chicken drumstick mugs and took a walk up Telegraph Hill. And talked about music and what we feed our dogs.

Marjan on the crossing

It’s been a while since I posted a photo of the amazing Marjan, so here’s one from Sunday. I’m entering this into the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize this year. It’s a striking looking lady with some cute animals. I think I’ve got a chance.

Skepta decided to have a few people over last night to celebrate his new single. The police dropped in too, which was nice.

A$AP Rocky

Last night a few lucky folks were treated by Red Bull Music Academy to an audience with A$AP Rocky at the Renaissance Hotel in St Pancras. Afterwards we went upstairs to to the Royal Suite which was the biggest hotel room I’ve seen, and am ever likely to see. And we took this photo.
I was hustling for time with two TV crews and the A$AP management - who clearly had other things they’d rather be doing. Mos Def was watching it all go on from a ridiculously plush sofa. Bizarre.
Thankfully, one of the TV crews - the lovely folks at Lemonade Money - lent me their lights so I positioned them as quickly and carefully as I could while trying to appease about 4 different sets of people, conscious that I was the only thing between one America’s biggest artists and his dinner.

Deck the halls!

I was packing up to head off to the family homestead for Christmas the other day and I saw Marjan looking particularly festive in her Sunday finest. It's been ages since I posted any photos of my well dressed neighbour, so here's one for the holidays!

Keeling House, 2012

It's shocking how long it's been since my last update! Apologies.
I'm currently going though the archives to pick out photos for my new website which will be online in the new year. I find this process really difficult, but now looking through my personal work I have become much more decisive and happy about the work I'm selecting. Especially when they're of Keeling House!

SONAR 2014
While all the party people are at Glastonbury, I've been in the studio tapping my fingers and listening to sets from Sonar 2014.
Here are a few portraits I shot the other weekend with some excellent listening links.
