I hope you believe that you can still make a beautiful life for yourself even if you lost many years of it to grief, or darkness, depression, or a wound that wouldn't close.

thinking about ‘clawing your way up through the tightly packed dirt’ as a metaphor for transitioning and choosing to struggle with your identity rather than pretend it’s not there.. not knowing which way is up or how far the surface is but digging anyway… the exhaustion and the knowing you can never go back.. and outside of the burial the movie is a powerful message to trans people since it instills so much fear of not living authentically.. “there is still time” until the ending scene where you think owen might die without ever going with maddy and transitioning because she was right all along…

Ebra and Carmen
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Am I the only one to have noticed that EBRA and CARMEN were both afraid of CHANGE this season unlike their partner, TINA and SYDNEY ?
Both of them preferred to stay on familiar ground : Skipping school to stay alone/skipping school to hang out with a childhood friend.
But the only one who really became aware of it and correctly verbalized it, despite not being bilingual in English, was EBRA ?
And I would even add that at the end Tina and Ebra, whose native language is not English, managed to communicate more directly and sincerely than Sydney and Carmen, who hid behind the ASL sign for sorry?
We know that food is a love language for Sydney and Carmen. So it's certain that if Carmen hang out with Sydney that afternoon instead of ditching the palate cleanser, he would have realized that he was in love with her.
Ebra and Carmen both kept traumas because of traumatic experiences. But the difference is that one is afraid of war and the other is afraid of happiness.

i know it's been said many times before but i will never get over how jacob anderson, a british man with a british accent, not only nailed a louisiana creole accent but also developed a studiously (almost eerily) generic accent that louis uses in the present AND showed the first accent bleeding into the second accent at key moments as a way of aurally externalizing his character's inner journey. what did god put in this man when she created him.

It feels like something, that the movies that seem to resonate with me the most and quickly rise to be my new favorites are about finding the beauty in simply existing. The joy in living. Feeling the heaviness of aging and changing, and accepting it as beautiful.
