the front bottoms' album the front bottoms has so many song that'd fit Family Guy

"brian can't sing but he still sounds good somehow" it's voice acting babey! pull out a tuner while listening and you'll see that his pitch and tone is very solid

but go listen to Refugee by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and then come back to TFB. both boys can sing, but not every song is meant to have sweet and smooth vocals

also because that one live stage of Peace Sign where he very much sings like a traditional vocalist

but every time i learn something new about song composition, production, mixing, and voice performance, i get slapped in the face with "oh okay yeah like tfb does"

historic cemetery, joanie, plastic flowers, and ocean are brilliant pieces of music, but they also give a good depiction of the extremes of his voice. Apathetic and distraught, then aggressive and enthusiastic, conversational leading into choir inspiration, and a storytellers prose intermixed with pop vocals in the chorus. If they had all these resources and people back during I Hate my Friends n Talon that they have now, those albums probably would have way more polish and production going on

have tfb changed their sound? or have they really just gone "yes, and" with every comeback? don't worry, they don't gotta stay the same
