I dont like being negative but i want to rant about this a little more. I’m realising that capitalism really does kill art and i dont know what to do with that

the hustle culture moms and bros have discovered etsy and they basically just buy stuff from aliexpress and resell them on etsy, a website meant for mainly handmade or homemade products. On top of that, they just sell ai art like its theirs. Actual artists are not able to keep up with the hustle culture goons because these guys do it way cheaper and faster, and etsy takes a big cut from the selling price, which forces sellers to up their prices. And hustle culture ppl have the audacity to call themselves a ‘small business’

and turns out its not just an issue on etsy?? When i go to actual, physical markets they are filled with dropshippers too?? People who can clearly afford hiring a stand because the things that theyre selling costs practically nothing.

like what am i supposed to do?? Where do i find artists? How do i support them???

where do people find cute handmade stuff anymore? Etsy is completely flooded with ai generated bullshit and dropshippers. What happened to this website? Etsy used to be so fun

Changes we need to bring to 2024 Eurovision:

– Reduce jury votes: I get that eliminating them completely is not a possibility. The EBU wouldn't agree to that. However, maybe their importance should be lower. Make the vote 70% Public + 30% jury. In the end, people should be the ones selecting the winner, not a 5 person jury often selected in a non-transparent manner.

– Winners shouldn't be allowed to come back. And not only past winners, but also consolidated artists. Harry Styles shouldn't represent the UK nor Rosalía with Spain. They already have the spotlight. Past winners also had their moment and enjoyed the momentum. The opportunity should be offered to those who haven't tasted it yet.

– Israel shouldn't participate. This one is self-explanatory. It's hypocritical for the EBU to ban Russia from competing and not Israel. They should do better.

ive been unfollowing a lot of blogs on here because of this, and decided recently to stop engaging with that kind of content, because i didnt feel like i was actually helping anyone. Not that i dont like people who share bad news (by all means, keep doing it if it means that much to you) but because i come to tumblr to relax, and nowadays tumblr just makes me depressed. People forget that there are other ways to help.

i do think there is a degree to which certain kinds of Instagram activists have convinced themselves that traumatising themselves in solidarity is a useful form of activism. "I'm having nightmares and crying so much I want to be sick because of all these videos of dying children but I can't look away while people are getting hurt" I mean don't you think you'd be able to help more if you weren't having nightmares and crying all the time?? don't you think this is a one-way trip to burnout? don't you think maybe increasing the amount of trauma going around is counterproductive? I dunno bro there's something to be said for bearing witness but there comes a point where you gotta look hard at yourself and go "am I helping, or am I just making myself suffer so I don't feel guilty for not suffering while somebody else is experiencing bad shit"

Hey, y'all. Considering this is going into all the tags, some of you may have interacted with me on here, some of you may not, but regardless, I would appreciate your help.

I am in the process of writing my master's thesis, and I am doing a research on the topic. The topic being "The perception of Eurovision among young people-the music event in the context of entertainment and politics". Now, I very much know this is a very touchy topic right now. I also know many of you will be boycotting ESC this year, and this questionnaire is absolutely not here to discourage that. In fact, I am outright asking if you are boycotting ESC this year, because I think that's important for the research I'm doing.

Also, regarding the age, due to the ethical aspect, unfortunately only people who are 18+ can participate, as per my mentor's advice. Also please don't let "young people" discourage you from filling out the questionnaire, it was another recommendation I got due to the fact this website is primarily used by people 18-35, but if you are older, I'd still absolutely appreciate your input.

I don't usually asks for reblogs, but I'd appreciate it a lot if you could also reblog this because the bigger the sample, the better it's considered.
