During the first years when the suitors started to gather and became more annoying, Ctimene would deal with individual suitors accordingly. Penelope and Telemachus couldn't do much as they were obligated to treat their guests hospitably, though Ctimene uses the loophole that she is married to Eury in Same and thus the rule no longer affects her. Until the suitors ban her from the palace.
