I was walking through the toy aisle at Target when I found this thing and had a VIOLENT AND IMMEDIATE FLASHBACK to when JP first came out and they had a bunch of REALLY COOL T Rex toys that I would have sold one of my scrawny small-child limbs for but my mother wouldn’t get me one because they were “too violent and also ate people” :(

isn't it insane though how schizophrenic people are viewed as violent and dangerous by the majority of society when in reality schizophrenic people are nearly 14 times more likely to be on the receiving end of violence than to be the perpetrators...

man yall the interpersonal drama in ancient rome was something else like. there was a guy named crassus who had a pet eel and was so sad when it died that he gave it a funeral, and when another dude named domitius ahenobarbus made fun of him for throwing an eel funeral, crassus was like "oh so this is coming from the guy who's buried three of his wives and not even shed a single tear about it." wish i could've been in the room for that one

Just realized both Jonathan Groff and Neil Patrick Harris are in the next Matrix movie. I now hold on to the belief that it's going to be a super secret musical, will only talk about this theory for the next 4 months and if it happens not to be in fact a musical, I will leave the movie theater throwing a raging fit about how this was queerbaiting all along.

wait guys i just had a,,,, Revelation. a Vision. the Truth was Revealed to me. the doctor is zagreus. 13 is zagreus. wait im gonna articulate
Zagreus sits inside your head, Zagreus lives among the dead, Zagreus sees you in your bed, And eats you when you’re sleeping.
Zagreus at the end of days, Zagreus lies all other ways, Zagreus comes when time’s a maze, And all of history is weeping.
Zagreus taking time apart, Zagreus fears the hero heart, Zagreus seeks the final part, The reward that he is reaping.
Zagreus sings when all is lost, Zagreus takes all those he’s crossed, Zagreus wins and all it cost, The hero’s hearts he’s keeping.
Zagreus seeks the hero’s ship, Zagreus needs the web to rip, Zagreus sucks time at a drip, And life aside, he’s sweeping.
Zagreus waits at the end of the world, For Zagreus is the end of the world. His time is the end of time, And his moment time’s undoing.
it occurs to me now this is such a… like.. handout of a theory idea it has probaby been said 100 times before. whatever. im gonna do it too
like most of these lines could be about the doctor right? they probably wrote it that way? im expecting. also because the doctor becomes zagreus and stuff. it’s a classic, every bad guy is also the doctor. and also just because at some point most things that can be thought of you have done, if you live a life like the doctor’s.
“zagreus sits inside your head” - last of the timelords everyone thinking the doctor’s name, and amy bringing the doctor back from oblivion by remembering him. also the doctor’s status as a story, in and out of universe. “The legend of Zagreus. What a fabulous invention, a marvellous conceit, whispered in the ears of the gullible on a hundred worlds, in a thousand different eras.” you can just replace ‘zagreus’ with ‘the doctor’ there.
“zagreus lives among the dead” - battlefield yada yada, “just this once everybody lives!”, “im so tired of losing”
“zagreus at the end of days” - the doctor’s been at the end of time more than once but im also inclined to interpret end of days as end of gallifrey’s days and the doctor has been the cause of that too. basically, zagreus at the end of days: time war, end of time, hell bent, timeless children
“zagreus lies all other ways” - not sure if that means lying like not telling the truth but if it is then thats an obvious one. also in the context of this verse. this lying could be about the hybrid
“and all of history is weeping” - seems applicable to the time war, end of time, hell bent, and the timeless children again
“Zagreus taking time apart, Zagreus fears the hero heart, Zagreus seeks the final part, The reward that he is reaping.” - wait actually this verse sounds more like the master i might have to change my mind. it also sound like timelord victorious 10 though.
“Zagreus sings when all is lost, Zagreus takes all those he’s crossed, Zagreus wins and all it cost, The hero’s hearts he’s keeping.” - i have no specific examples for this verse it’s just doctor vibes. and the last two lines feel like every companion theyve lost you know?
“Zagreus seeks the hero’s ship, Zagreus needs the web to rip, Zagreus sucks time at a drip, And life aside, he’s sweeping.” - 13 vibes in general
zagreus waits at the end of the world - master waiting on gallifrey for the doctor vibes
for zagreus is the end of the world - bait and switch it’s not him hes handing her the bomb. but like. really anything either one of them is the other is too right? theyre too much two sides of the same coin. incredible arguments im making for my case here, phenomenal persuasive writing skills
his time is the end of time - and the beginning. “you were the start of all this now end it”
and his moment time’s undoing - in interpreting ‘time’ here as, like, gallifreys time because timelords are self-centred like that and also because the web of time they made is like, all of time. ‘time’ in general for the universe means their time, timelords time, it’s all in their hands. so time’s undoing is gallifreys undoing, unravelling the web of time - which we’ve heard so often (well maybe not often but at least sometimes right?) in the show as this like BIg Threat. unravel the web of time and everyone and everything goes Big Wrong. and to that i want to say:
“We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.”
we’ve been fighting capitalists these seasons right? the hotel guy, the orphan 55 queen, edison. timelords dont have capitalism but in its place they have this grasp of everyone’s time that theyve so much managed to naturalise that like all of time now is in the structure theyve created for their benefit.
and we’ve been on the side of resistance fighters and people making the Biggest changes in the world and not getting credit for it. now what 13 says about tesla almost makes sense to me? it didnt before, but:
DOCTOR: No. Nothing’s changed. A few years from now, Wardenclyffe is torn down. Tesla keeps on inventing, but no money, no fame, he dies penniless. History leaves him behind. But his vision of wireless energy, that does happen, a connected world, and that idea starts here, with him.
her seeming admiration for him dying without money or fame now feels like it makes more sense to me. it feels almost a bit like being like ‘you didnt sell out!’ to an artist? which is?? a weird and wrong idea to have about, like capitalism and how to exist in it but i KINDA get the possible thematic resonance here now i think?? i might be wrong
i dont remember how 13 approaches mary shelley about this. i think shes more focused on the “nothing’s changed” part in that episode:
DOCTOR: Excuse me, Yaz. I was very clear about the rules. RYAN: Nobody mention Frankenstein, and don’t interfere.
DOCTOR: All of you, find somewhere to hide. MARY: But I must… DOCTOR: Do you want to listen, or do you want to end up like them? None of this is supposed to happen. They weren’t supposed to die. Neither are you, so please, let’s not unravel anything else. Hide, and stay there. History is vulnerable tonight. I mean it. Now go on.
no, let’s! let’s unravel everything
anyway. i said i was gonna articulate my thoughts and i think i did anything but. i just elaborated equally as vaguely as my opening claim was. so thats great.
it all just comes back to that i think 13 should break everything. everything timelord, everything shes taken for granted. shes repeatedly been shown as a builder and creator and inventor. and shes also repeatedly been shown to like to blow stuff up. the master does destructive creation a lot. and the doctor has historically been more like a preservationist, they:
DOCTOR: Call me old fashioned, but I like things as they are.
and i guess the fact that she didnt destroy gallifrey does not bode well thematically, even though there are also other factors in play there, such as ‘wanting to live’ and ‘become me’, but at least she doesnt like things as they are anymore! right? she probably doesnt right? i rambled in the tags of another post about ‘no interfering’ and the ‘why would the lie’ thing:
#‘why would they lie’ #why is this reality i help to maintain false. why is it corrupted. why is it not REAL. and TRUE. and good to upkeep because of all that #why is it QUESTIONABLE. why must i now QUESTION whether this is the right course of history. i never thought to question this. #it’s the Web Of Time! it’s inviolable
but like. shes not completely there yet. shes not yet at the point shes ready to burn it all down but shes closer, i think? last time we saw her she was like 1) i dont know who i am and im gonna find out, and 2) im angry about it
and im thinking about this post about becoming:
anyway it really is like. you just can’t be two things at once, so to become something new inherently involves a death of what you were.. but you don’t always know what you want to become, you just know you don’t want to be what you are; and so you’re trapped in the middle like the two-headed calf who got stuck on its way to becoming two separate animals and got born anyway.. and it doesn’t have enough hearts to be two calves but it has too many eyes to be just one, and how if transformation is death, to be stuck mid-transformation is to be half-dead, to always be approaching but never arriving at that cathartic rebirth that will finally allow for the transformation into something new and the death of the thing that is trapping you.. and some deaths are rebirths but some deaths are just deaths.. the longest-living two-headed calf lived a total of one hundred and eight days; to be two-headed is to be so busy always becoming two calves that you never remember to become a cow.
13 feels like a two-headed calf. shes not exactly the doctor the doctor has been for 12 lives, because she let go of that with the last, but shes not exactly what she will be yet either because everything is still new and unfamiliar. she doesnt know who she is yet.
so i think for that cathartic rebirth for her to happen, that would be 13 becoming 14, she first needs to, like, burn down everything thats still tying her to what she was, a timelord.
and then i kinda want to see 14 become an anarchist like i think thats just logically where we’resupposed to be going empires are bad timelords are bad capitalism is bad the doctor has realised this their eyes have been opened and now it’s time for anarchy

A scorpion, not knowing how to swim, asked a frog to carry it across the river. “Do I look like a fool?” said the frog. “You’d sting me if I let you on my back!”
“Be logical,” said the scorpion. “If I stung you I’d certainly drown myself.”
“That’s true,” the frog acknowledged. “Climb aboard, then!” But no sooner than they were halfway across the river, the scorpion stung the frog, and they both began to thrash and drown. “Why on earth did you do that?” the frog said morosely. “Now we’re both going to die.”
“I can’t help it,” said the scorpion. “It’s my nature.”
___
…But no sooner than they were halfway across the river, the frog felt a subtle motion on its back, and in a panic dived deep beneath the rushing waters, leaving the scorpion to drown.
“It was going to sting me anyway,” muttered the frog, emerging on the other side of the river. “It was inevitable. You all knew it. Everyone knows what those scorpions are like. It was self-defense.”
___
…But no sooner had they cast off from the bank, the frog felt the tip of a stinger pressed lightly against the back of its neck. “What do you think you’re doing?” said the frog.
“Just a precaution,” said the scorpion. “I cannot sting you without drowning. And now, you cannot drown me without being stung. Fair’s fair, isn’t it?”
They swam in silence to the other end of the river, where the scorpion climbed off, leaving the frog fuming.
“After the kindness I showed you!” said the frog. “And you threatened to kill me in return?”
“Kindness?” said the scorpion. “To only invite me on your back after you knew I was defenseless, unable to use my tail without killing myself? My dear frog, I only treated you as I was treated. Your kindness was as poisoned as a scorpion’s sting.”
___
…“Just a precaution,” said the scorpion. “I cannot sting you without drowning. And now, you cannot drown me without being stung. Fair’s fair, isn’t it?”
“You have a point,” the frog acknowledged. “But once we get to dry land, couldn’t you sting me then without repercussion?”
“All I want is to cross the river safely,” said the scorpion. “Once I’m on the other side I would gladly let you be.”
“But I would have to trust you on that,” said the frog. “While you’re pressing a stinger to my neck. By ferrying you to land I’d be be giving up the one deterrent I hold over you.”
“But by the same logic, I can’t possibly withdraw my stinger while we’re still over water,” the scorpion protested.
The frog paused in the middle of the river, treading water. “So, I suppose we’re at an impasse.”
The river rushed around them. The scorpion’s stinger twitched against the frog’s unbroken skin. “I suppose so,” the scorpion said.
___
A scorpion, not knowing how to swim, asked a frog to carry it across the river. “Absolutely not!” said the frog, and dived beneath the waters, and so none of them learned anything.
___
A scorpion, being unable to swim, asked a turtle (as in the original Persian version of the fable) to carry it across the river. The turtle readily agreed, and allowed the scorpion aboard its shell. Halfway across, the scorpion gave in to its nature and stung, but failed to penetrate the turtle’s thick shell. The turtle, swimming placidly, failed to notice.
They reached the other side of the river, and parted ways as friends.
___
…Halfway across, the scorpion gave in to its nature and stung, but failed to penetrate the turtle’s thick shell.
The turtle, hearing the tap of the scorpion’s sting, was offended at the scorpion’s ungratefulness. Thankfully, having been granted the powers to both defend itself and to punish evil, the turtle sank beneath the waters and drowned the scorpion out of principle.
___
A scorpion, not knowing how to swim, asked a frog to carry it across the river. “Do I look like a fool?” sneered the frog. “You’d sting me if I let you on my back.”
The scorpion pleaded earnestly. “Do you think so little of me? Please, I must cross the river. What would I gain from stinging you? I would only end up drowning myself!”
“That’s true,” the frog acknowledged. “Even a scorpion knows to look out for its own skin. Climb aboard, then!”
But as they forged through the rushing waters, the scorpion grew worried. This frog thinks me a ruthless killer, it thought. Would it not be justified in throwing me off now and ridding the world of me? Why else would it agree to this? Every jostle made the scorpion more and more anxious, until the frog surged forward with a particularly large splash, and in panic the scorpion lashed out with its stinger.
“I knew it,” snarled the frog, as they both thrashed and drowned. “A scorpion cannot change its nature.”
___
A scorpion, not knowing how to swim, asked a frog to carry it across the river. The frog agreed, but no sooner than they were halfway across the scorpion stung the frog, and they both began to thrash and drown.
“I’ve only myself to blame,” sighed the frog, as they both sank beneath the waters. “You, you’re a scorpion, I couldn’t have expected anything better. But I knew better, and yet I went against my judgement! And now I’ve doomed us both!”
“You couldn’t help it,” said the scorpion mildly. “It’s your nature.”
___
…“Why on earth did you do that?” the frog said morosely. “Now we’re both going to die.”
“Alas, I was of two natures,” said the scorpion. “One said to gratefully ride your back across the river, and the other said to sting you where you stood. And so both fought, and neither won.” It smiled wistfully. “Ah, it would be nice to be just one thing, wouldn’t it? Unadulterated in nature. Without the capacity for conflict or regret.”
___
“By the way,” said the frog, as they swam, “I’ve been meaning to ask: What’s on the other side of the river?”
“It’s the journey,” said the scorpion. “Not the destination.”
___
…“What’s on the other side of anything?” said the scorpion. “A new beginning.”
___
…”Another scorpion to mate with,” said the scorpion. “And more prey to kill, and more living bodies to poison, and a forthcoming lineage of cruelties that you will be culpable in.”
___
…”Nothing we will live to see, I fear,” said the scorpion. “Already the currents are growing stronger, and the river seems like it shall swallow us both. We surge forward, and the shoreline recedes. But does that mean our striving was in vain?”
___
“I love you,” said the scorpion.
The frog glanced upward. “Do you?”
“Absolutely. Can you imagine the fear of drowning? Of course not. You’re a frog. Might as well be scared of breathing air. And yet here I am, clinging to your back, as the waters rage around us. Isn’t that love? Isn’t that trust? Isn’t that necessity? I could not kill you without killing myself. Are we not inseparable in this?”
The frog swam on, the both of them silent.
___
“I’m so tired,” murmured the frog eventually. “How much further to the other side? I don’t know how long we’ve been swimming. I’ve been treading water. And it’s getting so very dark.”
“Shh,” the scorpion said. “Don’t be afraid.”
The frog’s legs kicked out weakly. “How long has it been? We’re lost. We’re lost! We’re doomed to be cast about the waters forever. There is no land. There’s nothing on the other side, don’t you see!”
“Shh, shh,” said the scorpion. “My venom is a hallucinogenic. Beneath its surface, the river is endlessly deep, its currents carrying many things.”
“You - You’ve killed us both,” said the frog, and began to laugh deliriously. “Is this - is this what it’s like to drown?”
“We’ve killed each other,” said the scorpion soothingly. “My venom in my glands now pulsing through your veins, the waters of your birthing pool suffusing my lungs. We are engulfing each other now, drowning in each other. I am breathless. Do you feel it? Do you feel my sting pierced through your heart?”
“What a foolish thing to do,” murmured the frog. “No logic. No logic to it at all.”
“We couldn’t help it,” whispered the scorpion. “It’s our natures. Why else does anything in the world happen? Because we were made for this from birth, darling, every moment inexplicable and inevitable. What a crazy thing it is to fall in love, and yet - It’s all our fault! We are both blameless. We’re together now, darling. It couldn’t have happened any other way.”
___
“It’s funny,” said the frog. “I can’t say that I trust you, really. Or that I even think very much of you and that nasty little stinger of yours to begin with. But I’m doing this for you regardless. It’s strange, isn’t it? It’s strange. Why would I do this? I want to help you, want to go out of my way to help you. I let you climb right onto my back! Now, whyever would I go and do a foolish thing like that?”
___
A scorpion, not knowing how to swim, asked a frog to carry it across the river. “Do I look like a fool?” said the frog. “You’d sting me if I let you on my back!”
“Be logical,” said the scorpion. “If I stung you I’d certainly drown myself.”
“That’s true,” the frog acknowledged. “Come aboard, then!” But no sooner had the scorpion mounted the frog’s back than it began to sting, repeatedly, while still safely on the river’s bank.
The frog groaned, thrashing weakly as the venom coursed through its veins, beginning to liquefy its flesh. “Ah,” it muttered. “For some reason I never considered this possibility.”
“Because you were never scared of me,” the scorpion whispered in its ear. “You were never scared of dying. In a past life you wore a shell and sat in judgement. And then you were reborn: soft-skinned, swift, unburdened, as new and vulnerable as a child, moving anew through a world of children. How could anyone ever be cruel, you thought, seeing the precariousness of it all?” The scorpion bowed its head and drank. “How could anyone kill you without killing themselves?”

I think we should just stop asking ourselves "does good omens queerbait or not?" because it's the wrong question and all it leads to is chaos, vile attacks between various queer people, and disappointment. instead, the question we should maybe ask ourselves is "what do I personally want from this show? what kind of representation am I looking for?"
because that way, both "they should've kissed" AND "i love this nuanced portrayal of a non-sexual relationship" can be true at the same time. both "this show has canon queer and nonbinary characters" and "straight people will be able to deny that crowley and aziraphale are in love and that sucks" can be true. both "i personally wanted more physical intimacy or verbal affirmations of their love" and "i personally loved the ambiguity of their relationship" CAN BE TRUE.
good omens is good representation for some and not for others. it's unsatisfying for some and fulfilling for others. we don't need to shit on each other (or anyone involved in the project, like neil gaiman) to acknowledge that. if good omens doesn't make you happy, if it doesn't give you the representation you want, you can just step away and leave people alone who enjoy it. it's really that simple.
hope this helps

Police officers have arrested a man for filming an arrest even though they acknowledged it was legal for him to do so– and he’s a State Congressman
The police officers seemed more concerned with calling Rep. John Walker a “race baiter” for doing something completely legal than they were in upholding the law. But the kicker is that Rep. Walker had already been arrested for the same thing years ago, which is why he fought for the law (and won) in the first place.
