Varaad – i can see him with an evee that eventually evolves into sylveon. heracross as well. he just. he’s the type that gets as many pokemon as possible early on bc he can’t say no, so he ends up with all the typical beginning pokemon too like caterpie and zigzagoon and pidgey and rattata. and you can bet they’ve all won many dress up contests. if i could remember more of the last gen of pokemon he’d probably have a shit ton of fairy pokemon bc he just strikes me as a normal & fairy user.
i feel like the merc group he grew up in would’ve given him the heracross when he was around 10. they were often camped outside of towns and in forests and such and bug pokemon were the one constant, so it was pretty likely that was what his first pokemon always was going to be. the company had a lot of fighting type pokemon like manky and machoke, but he got his little fighting bug. who loved playing jokes on varaad, but he didn’t mind much.
i feel like evee (and later sylveon) is the closest to his heart. the first one he’d actually gotten himself and evee was cuddly in all the ways heracross wasn’t (tho he occasionally tried, but once varaad’s horns finished growing in it was a little difficult).

Ju'n Trevelyan likes to meditate in smoldering ruins with a crown of thorns atop his long white hair. Bull swears he'll never make his lover angry, because surrounded by smoke and fire, Ju'n looks like the most gorgeous and deadly being in existence.
aaaaahhhhhh i’m sorry this has been sitting in my inbox since thanksgiving. i have failed you oTL
but dang, that’s a lovely image.
i’ll go with my bullmancer as well – Edric doesn’t meditate or hang out in ruins, but he does like sitting in Dwarven thaigs surrounded by loot, and well, listening to Bull excitedly talk about dwarven ruins in seheron is pretty enjoyable too.

4, 6, 13, 24, 36? (That might be too many ._.)
noooo, it’s never too many :DD
Since I’ve done some for Adaashi and Edric, I’m gonna do these for the other half of my main four: Varaad and Malia.
4. how did they feel about being called “the herald of andraste”?
Varaad – he’s flattered mostly. He doesn’t believe in andraste, nor plans to, but he likes the idea of being a part of something, and being considered important enough to be a servant of the human’s religious figure? it feels good. it makes him feel like he can really do good as well, and it’s probably the closest to royalty he’ll ever get.
Malia – it makes her feel like she’s found her reason for living so long. it lets her make sense of the world, and her place in it, and she so badly needs for it to be true. if andraste sees something good in her, then she feels like there must be something of worth in there, and something that can change for the better.
6. what is their opinion on the mage/templar war?
Varaad – he doesn’t have many opinions on it. It’s supported him and the valo-kas a lot since they’re mercenaries, but the mindless killing on both sides scares him. With the qunari north of him and the humans south, he doesn’t feel like he has much of a place. Since falling in love with Dorian he’s looked at it a lot more carefully, but Dorian grew up in a much luckier place for mages in the circle. Cassandra is also one of his good friends, and vivienne’s ideals make a lot of sense to him, so he’s not really sure where he should stand on the issue at all.
Malia – it’s a great way to make a killing in the carta, haha. both figuratively and literally. she thinks it’s a bit funny honestly – the humans killing themselves and wreaking havoc over something so silly to her, but she’s a dwarf who only really concerned herself with life’s simple pleasures before andraste made her her servant.
13. how do they feel about the chantry?
Varaad – oh I answered this earlier haha. He doesn’t believe and probably won’t ever, but he likes the idea of it, and he loves being a part of something so big like joined spirituality.
Malia – it’s important to her. she’s a surface dwarf who never felt like anything of her was of import and outlived everyone she knew, but something drew her to the chantry. and she believed.
24. what is their opinion on blood magic? would they ever use it, if given the chance?
Varaad – no chance in hell. he’s pretty reasonably afraid of magic, though dorian’s eased some of his fears, but he’s heard the rumors and he knows how dorian feels about blood magic. blood magic is for mages who have lost themselves and given themselves over to demons, either their own or the ones in the fade. he’s an archer with no magic ability to speak of except for what the rift give him, but he’d still probably never use blood magic.
Malia – she knows how easily blood mages fall to demons, but she also knows how desperate blood mages tend to be, and the carta can capitalize on desperation. she doesn’t fear them, but she and the legion never really feared much. dwarves and magic don’t go together as far as she’s concerned, so she’d never consider using it. if she falls she falls, but she dies as a dwarf.
36. are they especially protective of certain inquisition members, even those capable of defending themselves?
Varaad – Cole for sure. Varaad sees parts of himself in Cole, and he wants to be around that quiet acceptance and incredible compassion for as long as possible. People fear Cole and that definitely doesn’t help Varaad’s want to protect.
Malia – she’s nearing 40 so she feels quite a bit older than everyone. she’s never been particularly maternal, but still she feels a bit for the young kids like Sera and Cole and Josephine. Especially Sera since Blackwall is so close to her.

For Adaashi: 13, 14, 24 and 30! For Edric 4, 17, 26 annnd 34? :D
Thank you!
For Adaashi:
13. How do they feel about the chantry?
She doesn’t care one way or another about it. She doesn’t value it highly – it’s a thing she considers weak humans to believe in when they aren’t strong, always waiting for some woman with flaming underwear to save the day instead of taking things into their own hands. She doesn’t feel it’s worth her time to destroy either, though.
14. Which demon is most frightening to them?
Outside of the rift? None. She will beat them, and doesn’t accept any other possibility, even if she’s just deluding herself. But inside the fade? She’s a mage and has visited the fade since her magic became known, and has ignored their presence for as long. She’s terrified of being forced to compromise her rules, and being exposed to them in their full glory. She’s most likely to be taken in by a pride demon.
24. What is their opinion on blood magic? would they ever use it, if given the chance?
She mostly considers it for the weak – for the mages who can’t stand on their own and face their enemies with pride. Adaashi’s confident in her magic and very prideful about her abilities, but if she was desperate she would absolutely use blood magic. Adaashi and desperate don’t go hand in hand together, but at that point she’d do anything because she doesn’t feel like herself when she’s desperate. And well, once it’s all done she’ll shake the tension out of her shoulders and move any hairs that had fallen out of her braid back into place, and then justify it by saying that she wasn’t weak willed enough to fall into a demon’s trap. I think she shares the same fear vivienne does – scared of herself if she ever did lose and get lost behind the rules she’s set for herself.
30. are they an optimist, a pessimist, or neutral?
She’d call herself a realist for sure, but she operates on a set of rules that only she seems to understand. Things are attainable, or they are not, and she has no problems telling people their goals aren’t realistic which can make her seem very aloof and a bit of a debbie downer. Her goals, of course, are always attainable on the other hand, haha.
———————————
And now Edric!
4. how did they feel about being called “the herald of andraste”?
He doesn’t really care about being some religious symbol for the humans, but he loves the praise and glory he gets from it. All sorts of recognition with hardly any work. At least until he’s forced into action and has to face the actual consequences and reasons for being it.
17. how do they feel about the mark/the anchor?
It absolutely terrified him. It was painful, got there under circumstances he couldn’t remember, and seemed to have to do with magic. Dwarves didn’t do magic, it was one of the fundamental rules he’d come to accept of the universe. It gave him more responsibility than he was ready to have – he joked around and drank with his friends after fooling around with a lyrium shipment, he didn’t lead armies and fight evil that threatened all of thedas.
26. did they feel suspicious of dorian upon first meeting him, because of his tevinter heritage?
Mostly he thought the guy was kind of poncy. The tevinter stuff just told him Dorian would probably be a nice target for moving some lyrium, but Edric had never had a good eye for that anyway. He liked him a lot more than the other mages though – vivienne scared him and solas seemed a bit off, and Edric had learned to trust his guts – and he liked the guy’s sense of humor. They both had similar tastes in men, anyway.
34. what was their reaction to the destruction of haven?
It really forced him into his role as the inquisitor. Before hand he’d thought it was all a laugh – the humans treating him as some religious figure and giving him loads of free stuff, but after? After he’d been so scared he’d felt numb, with no idea of where to go from there because this thing? corypheus and the shit he wanted? it was bigger than he expected, and people were depending on him. if he fucked it up then he and everyone he knew could die, would die. and still the inquisition expected him to lead.

OC ask meme: 8, 13 and 24 for Varaad and 5, 17 and 19 for Malia! :D
Thank you!!! I’m on mobile so this could come out very badly haha.
Varaad Adaar
8. What they like to eat
He’ll eat pretty much anything (though I can’t see him liking dairy much) though he definitely likes sweet things best. Fruits and sweet berries primarily, since he only really gets desserts when he’s in a town, which he avoids a bit. Sweet pastries with berries are his fav. He also likes food that’s shared with the community, like roasts or soups. He’s not super big on very spicy foods, though hell politely eat it if it’s offered to him.
13. Their embarrassing memory from years ago
Aw man I struggled with this one. Most of his embarrassing moments are in regards to romance because he crushes hard and often, and he might not be shy per se, but he definitely still blushes and acts nervous and doesn’t think real hard about what’s coming out of his mouth. He’s not clumsy and his horns are too close to his head to have many of the “whoops my horns caught and now the entire tent is on fire” moments that a lot of his adolescent peers had before they ‘grew into their horns.’
I’ll think more on this and do a specific moment later.
24. What motivates them
He’s a huge goody-goody so he mostly tries to help everyone. Being as merciful as he can along the way. He’s very protective of those he cares about, and he has a very big heart so there are a lot of people that fall under his protection. He’s got a bit of anxiety over making the step to actually do something though, so he’ll waver on that line of 'I want to help so bad but I can’t make myself’ forever if he’s not thrown head first into the responsibility.
aaaand Malia Cadash
5. Their shortcomings
Malia is ruled pretty heavily by her gut, which wouldn’t be nearly as big a problem if her gut feelings weren’t cultivated and grown in carta crime. She wants to be a person worthy of andraste’s blessing, but she really struggles with taking the time to stop and think and listen when her first instincts are to kill the problem or twist a situation in her favor/the good of the carta. She’s brash ad blunt (with humor) and doesn’t see the good in lying, so if it’s honesty you want from her, you’ll get it. as long as it’s not about herself of course, because she deflects personal questions with humor so others don’t grow close to her and she won’t miss them when they die (she’s starting to see that others outside her cartel unit don’t die nearly as much though).
17. Their ambitions
She’s never really had any. “Serve the carta, live, eat a good meal, live it up. Repeat” suited her fine and she grew complacent. When she kept living, she started to doubt things, and more than that, did faith in andraste. She found a purpose there too, especially once she got the blessing aka anchor. She decided to be someone worthy of the mark and andraste, and that was her aim. Once the anchor was gone and her purpose as inquisitor removed, he floundered a lot. For so long she’d fought and it was all she knew, and suddenly she knew it no more and wasn’t capable of it. So then she struggled with an addiction to dragons blood bc it made her feel powerful. Later in life she was still battling it, but her purpose was “have a good life with thom.”
19. Their reaction to betrayal
The carta punishes betrayers, and malia herself had punished many, but she’d never experienced it herself really. The cartel legion died too fast and cultivated strong bonds for them to betray each other (and the ones who’d think about it tended to die early since they weren’t full non their cause), and you didnt join the legion if you weren’t ready to die for the carta. So her experience was killing people she didn’t know. This was really tested in her romance with thom. She felt betrayed heavily, but she also loved him a lot and her fear that “oh no someone will have to take care of this betrayal” hit her hard even though it was her in charge of administering the punishment. She couldn’t do it of course, especially since thom’s betrayal had been a redemption in the inquisition–it hadn’t really been her who’d been betrayed, but his soldiers and Orlais and the noble family he’d had killed. Solas on the other hand…well they’d only sort of tolerated each other in the first place.

uughhghhgh a 30-something edric cadash (who finally just gives up on growing a beard and repeats varric’s reasons for not having a beard word for word when asked why so he doesn’t have to admit he just can’t grow one) gently teasing a 40-something chubby bull every time he bends over and something creaks about him being an old man now. and bull just pushes edric’s head down fondly bc edric’s still a cocky s.o.b. and says ‘you still can’t beat this old man in a fight.’
#there might be wrestling after. sometimes sex. but mostly it's just kisses and fond looks while they continue on with their day#edric x bull#edric cadash
