Target dog is actually a bully breed!
Tumblr media
In case anyone didnt know: the target mascot? Y'know the white dog with the target symbol around their eye? That dog is a bully breed. The dog is a Bull Terrier. The pitbulls originally came from the 19th century and was developed from breeding between the Old English Terrier and the Old English Bulldog. This breed was originally bred to hunt large animals and hold them. This was later outlawed and instead of hunting, they had thsir dogs fight against each other. But not just these dogs were used. There was also a time any breed of dog was used. More so the large dogs, but all else aside. Your family companion the golden retriever? Labrador? Great Dane? German Shepherd? And much more were used in dog fights. But those dogs aren't really looked at as "dangerous". Especially the Golden Retriever and the Labrador.
All else aside, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is the top dog known as the "nanny dog". Because of their loyal, kind, caring, and patient personality they have been great for kids and for families. Theyve been used a lot back then as a nanny dog.
Despite the fact many hate on the bully breeds, some things these people don't tend to look close at is how these dogs have saved young children and their owners from danger.
One pitbull named Hurley saved a little boy from a Copperhead Snake (credit to TruDog dot com)
In 2020 a pitbull named Buddy stayed with a 3 year old boy who wandered and got lost in the woods. Buddy stayed by his side. A neighbor called saying they found the boy but the dog wouldn't let anyone near the boy. Buddy later was leading the police to the boy when they arrived.
In 2019 a pitbull named Zeus, who was 9 months old saved 10 year old Oriley from a Coral Snake. He was taken to the veterinarian and was given anti-venom but died hours later from his injuries.
In 2018, an 8 month old pitbull named Sasha saved her family and their 7 month old baby girl. If it wasn't for Sasha, things would have been worse or fatal.
All these pitties have saved their family. There is definitely more stories like these that will pop up and some that probably hasn't even been told.

I was at PetSmart a couple days ago getting a few things for Bolt. I was at the name tag machine getting his tag made with him in his bed in the basket. This lady apparently decided to pet him and pick my baby up WITHOUT ASKING saying "aww he's a sweet boy and so cute". Keep in mind, he was sleeping peacefully while getting his tag made with my boyfriend helping me make sure the info was correct. I turn around from the machine seeing them hold him and pet him. They ask "what breed is he?". I said "the mother is a mix of a Maltese and Chihuahua and the father is most likely a pitbull". Their faces went from "sweet baby and so cute" to "ew why am I holding this disgusting creature" and out him down in his bed right away. Then literally the two women looked at each other awkwardly like "why did I touch him".
There's many issues wrong with this situation:
1. You NEVER asked to pet him OR pick him up. It's called respect AND doing this to any animal without knowing how they are to strangers can be dangerous and also freak them out.
2. You were just petting him and treating him like the sweetest little pup and the moment I said "pitbull" you out him down right away with extreme disgust on your face and stopped talking. As cringy as this sounds, they literally looked like two Karen's.
Did he bite you? Was he aggressive? You said he was cute and loved on him til I said "pit". I'm surprised you didn't even see it in his face or body. It's present in his face and body aside from his personality and attitude.
Afterwards I stopped telling people his exact breed because I didn't wanna get upset over it. But from here on out in gonna say the exact breed. Not only to call people out but to also mark these encounters down so I can help end the stigma.
Tell me: does this face look mean or violent to you? Does he give that "I'm a breed that kills"? I didn't think so.

Pride birds return tomorrow June 24 at NOON Eastern (UTC-4)!
I am giving folks a heads up because I only have about 40 birds total available and by past experience, some of these designs may not last the hour.
They will be available here in my Etsy store!
Like all other pride merch, they will be 15% off through the end of the month.
As usual, I will continue making them after June is over, but I never can keep up with demand for these things, so they tend to be out of stock a lot of the time.

Tips for respecting a trans/non-binary persons name and pronouns
I know it can be hard to start using new pronouns and a new name, my family still has a problem sometimes and I even misgender myself once in a while so here are some ways to help you get used to new names/pronouns as well as some things we all need to remember:
Never purposely use the wrong name/pronouns out of spite or anger or for any other reason: It is never okay to purposely misgender someone so just don鈥檛 do it. We understand if you make mistakes but if you do it on purpose then honestly you鈥檙e just being awful and are probably really hurting that person
Correct yourself when someone tells you that you聽used the wrong name/pronouns: It鈥檚 not hard to apologize and correct yourself, and I am sure that whoever corrected you greatly appreciates it if you do. Be humble and admit when you鈥檝e made a mistake, your pride means nothing beside someone鈥檚 emotional wellbeing聽
Whenever you think of that person repeat their name/pronouns in your head: This is a good habit that can help you get used to changing pronouns and/or names. If you think of that person, repeat the pronouns and/or name 3 or 4 times. Soon it will become second nature and you鈥檒l have to worry much less about messing them up
Use the correct name and pronouns even when speaking about that person in the past: Most people don鈥檛 like when you use their deadnames and old pronouns, no matter the situation. It reminds them of their transness (if they are trans) and that鈥檚 not always the best thing. Using their chosen name and pronouns is the better bet in that situation unless they say otherwise or give you explicit permission to use their deadname and previous pronouns. This also helps avoid any mix-ups or accidentally outing someone to others
Thanks for reading and have a good day everyone!

Daily Reminder #001
It鈥檚 okay to keep your birth name!
Is your birth name typically female but you enjoy it and believe it works for you no matter your gender identity? Then keep it!
Is your birth name typically masculine but you enjoy it and believe it works for you no matter your gender identity? Then keep it!
Is your birth name androgynous/unisex but you enjoy it and believe it works for you no matter your gender identity? Then keep it!
You are no more or less genderfluid for keeping your birth name!

And here it is. Finally. PART 2 OF MY PRIDE COLLECTION IS UP ON MY ETSY!!! Even more flags, for an even bigger Pride squad!!! If you want to skip the text and just shop, just follow the link here:聽https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/Simakaihoodies?ref=seller-platform-mcnav搂ion_id=23881519
So! I present three lesbian flags. They were kindly presented to me as options that are 1. doable from a technical point of view - I can procure these colors without too much problem, unlike the Lipstick flag, and 2. are actually used by lesbians and have positive and inclusive symbolism. I chose not to choose between them: I am pansexual, not a lesbian, so I don鈥檛 think I have the right to. Customers will decide the one they prefer. :)
I made the demigirl hoodie for my model, but I also offer demiboy, demigender and demiandrogyne on the same listing. I also made demi-ace for my model, but demi-aro is on the same listing.
Just as last time, all my models are what they鈥檙e showing! It is very important for me to show actual people wearing their colors with pride. Most of them are friends and acquaintances who answered my call, one of them I recruited from a local center. Also I got more plus-size models this time! It just happened this way, but I鈥檓 glad I can show more sizes this time!
With these added to the first collection, I now have 20 Pride flags in my shop. If yours isn鈥檛 there, or if you prefer another version of a flag I make, just poke me for a custom one! As long as I can procure the right colors on the right fabric, I can make something for you - and it鈥檒l probably be about the same price as a hoodie with the same number of stripes.
(PS: The first stripe on the first one looks quite red on the picture, but it鈥檚 actually a red-ish dark orange, I swear. I鈥檓 still looking for a more orange-ish dark orange. I鈥檓 also still shopping fabrics to offer the 7 stripes version of the orange and pink lesbian flag, but this might take a bit of time. Please bear with me until then, I鈥檒l post news when I can do it. :) )
(PPS: I know the chevron on the Queer Community hoodie is not suuuuuper intense. I鈥檒l make it more visible on the orders!)
