One reason I love fiber arts so much is because until I started seriously getting into visible mending and embroidery I didn't have a defined style. But now I'm embroidering butterflies on my dress while waiting for my ride to church because it makes me happy. I have people talking to my friends about how much they love my yellow overalls, and my friends respond "her clothes are cute because she makes them like that!" I can make any clothes more "me" with a needle, thread, and a little creativity. I feel beautiful because I put effort into my clothes to make then fit who I am as a person. And I think everyone should do this.

Can I just say, with no pretension and full earnestness: I love writing. I love the actual act of picking up a pen and scribbling words across a page. I love seeing my words add up to passages. I love sentences and sentence structure. I love a good twist to a sentence and the exact right word choice. I love pretty words and ugly words. I love rollicking sentences and squat sentences and paragraphs that have a good smack. I love how words can have a tone. i like how words look - the actual letters on the page are art to me. I like writing about facts and I like making things up. I like writing good stories. I like writing bad stories. I could write about doing my taxes, and I would have a good time. all this to say, shout out to my homeboy(s), words. they're great

"They were a good person with good intentions and strong convictions and belief in doing the right thing. And because of that they deeply hurt people including people they were trying to protect" - is fantastic characterisation that too many people reduce to only one half of the equation
"They were a good person and people still died because they didn't put trust in anyone else" ← is so fucking good but people don't fucking appreciate it
"They were a good person and they failed. Over and over again. They failed." ← DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND HOW DELICIOUS THAT IS!?!?
I am on my hands and knees begging people to allow characters to be complex and flawed and not reduced down to "The Good Guy" and "The Bad Guy"

The individual stakes in the Lunar Chronicles are hilarious to me.
Cinder is the missing Lunar princess, and Iko’s her best friend. Kai is an Emperor and being perused by Levena as a political pawn. Wolf is one of Levena’s mind controlled soldiers who was sent after Scarlet, whose grandmother was part of Selene’s rescue team. Winter is Levana’s stepdaughter, and Jacin was raised alongside her and they basically the only family they each have left. Cress is Levena’s secret weapon who has been trying desperately to warn Earth about Levana’s plans, and is the daughter of a rouge Lunar scientist defying Levena.
And then there’s Thorne, who is only nvolved in saving the universe because Cinder took a wrong turn into his cell while trying to escape from prison 😂

My doggo, Ezri, who rarely barks and mostly borks.
When I got her, she’d been abused and would cower and pee at almost everything, and had been mistreated when she’d barked, so she never would. One day months after I had her she got excited on a walk and borked at a bird, and then immediately cower-peed. I had to re-teach her to bark by gathering her whole human pack and having everyone bark and howl and feed her treats and pet her till she got excited enough to join in, and then got more treats. Took a while but I was able to teach her to bork on command (and she’s gotta be excited or she just stares at me like “Sorry, the bork system needs charging”) and she’ll do it happily when she’s excited to go for a walk or upon seeing a friend, and at birds. I love her croaky borking, especially when she started off terrified of making a joyful noise.

I overheard my 14-yo say (while petting her cat), "you raw piece of corn. You unplugged toaster. The plate is spinning, but the light isn't on."

The only downside to talking to small children like they’re normal people and treating them like normal people (as per my mom) is that as they develop into bigger children they are viscerally aware of every single moment in which they are pandered to like stupid little accessories (as per my dad, my teacher, the special ed aide, every adult in my middle school) and you end up getting a lot of phone calls from people reporting your kid for (checks notes) “undermining authority”, “disrupting the classroom environment”, “disobeying elder peers”, and “unionizing the grade eleven gym class with intent to incite a mutiny” (as per me) and you end up with a Grown Adult who will absolutely encourage and enable other people’s children to fuck the sustem
