FISHMAN #3 - All You Can Catch

Glisteningly the lamps fill the dark street with light, car sounds surround the scene. Edward, wearing a blazer, stands patentily in front of The Ten Tentacles, the famous restaurant by Calamari Calmar, waiting for his companion Louis Backfishing to arrive for the all you can catch event. Other fishes swarm into the local and walk past Ed.

In the distance he can decipher Louis in the masses of fish. Louis approaches Edward with a bright smile, greeting him: "Hi Edward! Glad to see you!"

Ed looks at Louis: "Glad to see you too. Shall we go in?"

Louis agrees and takes his hand, passing the entrance together. Inside of the establishment laughter and classical music is lighting up the place. A waitress leads Edward and Louis to their table and explains them they can eat so much how they want to. Louis smiles and tells Ed that he get some nice dishes for them. Edward nods and observes silently his surrounding. In the middle of the restaurant he sees Calamari Calmar, greeting guests and smiling omniously.

Their eyes met for a second, both sharing a strict eyecontract... Suddenly a small fish with a blue bandana jumps torwards Calamari.

Louis arrives back to their table, handing Ed a bowl of algae pasta: "Soo, how do you like it so far?"

Ed nods and replies calmly: "Quite... interesting, I have to say."

With sparkling eyes Louis points into the masses of the fish: "Is- IS THAT FISHMAN? ... I never imagined him so small though? This is insane!"

Edward is slightly confused: "That kid is no Fishman. He probably just dressed up to play as him."

"Well, but wasn't he invited? I swear it was in the newspa-", Louis stops.

A microphone interrupts him and Calamari Calmars voice is filling the room: "Dear guests, I am glad to see so many new and old faces in my establishment. It is a honour to me to have you here. Such events strengthens the bond we have as citizen of Fish Town!"

The audience applauses and Calamari bows on top of a water-fountain-podium, the spotlight on him. Only Ed shrugs and looks skeptically.

"And I am proud to announce that even the only and true Fishman is today here!", Calamari shouts joyful.

Edward hesitates a moment and tenses his muscles.

"May I present you? FISHMAN!", behind Calamari jumps the small fish with the blue bandana and a microphone in his hand now: "I am happy to be here tonight! You guys mean the world to me! Enjoy the food!"

A big applause brightens up the mood of the room even more and many fishes shout: "I LOVE YOU FISHMAN!"

Meanwhile Calamari wraps his tentacle around the shoulder of the young fish, leading him torwards the kitchen. Edward assumes there must be something foul behind this. He stands up and wants to follow them.

"Where do you go? You did not even touch your pasta. Are you... really enjoying this?", Louis asks him while looking like a sad puppy.

"I- sorry, I really have to go to the toilet. I am back soon. Don't worry", Edward answers, him feeling kind of guilty while leaving his date alone.

He approaches the doors of the kitchen and sneaks in. In there are a dozen of crab chefs, cooking busily and air vents on the ground pull the steamy air out but no clues where Calamari and the boy did go. Ed puts a cooking hat on top his head to disguise himself. While Ed looks around himself, inspecting the scenery, he hears two crabs talking: "So, is the boss really doing this? Is this the final attempt? Unbelievable. But I have to say, I am really happy that I never was down in his labs... The screams from there give me till this day nightmares."

A lab underneath the kitchen? Ed moves his body, with a somersault he opens one of the vents and jumps directly in it. Cold air whips his face and he puts quickly his red bandana on during the fall.

He mitigates the impact of the fall when landing. Around Fishman is a shady and sterile lab and two shrimps in white doctor coats approach him. Fishman hides immediatly into the shadows and sneaks through the facility. There are locked mechanical doors with signs which have numbers on them all over the place. Fishman walks very cautiously, minding the security cameras above him until he reached a big gate which is about to close. He jumps forwards and gets through the gap.

The door behind him closed and he is trapped in a total dark room. In front of him he sees Calamari Calmar on a screen: "Aaa, Fishman! I hoped you would come! I was almost worried that you wouldn't make it. Did my little fish bait attract you to my rod?", Calamari points on the young fish in the background, being unconscious and tied up.

Fishman asks madly: "What did you to him? Let him go! This is a fight between us."

"Hahaha, indeed, it is. But you know what? I wanna prove your strength first. Let's try... Oh yeah! This is going to be fun", Calamari presses a button and the screen turns off.

Two glistening yellow eyes appear in the dark. Suddenly a giant claw attacks Fishman with huge speed. He jumps over it and lands on the ground again. Headlights brighten up the room and a giant deformed crab with cyborg parts stands in front of Fishman. The crab attacks again and throws Fishman against the wall. After the impact he dashes quickly away and jumps behind his enormous enemy. The other giant cyborg claw tries to catch Fishman but he jumps onto the crab and punches one of the eyes. The crab screams furiously and shakes him off its back. It tries to trample Fishman to death but Fishman slides along the ground and jumps up into the air. He does a kick into the stomach and slams the crab on its back. It is unable to move and swings to get back on its legs. Fishman takes the opportunity and jumps through a vent in the ceiling of the room, trying to escape the fight. In the vents above the room, he hears a big roar and a giant claw suddenly slams through the ceiling, almost cutting Fishman in two halfs. He moves on fastly and climbs up the vent into another room, leaving the crab behind him...

FISHMAN #2 - On the Track of Calamari Calmar

Edward awakes in the early morning in his apartment. His cat, Tuna, is laying on top of his chest, purring calmy. He still can't believe what happened. Since the last month his new abilities changed his whole life. During the day he works at his office at the "AquaSupplies & Co." but in the night he becomes FISHMAN, fighting for justice to protect Fish Town.

Edward strokes Tuna gently, then stands up and moves tired to the kitchen, craving for a hot brewed coffee. He refills Tuna's bowl and picks up "The Daily Current", the famous newspaper by the journalist Manta Rayman. Sipping from his cup, Edward takes off his reading glasses and notices an obscure article. "Calamari Calmar announces -The yearly 'The Ten Tentacles®' all you can catch buffet is tonight!! Our beloved hero FISHMAN is INVITED."

Ed frowns after he read the article. Why is the famous restaurant owner Calamari Calmar so invested in Fishman? Very suspicious in Edward's eyes. He stands up from the kitchen chair and strokes Tuna's head a last time. With his briefcase he steps out of the door of his apartment on his way to his job. But on the way he can't think about anything else than which mischief is planned by Calmar.

At work, Ed sits down and turns on his computer. He thought he is the first one in the office but without Edward noticing Louis Backfishing, his nemesis of a coworker, stands behind him: "Good morning, Edward! Glad to see you! I was wondering about how it comes that you are soo early in the office always, so, um, you see, I saw it as a little challenge being earlier than you here, haha. How are you?"

"Tired.", says Edward annoyed, looking at his desktop background picturing Tuna cuddling with a Tuna plush.

Louis eyes sparkle: "Woaaah, is that your cat? What's their name? Sooo cute! I wished I had a pet. My parents have a dog but I don't see them that often sadly."

Ed blinks and replies: "Her name is Tuna. Don't you have any work to do?"

"OH, yeah, recently our department is very busy with shipping, you are right. But I thought I could give you a little visit... Actually, I was in general wondering about if you would be interested... I mean perchance... in meeting me outside of work? ... Going out for a coffee?"

Confused Edward asks: "What?"

"I mean, you don't have to of course!! I... I... Just forget, what I said. I will die in shame at my desk.", Louis mumbles, flustered by the situation.

While Louis attempts to leave, Edward hesitates for a second and stops him: "Actually, what do you think if you kept me some company tonight at the all you can catch event at The Ten Tentacles? I wouldn't mind you.", him secretly planning to go undercover tonight and a clueless partner would help to hide his intent.

Louis blushes with wide eyes open and shouts: "YES I WOULD LOVE TO, I SEE YOU THERE THEN!", running to the other side of the office's building.

Typing a formular on his screen, Edward smiles confidently and presses enter on the keyboard.

FISHMAN – The Origin of the hero of Fish Town

The dearly beloved Fishman wasn’t always the hero who we know today. He was just a normal fish citizen like you or me. But one day, the young Edward Fish walked through an lonely alley after his work shift and suddenly a pile of nuclear fish chum fell out of the sky onto him, trapping him and activating mutations inside of Edward’s genes. He suffered and screamed, in pain he writhed. His flosses gained a burst of energy and strength and his senses became fishier than ever before. He could sense the ocean with new eyes, he could feel the evil forces of under water’s cruelty harming justice. His new spirit of justice commanded him to act. There was no return. He had to act. Edward, never as before, walked down the streets of Fish Town, the dark night above him which is spending foul souls cover, he gave an oath to protect this town until he took his last breath.

Suddenly, a scream echoed through the cold air of the night behind Edward and a shiver of agony crawled in a blink through his body. His muscles took over control and moved Edward towards the alley he just came from. Two figures dressed in black stand there, pointing a gun on an old lady. “Who are you?! I just asked you to clean this pile of garbage? I am going to call the police!! Help!”, whimpered the old fish lady scared. One of the fish crooks looked over to the other: “Let it be, there is no point, Bernie. Just get rid of the witness.” “Are you sure, Harald?”, the other crook asked uncomfortably while two eyes flashed silently up behind them. “Give me that goddamn gun, we have to get that drop to our boss… UGH! AAA!!”, fiercely exclaimed crook Harald out of pain after Edward slammed him to the house’s wall. Bernie looked even more shocked now seeing his partner laying unconscious down at the ground and tried to run away but like the speed of light Edward also overwhelmed him, grabbed him and smashed him down into the ground. Satisfied looking at the two crooks, Edward turned over when the old lady asked him confused: “Who are you?” Edward took a breath and his voice spoke:

“I am Fishman.”
