I go by Aravis, they/she/ae pronouns (it varies.) I have a lot of interests, many of them end up here. It’s a bit of a mess.

Okay, I know it's bad, but arguing with lgbtqphobes is so much fun. I know I won't get anywhere, but they're stupidity is entertaining to me. Besides, it lets me help the post gain more notes, annoys the phobes, and shows people they don't have to take the hate lying down and have people on their side.
To me, it seems like a win-win. Though that's my opinion. I might have found a troublesome hobby. Whoops.

I have changed literally nothing about my life since medically transitioning. I still wear the same clothes and do the same shit, I just have better skin and hair now. Shit rules.

upsides of listening to music:
music yay yay yay!!!!!! yaaaaay!!!! yipee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
downsides of listening to music
if you listen to the right song for the first time while in a certain headspace you will be changed forever as your soul shutters and warps and contorts into new forms never before seen
get an idea for an animatic you will never finish

With love like this, who needs hate?
Yes. This. This is what every queer person deals with in a hateful "loving" community, and especially every nonbinary person living in a needlessly binary world.
A reminder to all the people out there who have to deal with this: if they claim to love you and treat you like this, then they only love the person they wish you were. Find other people, other communities, because I promise you, there are people there who will love you for who you are. It sucks that spaces where we can be accepted seem so rare, but I promise they do exist, and it's far better to find people who love you than to stay around those who don't.
I have gone by it/its exclusively for 13 years. I have identified as this xenogender for 13 years. I have not once gone back and forth on this. I picked a different name, I settled on it, I made it legal, and I moved on. Not once in my life have I ever used other pronouns after I came out. But of course, remembering my pronouns is too difficult for everyone around me - my family, my coworkers, etc. - who then have no problem remembering a binary transwoman's pronouns at work. These people haven't been able to get my pronouns right in over a decade. My coworkers have NEVER heard me introduce myself with anything over than it/its. But they he/him me all the time (not even they/them, which would at least not be so attached to a gender, they explicitly he/him me), while also miraculously adjusting to the binary person's she/her in under a month.
Genuinely, I think about killing myself more and more with every year this drags out. They all want to say they support me and they support trans people and they're against Trump's anti-queer legislation. They apparently think I'm so stupid I'll believe them when they say that. I cannot recall a single time anyone I know has used my pronouns. They insist they love me. "My pronouns are it/its," I point out. The second I turn away, they say to each other, "Ugh, he's doing it again." They talk about me like I'm a Ken doll, fun and pretty to have around, but annoying when it won't conform to their imaginary ideals for what a Ken doll should be. My own family won't use my now legal name or pronouns. They get angry when I don't go to family events or holiday dinners. After all, they love me, just like my coworkers, so they're entitled to my time. They're so supportive, they insist. They love me.
With love like this, who needs hate?
this is exorsexism.

you really can reach a point with transgender enlightenment wherein you can attribute any bodily feature silhouette and detail to any gender regardless of typical cisgender aesthetic connotations. anything can be a man's body if the person in it is a man. anything can be a woman's body if the person in it is a woman. anything can be a genderless body if the person in it is genderless. and so on. the only thing that matters is the personhood within and whether you are willing to look and know and see it. open your eyes. keep trying until you no longer flinch or turn away in shame or anger or confusion.

Something I’ve learned from the rediculous discourse on this website is that a surprising amount of people don’t see forced invisibility as a valid form of oppression.

Appeasement will work just as well now as it did in the 1930s. Never bow the knee to facism of any kind.
all the trans bathroom bans have this awful tendency to push the overton window of even trans advocacy by trans people to the right
so many trans people now are focused on pleading to let trans women use women's restrooms and to let trans men use men's restrooms that I feel like the demand that was much more prominent even 5 years ago to construct non-segregated accessible bathrooms for everyone is almost nonexistent

I believe it's going somewhat differently in other fields -- it's occasionally possible to get paid pretty well with just a master's (if you are a really good teacher, the standards are high) and it's a lot easier with a phd. Admittedly though, my knowledge on this is limited to a science department at a very science-focused institution, so I can't speak for the whole of it either. I can confirm that it's getting a lot harder to hire new teachers with the funding cuts and unreliability, though, even if it's not as bad yet in science as it is in humanities.
Whenever I talk about my summer accounting classes with my family they’re like “woah that sounds like a lot of work :/“ in such a way that it sounds like they don’t think I know that. I’m not stupid. I chose to do this on purpose. I knew what I was signing up for.
