What if Kawahira was a shinigami who stole weapons (i.e. the pacifiers) from the Soul King's Palace, lost control of them, and then implemented the Arcobaleno system to cover up his fuck-up.
What if, somehow, Yuzu got roped into flame-society shenanigans. As a sky, of course. (Look, she's a Kurosaki. She's Ichigo's little sister. Karin's twin! She's not going to be normal. She absolutely could end up running a magical crime-syndicate, commanding immense respect and adoration.)
Ichigo and the Urahara-shop gang are just on the sidelines, cheering Yuzu on.
The flame users who interact with the Urahara-shop gang don't really peg Urahara and Yoruichi as threats, because while Reborn and the Varia and such are good, they're not centuries-old onmitsukido good. Kisuke and Yoruichi know how to pretend to be harmless, and they find it really funny when people not in the know look down on them for being weak.
One day, Yuzu and the Urahara-shop gang are in a meeting with the Vongola and Arcobaleno. Kawahira drops in to be ominous and dispense a quest to Tsuna.
Kawahira takes one look at who's in the room, and tries to flee.
Kisuke is on him in a heart-beat, faster than any human in the room can track, pinning him to the floor with Benihime at his throat.
None of the flame-users know where tf the sword came from.
"Kawahira-kun!" Yoruichi exclaims, delighted. "What a surprise! We've been looking for you for so long."
A heartbeat. "Kisuke, darling," she says, and suddenly she seems very dangerous. "Take him to the maggot's nest, will you?"
Kisuke looks at her and grins.
And then Kisuke and Kawahira vanish, gone in shunpo far too fast for a non-shinigami to comprehend.
Can you imagine Reborn's reaction? The rest of the Arcobaleno? The Varia, who got a taste of Kisuke's bloodlust for like, half a second?
Man, I need this fic. Let me know when it manifests spontaneously. Surely a monkey on a typewriter will produce it soon.... aaaaannnny moment now...

Hey folks. Real talk time. I've been seeing some discourse on the USAmerican side of tumblr that genuinely scares me, so I felt the need to put together a few reminders to hopefully spread around Tumblr. If you have the spoons, please create your own posts about these things so we can make sure as many people as possible are informed.
Tumblr staff did not just decide for themselves that certain accounts might be Russian trolls. US law enforcement agencies conducted a federal investigation, and found that Russian trolls were conducting Psy-Ops operations across multiple social media sites. The Russian trolls had the express goal of influencing the outcome of the 2016 election. If an account was banned for being a Russian troll, it was due to this federal investigation. It was not a false accusation from a tumblr staff member that didn't like what a liberal activist was saying.
It is highly likely that Russia has not stopped using this tactic.
Many of these trolls twisted the truth to split the Democratic party. I can't find it anymore, but there's an old post where you can literally see this in action. In the post, a Russian troll -- who had been pretending for a long time to be a liberal activist on tumblr, and was thus trusted by the community -- misquoted Hillary Clinton to make it seem like she was against free college and student debt forgiveness. The Russian agent quoted something Clinton said in a debate with Bernie Sanders: "I disagree with free college." Not included by the Russian agent was the vital context, in which Clinton argued for free and debt-free community college and public universities. This is the full quote the Russian agent didn't use, which was made in reference to private schools only: "I disagree with free college... I don't think the American people should pay for Donald Trump's kids to go to college."
The Republican party often struggles to win the popular vote in presidential elections. It is in the Republican party's best interest to split the Democratic vote.
In order to win the presidential election, MAGA needs to get liberals to vote for third-party candidates or to not vote at all. Please do not let them trick you into serving their agenda.
A third-party candidate has not won the presidential election since the 1800s.
If you do not have the spoons to read news articles or watch multiple news channels, it is vital to be aware that you are especially vulnerable to propaganda on social media. You do not get the full story from tumblr posts. You do not get nuance on current events from tumblr posts. You may be being straight-up lied to on tumblr posts. Remember to take things with a grain of salt. Remember that a lot of propaganda relies on inducing outrage and strong emotional reactions.
If you are upset about the Gaza-Israel situation, and it is going to affect your vote, you must read news articles -- not tumblr posts -- about what Biden has done, what Biden has failed to do, and what Biden's opponents' plans and stances are. This is an area where the propaganda is going to be strongest, and if you want to do right by the citizens of Palestine and Israel, you have to research what's happening. Do not act based off of information from social media, because so much of it will be biased if not downright false. If you don't have the spoons to read or watch the news on these things, I urge you not to vote based off of just this issue, because it would be so easy to vote against your own morals if your only info is from tumblr. And if you think the situation is important enough to determine your vote -- well, then it's clearly important enough to research properly.
Again: In order to win the presidential election, MAGA needs to get liberals to vote for third-party candidates or to not vote at all. Please do not let them trick you into serving their agenda.
Anyway, please reblog or create your own posts on these topics. Let's work together and aim for herd immunity against propaganda.

You know that mafia stereotype of like. Kissing the bossā€™s ring to show respect?
None of Tsunaā€™s people ever did that. Went directly for his hand. And Tsuna doesnā€™t know enough about actual mafia stuff to go ā€œwait isnā€™t that wrongā€
Another thing related to that is like. Tsuna wondering if people like him for him or because heā€™s a sky, and vastly overestimating the way his element affects other people. Overestimating how flame works in general, tbh. I mean, it makes sense. no oneā€™s ever actually taught him how it works beyond a fight and the whole guardian thing, so of course he thinks that people only flock to him, only stay with him, because of something that he doesnā€™t really view as part of himself
Other people are different, of course. Doesnā€™t even realize how ridiculous that way of thinking is, but his insecurity is Big
Like first he has to get past the idea that people only like him and stay with him because heā€™s Vongola and then itā€™s the next hurdle, because that much consistent rejection isnā€™tā€¦ Something thatā€™s going to be easy to get past and to swallow because otherwise itā€™s like. People werenā€™t mean to him, werenā€™t cruel to him, for a reason that was easily fixed.
There wasnā€™t any sense to it
And someone like Tsuna doesnā€™t like to consider that people are justā€¦ Cruel
That there isnā€™t a greater underlying reason behind his suffering. That he was simply a convenient target. It also takes away an avenue of blame he didnā€™t know he was holding on to, with the sealing and everything. Like oh, if that hadnā€™t happened, people would have been nicer to me!
But thatā€™s not how it works
Tsuna voice: wow adulthood kind of sucks I do not want to be thinking about any of this
Anyway Tsuna is self centered and kind of egotistical in his own Tsuna way, and I love that about him!

Have a Bleach extended-winter-war time-travel-fix-it idea. In this AU Kaien's death happened before the whole turn-back-the-pendulum arc. (Yes, another Bleach time-travel AU, I know, shut up.)
As Ichigo and Kisuke are planning to go back to the past, Kisuke makes sure to emphasize to Ichigo that they have to protect Shiba Kaien. Apparently, it's of the utmost importance.
Ichigo doesn't know exactly how Kaien's continued well-being plays into saving the future. Kisuke never really explains it, or gives him a straight answer when he asks. But Ichigo knows that the Shiba Clan-Head carried a great deal of political power, and Ichigo also knows that Kaien -- according to Kukaku and Rukia -- was highly competent, incredibly noble, and fundamentally kind. It's not exactly unintuitive that a person like that could be important to bringing down Aizen.
So Ichigo listens, when Kisuke tells him to protect Shiba Kaien. He memorizes how Kaien died in the original timeline. He's attentive as Kisuke reiterates for the thousandth time that Aizen will keep trying to assassinate Kaien until he succeeds. He takes notes when Kisuke hypothesizes about what Aizen's various assassination attempts might look like -- poison during a meal, hired assassins at night, an ambush during a mission.
Ichigo ingrains the assignment into his core: protect Shiba Kaien, because if Kaien falls, the mission fails.
So when Kisuke slips a paralytic into Ichigo's tea and places Ichigo in the middle of the time-travel kido array and drains the entirety of his own spiritual energy to activate the array, a sacrifice that Ichigo never would have agreed to--
Well. The first thing Ichigo does when he arrives back in the past, numb and alone and only able to function by focusing on the duty that is his purpose -- is track down Shiba Kaien.
After all, if Ichigo is going to kill Aizen -- and he is, no matter what it takes -- he needs to keep Kaien alive.
Ichigo goes straight to the Shiba family grounds. In true Shiba fashion, they accept him immediately as family. They tend to his wounds and give him a meal and welcome him home. They let him get away with his weak excuses and explanations, and they defend his presence to the rest of Soul Society.
Kaien, in accordance with everything Ichigo has heard about the man, personally takes the newest addition to the family under his wing.
Ichigo's plans to deal with Aizen take shape around his need to keep an eye on Kaien.
Ichigo, instead of running as far and fast as he can from the Shiba clan, accepts the offer to live in the Shiba compound. He gets to know every clan member and retainer, subtly vetting for traitors. He sleeps in a room near Kaien's, allowing him to both guard against assassins at night and place warding runes around Kaien's door without having to worry about being caught somewhere he has no business being.
He joins the Court Guard in the 13th division instead of the 5th, because the only real way to protect Kaien on a mission is to be there with him. Ichigo knows that if there's an ambush, or if the mission details have been tampered with, he'll be more than enough fire power to get Kaien out of it. And it's easy to always get paired with Kaien; Kaien -- reliably taking every opportunity to hover around Ichigo that he's offered -- does most of the work, leveraging his status as lieutenant and Ichigo's combat ability to keep them together.
Ichigo finds himself frequently taking meals with Kaien and Kaien's friends. Kaien always invites Ichigo, and Ichigo accepts so he can subtly check the food for poison.
(Ichigo does not tell Kaien about Aizen. Ichigo is still unsure what Kaien's role is in the whole fight, and in the meantime, telling him about Aizen is a sure way to get him killed.)
Things heat up. Ichigo prevents both Miyako and Kaien's death, killing Metastacia before it can hurt anyone. Ichigo's shadow war against Aizen gets more intense. Ichigo sneaks out regularly to dismantle Aizen's illusions, destroy his labs, and attack his network of power, slowly weakening him.
Ichigo waits for the assassination attempts against Kaien, but they don't come, even several weeks after Metastacia fails. Ichigo takes it as a sign that he's got Aizen distracted.
Things continue for a while. Ichigo falls into a strange routine.
(And Ichigo tries not to break, seeing so many of his loved ones alive and unknowing of him. It is agony, to be around Shunsui, who is not his mentor, and the Visored, who are neither visored nor pack.
But the worst is when Captains Urahara and Shihouin catch on to his war against Aizen. He finds himself working with them as allies.
Allies. Mere allies, instead of --
Well. Not that it matters anymore.
All that matters is his duty.)
Time passes. Aizen weakens. There are no attempts on Kaien's life yet.
And then Aizen's web has unraveled enough for Ichigo to attack.
It's a long battle. It's a bloody battle. It's a very public battle.
Ichigo wins.
And it's only after it's all over -- after Aizen's crimes are revealed and Soul Society is at peace and the future is saved; after Ichigo finds himself still alive and adrift, with nothing left obligating him to keep going and everything telling him to give up; as Kaien refuses to leave Ichigo alone and escorts him to regular appointments with Unohana and forces him to talk about the truth of his past --
It's only then that it clicks.
Ichigo is whispering secrets about the future into Kaien's chest, Kaien's arms wrapped tight around him, when Ichigo confesses that he messed up, that he put the Shiba clan in unnecessary danger. Ichigo tells Kaien about his death in the original timeline. He talks about how Kisuke told him that in this timeline, Aizen would try and kill Kaien again if the first attempt failed. Ichigo promises desperately that he never would have sought out the family -- would have kept the danger far, far away from them -- if he hadn't thought he had to watch Kaien's movements so closely.
And Ichigo admits that Aizen never actually tried again. Ichigo admits that he and Kisuke miscalculated, that Ichigo brought danger to the Shiba's doorstep for nothing.
It happens like this:
First, the words leave his lips, "Kisuke" and "miscalculated" in the same sentence. Hearing himself say it lays bare the absurdity of its premise.
Then, Kaien draws away slightly, to look Ichigo in the eyes. Ichigo sees, plain on Kaien's face, a terrible, damning gratefulness.
Then, Kaien says -- fierce and defiant in the face of what could have been -- "I am so glad you came home."
And it clicks. At last, Kisuke's final manipulation reveals itself to Ichigo's eyes.
The emotions flash through him: the sting of betrayal; a flavor of love that bursts across his tastebuds as hurt; a familiar brand of exasperation that, a split second later, has his knees giving out under the weight of old pain made fresh.
Kaien catches Ichigo before he hits the ground and holds him as he shatters. And Ichigo can barely breathe through the knowledge that Kisuke would have been so smug to see them.
A sob rips itself from Ichigo's chest, and it's followed by another, and another.
Ichigo's older cousin holds him, in the home of their family, through it all.
_________
THE END except not really.
This must immediately be followed by a whole arc where Kaien, much to his own dismay, finds himself trying to hook Urahara up with his little cousin.
After all, Future-Urahara sent Ichigo to the Shiba clan. Future-Urahara tricked his little cousin into bypassing his own self-destructive tendencies to seek out family and love and support. Clearly, Urahara would actually be good for Ichigo.
And, you know, Ichigo clearly loves Younger-Urahara, judging by Ichigo's whole... well, everything, whenever the two interact.
(This whole matchmaking endeavor is made easier by the fact that 1) Kisuke is already infatuated, fascinated, and not a tiny-bit madly in love, and 2) Yoruichi is also, from the other end, trying to set Kisuke up with Ichigo.
This whole endeavor is made more difficult by the fact that 1) Ichigo is in denial that he loves this younger Kisuke since he never thought this younger Kisuke could also fall in love with him, 2) Kisuke is in denial that he loves Ichigo because that is a Shiba and he himself is a creepy low-born ex-assassin mad-scientist, and 3) neither Ichigo nor Kisuke know what it looks like when someone is interested in them.)
Poor Kaien. He succeeds eventually, but not before witnessing truly legendary social ineptitude.

BEHOLD THE WORK OF @secretlypansexualmango
IT'S SO GOOD
I have been brain rotting back and forth with @stormsthatrage about Shinichi in an au where only Ichigo goes back in time, and for once I made something thatā€™s not all angst. Behold:
So Ichigo goes back in time, gets found by the Shibas in not entirely dire straits so they donā€™t need to get Unohana. Thereby giving him a certain lack of notoriety once Ichigo ā€˜decidesā€™ he wants to go to the Academy, heā€™s still obviously talented- but in a way thatā€™s more normal levels of genius.
So he goes to the academy, blazes through it in a year or two and gets accepted to Shinjiā€™s division. Who is not suspicious of him exactly, but more curious.
At this point Ichigo knows that heā€™s got enough time to play the long game here, and as much as he was a proponent of throwing himself headlong into any and every fight, Kisuke and Shinji did eventually managed to pound some appreciation of planning and tactics into his brain at some point during the extended war.
So heā€™s not content, but heā€™s settled in for the long haul.
(heā€™s lonely and longing and yearning for his pack bonds but for Shinji most of all, Shinji who was his leader and partner, Shinji who seemed like he always knew what to do, Shinji who was never not there when Ichigo needed him)
But of course voicing these sentiments would have him either murdered or thrown into Muken so he adapts, improvises, overcomes.
Heā€™s watchful, learning the habits and preferences of this new old Shinji, his favourite tea, what he likes to read, things he finds funny, how he prefers to order his paperwork, where he likes to go to lunch and his favourite shampoo. He watches and attends and he thinks he can live with this new normal.
Shinji doesnā€™t really seem to show him any real preference, but the regard he shows any of his officers is enough, has to be enough. So Ichigo contents himself with the occasional praise and shoulder pat. He thinks he settled into a routine that can last until he can make some real change.
Shinji had noticed of course, that his 4th(?) seat had always been accommodating and especially helpful and was always watching him and smiling - ahh. He sees.
And itā€™s not as if Kaien is trying to Shanghai Shinji into eternal matrimony with his baby cousin, itā€™s really more of a ā€œlet him down gentlyā€ (or theyā€™ll never find your body) ā€œif he confesses donā€™t be cruel about rejecting himā€ (or I will Bankai your ass to Hueco Mundo and back)
Ichigo doesnā€™t know what changed. (Kaien went to some length to make sure Ichigo wouldnā€™t find out) Itā€™s just that all of a sudden Shinji starts watching him back.
Watching with intent.
Itā€™s too much to hope for, that he might feel some remnant of a pack bond so Ichigo just pretends not to notice. Shinji for his part thinks Ichigo must have resigned himself to one sided pining.
Shinji likes what he sees is the thing. Ichigo is considerate and attentive and observant. Genuinely kind in his own gruff way thatā€™s not limited to nobles or Shinigami. So Shinji decides, well heā€™s never been one to really hold himself back from what he wants so he invites Ichigo to drinks to test the waters. They both get absolutely hammered and end up snuggling together on Shinjiā€™s couch, and when Shinji wakes up in the morning, sees Ichigo curled up into his side with his face pressed into neck, he thinks *ah* this is happening.

Same anon as before, you could go incredibly angsty, Ichigo is lonely and desperate to have someone to be of use. Lots of angst potential there, alternatively you could also have alleged ā€˜academy studentā€™ or freshly graduated Ichigo trailing after Shinji like a middle schooler with their first crush(at least thatā€™s what it would seem like)
Ichigo, dealing with instincts that have him trying to take care of the whole pack, without the balance of them having instincts to take care of him. Ichigo, running himself into the ground to protect and look after them while also having to hide his tracks so no one gets suspicious or weirded out by his behavior. Ichigo, doing everything in his power to mask that he has a deep attachment to certain members of the Gotei 13, because he's fresh from the academy and no one would understand and he can't arouse suspicion with Aizen on the loose.
Anon you are feeding me so well.

Your new post made me think of pack!angst with an Ichigo who goes back in time - big oof for him to suddenly have so support system
YES!! Yes 100%!!!!!!
Ichigo, who grew up with the name of "first-protector," who has been subtly taught all his life that his value is in his ability to defend others, who is deeply traumatized and has none of the wisdom that comes from being centuries old, who is still unsure of his place in the pack --
He wouldn't just not go to Kisuke for help, he would straight up prevent Aizen from visoring the others. And until someone else figured out who he is, he would be alone, in agony with broken pack-bonds, unable to reach out, in so much danger --

Concept: Time-traveling Shinji, whose consciousness took over his younger body, press-ganging the young captain Urahara Kisuke into visoring the other Visored ahead of schedule.
Because the Visored are pack. They're fraccion. And that means they don't live without each other, damn it. Their bond is sacred, soul-deep, and not a single one of them wouldn't fight tooth-and-nail, wouldn't commit atrocities, to fix its severing.
So Shinji, upon arriving in the past, immediately hits up Kisuke. Shinji, of course, has spent enough time with the younger captain to know exactly how to convince him of the truth of the Aizen-induced apocalypse. (Aizenocalypse? Anyway.) Shinji also knows how to emphasize the increased power that comes from being Visored, and how necessary that type of power is in fighting Sosuke Aizen.
So poor Kisuke, under immense pressure from Shinji, finds himself luring various captains and lieutenants into his lab, one by one, over a period of a few weeks, to corrupt their soul. He feels like he's become some sort of horror story villain.
(Shinji does not tell him that, in the future-that-won't-be, Kisuke was framed for doing exactly what he's currently actually doing.)
As soon as each victim is visored, the fraccion-bond snaps into place with those that have already been visored. After a minor initial freak-out, they each quickly find themselves over the deception, agreeing that it was the right choice.
They also all get vague memories and emotional impressions from their future selves, thanks to the traces their future selves left on Shinji's spiritual energy. This has two effects. First, their control over their hollow powers is instinctual, as they essentially have the experience of their future selves. Second, they have a sudden and deep closeness to each other that is impossible to hide from outsiders.
Imagine. One by one, they go down to Kisuke's lab, and resurface with a personality change and a new and powerful ability to give the heebie-jeebies.
Kisuke is pulling his hair out at how suspicious it looks, and how utterly insane his life has gotten.
Also. All of the Visored seem to hover, and he doesn't know why? Before he violated their souls, they were all at best indifferent to him and at worst subtly hostile, and now suddenly they're all very concerned if he's eaten enough or if he's gotten enough sleep? They take turns bringing him meals and forcing him to go home at the end of the day? Instead of, you know, cursing his very existence?????
(What he doesn't know is this: In the future, he was pack, too, even if he wasn't Visored. He stabilized them, and then he and Yoruichi and Tessai -- who were all so young -- took them in at great personal cost. And then those three spent years looking after the Visored, even when none of the Visored knew control and were all wild and rabid and dangerous.
Of course the Visored hover. Of course they worry. Of course they're slightly possessive of their packmate who has no future-memories and doesn't know he's pack.)
Anyway. Imagine the outsider POV. Imagine Kisuke's slow descent into hysteria as he finds himself playing the role of horror-movie villain. Imagine half the upper echelon of the Gotei 13 hiding the fact that they're part hollow. Imagine...
