Anybody remember a shooter video game where it was like an alternate reality where the Union lost the civil war or something like that? It came out over ten years ago. Kind of steam punk esque and sort of a Gears of War rip off? Apart from action adventure it was also a climbing platformer that mimicked assassin’s creed but It was either too ambitious or a dumpster fire of a video game. I’ve been going crazy searching for evidence of it but I can’t even remember what it was called.

2015: I fell into a depression focused on climate change. I had none of the facts but my pessimism was telling me that the window of opportunity to change our way of life was closing. I quit my job, I got shamed by family for being unemployed. I lost hope. 2016: I got a new job. My social life improved and I sort of put the apocalypse out of the forefront of my thinking but it still crept up from time to time. 2017: I met my partner. She shared my concerns, she helped me become a vegetarian. Made me feel like we could make a difference. 2018: we conceived a child although we didn’t know that yet. 2019: we gave birth to our daughter. She is the only thing I worry about. I sort of feel like there isn’t a point to anything anymore. Our forests are burning, the ice caps are melting and our ocean floors are releasing methane. We can sign petitions and make plans to reduce our carbon footprint but it’s already too late. We’ve replaced love of nature with love of consumerism and it cost us everything. I know this little essay is all over the place because I can’t seem to focus. All I know is I wish we had more time.

I guess you can learn to enjoy the little things before they’re gone. Stay in the moment you’re in. It’s a terrible shame.
hi uh does anyone have any tips to handle climate anxiety??
I honestly feel so small and powerless about this whole climate crisis thing. It's gotten to the point of crying myself to sleep.
Even if I try and keep an earth-friendly lifestyle, there are so many people who don't and won't change their habits, and they just don't care. Our planet is dying but they just don't care.
And I swear it makes me feel terribly sad, anxious, and hopeless.
Does anyone have any tips on how to cope with this??

Doomsday clock has world at two minutes from Armageddon
Humanity is just two minutes from Armageddon, the same as last year but still the closest the world has inched to symbolic doom since 1953, at the height of the Cold War.
That was the bleak outlook from the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, the nonprofit organization that oversees the Doomsday Clock — the symbolic timepiece that represents humanity’s perceived proximity to a human-caused apocalypse.

I think gen z should be given the title “the last generation” because we are going to be that last generation to see earth before people destroyed it.

@peteseeger and others have talked about this topic at length already, but I just wanted to reiterate again that voting Democrat is not going to save us from a capitalist apocalypse. To the liberals reading this, most leftist posts advocating politics beyond electoral politics are not saying “don’t vote”. Yes, you should vote if you are able to and it should be understood as damage control for getting Republicans out of office. But you need to understand that it’s still just a slight time-staller for fascism and climate catastrophe. We only have 12 short years before the worst effects of climate change become irreversible, and any long-term proposals that only include voting Democrat are doomed to failure; Democrats are still capitalist, still imperialist, still driven by the same fundamental engine that got us into this mess. We need to start thinking outside the box of capitalist liberal democracy and start building a new world that actually works for everyone. Ecosocialism is the only viable long-term solution, guys. Democrats will not be our saviors.

(And just so we’re clear and so that this post isn’t misunderstood and hijacked by Rock The Vote types: YES, VOTE. Vote Republicans out of office. Then actively resist the subsequent Democrat establishment with your demands for a better world.)

#SiberiaIsBurning
4.5milions hectares of forests in Siberia were burned! It's an area bigger than the State of Belgium!
Siberia is burning!
The forests are burning, the animals are burning alive, entire villages have been wiped away by the flames in complete silence.
The Government is doing nothing, and no one is saying anything.
The interventions to stop the fires are deemed too costly, and no one is saying anything.
The amount of CO2 released by these fires which are involving mines too and thus releasing methane as well, is enough to poison air and water for everyone. The permafrost may melt, and release unkown viruses and make the mortality rate skyrocket. The Artic is melting faster because of the increase in temperature due to the smoke of the fires.
Spread the indignation for the silence that is enveloping this catastrophe!
We must be concerned! All of us.
This is very dangerous. This is global warming.
And it broke my heart by thinking at the poor animals burned alive. Thousands animals dead!
Share this information please, because many of our problems got silenced just because world doesn't care. Politicians don't care. But when all of our forests will die in a fire, we will be the next one to go. We and the animals.
Here a testimony by one of the volunteers in Siberia:
“A bear walked out of the burning forest: thin, part of its fur burned, exhausted.
He approached the men who were trying to put down the fire, not manacing at all, as if it was asking for help.
The bear drank the water and the biscuits (they only had that) that the men gave him, and then it walked away toward that part of the forest still not reached by the flames.
Many men started crying watching the bear walk away.
What may have happened to the other animals of the forest?”
This has been recounted by one of the volunteers in Siberia who have been trying for days to put down the fires that have already wiped away millions of hectares of forest, that I repeat it's an area equivalent to the Belgium.
How many puppies haven’t managed to escape? How much smog? How many will die because of this?
This is a catastrophe! The russian government finally started handling the fire after the info blasted everywhere. But it's not enough. The forest is still burning because the fire is too much big!
Please spread the hashtag in your networks #SiberiaIsBurning or #SiberiaIsOnFire

AMAZON FOREST PSA
listen you don't even know what kind of devastating effect the burning of the Amazonian forest is going to have:
Forests are not helping to combat CO2 the way you think they are: Let me explain
Everybody seems to think that because trees produce oxygen, the amount of oxygen is working against the amount of carbon dioxide in the air and thus, saving us from climate change => we need to plant more trees!
This isn't really why. (Ofc you should still plant trees)
The rain forest or forests in general aren't the best at combatting climate change. They're not even the most efficient. (Seaweed is!)
But trees bind CO2. They use it to grow. Trees are literally made out of carbon dioxide.
If you cut down ancient trees, you're setting free a huge amount of CO2 that is directly responsible for climate change!!!
Do something. Stop this disaster. We won't have time till 2030 if nobody does anything against this.
