My piece for the @noragamibigbang 2021!
In the hanakotoba, the Language of Flowers...
Red camellias symbolize love and passion. For the samurai, they were a particularly ominous flower due to the fact that the flower falls off the stem all at once instead of petal by petal, resembling the act of being beheaded.
Kuroyuri symbolize both love and curse.
Lotus flowers are an enduring symbol of enlightenment in Buddhism, as they rise out of the mud and bloom above water.
I had the honor and pleasure of working with Sparrow, who wrote a wonderful fic to accompany this piece! As niche as it may be, I hope our viewers and readers will enjoy it none-the-less. :P Here’s the fic!
Thank you to the mods for holding another successful event!

There are twelve kingdoms, twelve rulers and twelve kirin. Each kingdom has its own kirin, a divine creature who must choose a ruler and serve as the kingdom's Saiho, the ruler's chief advisor. The ruler will have immortal life as long as he keeps the kingdom healthy and their heads are not severed from their body.
Tai is known for its jewel springs and a vast amount of its wealth derived from growing gems, gyoku, and precious metals. [...] As one of the most northern kingdoms, Tai is known for being very cold almost all year and has long winters. In contrast, the people of Tai are frequently stereotyped as being fierce and hot-tempered.
noragami twelve kingdoms AU??? in MY 2020??? it’s more likely than you think!
