It’s convention season, and that means con badges!

Wherever You May Roam: A reference photo collection for artists

Free / Pay what you want

Over 1000 photos to use for artistic reference, photo manipulation, marketing, and more!

I've been using these photos for years in my own art, painting over them or collaging them into backgrounds, adding textures to my digital artwork, etc. I decided to share them with other artists who may find them useful.

What these are: Photos I took on my phone in various places of buildings, items, animals, and more that I found visually interesting. There are photos from all over the southeast, as well as some from New Mexico, the Mojave desert, and Alaska. There's quite a variety.

What these aren't: Extremely high quality. Remember, these were taken on phone camera. These are best used as reference or in smaller sized projects. Additionally, if you're looking for very mundane buildings and objects, you won't find those in here. Expect retro cars, Victorian houses, weird and wonderful antique store finds, and evocative landscapes.

I'm offering these "pay what you want" so anyone can afford to use them. If you find them useful, tips are very much appreciated. ❤️

These photos were all taken by a transgender & nonbinary artist so if you're a bigot, leave. ✌️

My card this year was inspired by the first verse of “The Cowboy’s Christmas Ball” by The Killers

Way out in Old Nevada, where the Truckee's waters flow

Where the cattle are "a-browsing" and the Spanish ponies grow;

Where the Northers "come a-whistling" from beyond the Neutral Strip;

And the prairie dogs are sneezing, as if they had "The Grip";

Where the coyotes come a-howling around the ranches after dark

And the bluebirds are a-singing to the lovely "meadow lark";

Where the bighorns are a-grazing and the lonely plovers call —

It was there that I attended "The Cowboys' Christmas Ball"
