10 Chapters to go!

In a surprise to not me, I've been inconsistent in my timing in posting. To be honest, mostly me forgetting that time exists.

Still! We've now got up to Chapter 40 posted! That leaves 10 left, and I've got some time off coming up so we're prepping the last chapters in the morning to post mid way through this week.

A few people have found this story and I'm so happy for it. My silly thing for me to make me happy and challenge my writing style is going out there and that's all that's needed.

Anyway! I really like this chunk of chapters in particular. We've got some Ace rep, made up proposals, kidnapping, a funeral, dorks, and a fight! It's fun!

I've put up the next 10 chapters and now Ed's gotten to Gotham by ch. 20.

Ed meets Oswald in the next set of chapters and that's when I start having the real fun in repairing this man's hurt and trauma! I'm excited.

A work already completed, but I'm posting it in chunks of 10 chapters.

2 years ago I wrote this collection for a Gotham-style Ed Nygma. A character exploration and as a writing challenge to myself. I normally do a lot of words, long chapters, and don't know when to stop. So! This was to try and accomplish more to-the-point short stories while trying not to lose the narration or too much of the imagery.

It was a lot of fun and at a point I decided to end it at 50 chapters. It also ends with Ed's 50th birthday.

I made him Southern, don't know why, but it's been a passion project of mine to make Ed Southern. He has actively been hiding his accent for years to help better prevent people from guessing his actual origins and to keep himself distanced from the childhood trauma and past he hates. We've got a base family tree (ignore that the names are drawn on and not filled in, I was getting help from friends for name suggestions that I'll likely never use, but wanted for fun) for reference.

And we've got a base timeline for Ed where I tried to place some canon events needed (like placing the start of Gotham S3 at about July 2004) to make the whole of the narrative make sense. Even if that's not even close to when it happens, doesn't matter, it's when it happens in this timeline.

(Also ignore how I lay out this timeline, I just have a really difficult time visualizing someone's age in time unless I write it down like this. The first number is their age at the start of the year, their birthdate is in the middle, and after that date they'll be the number at the end. For when I'm trying to plan years and long-term life it just makes it such a faster reference.)

Also, there will be Nygmobblepot in this! They are always my end game, no one can stop me.

These chapters were written out of order, meaning I wrote the initial one and then might've jumped to what would become the 13th chapter, went back and did 3, then did 14 and 15, then 38, then 2, etc. They were just then placed in chronological order based on what topic I could fit into what point in time and what years/months were missing content to better balance out the whole thing.

Anyway. This was all just for fun and it should all be posted in about three weeks. It's got a bit of everything, but a lot of trauma with late stage comfort.

I've been staring at this on and off since you posted it and I can't get enough. I just love the expressions and how well you can read the intentions and thoughts through them. Ahhhhh!

Ed's lil' hands, eheheheheh! Boy about to do the floating thing cartoon characters do when they smell a fresh pie in the windowsill, but with the smoke.

Adore gettin'-thick-Oswald. I can't stop staring at his eyes. Zooming and enhancing to keep looking at everything from the eyebrows to the cheekbones over and over again because there's just something about how you did them. There's just something I extremely like about that whole facial section and I won't stop looking.

The patterns/textures in the clothes too. Aaaah!! It's so satisfying to look at them. They're so nicely mixed in.

I love this so much. Ed's hairstyle is so boy-ish and so him, but like... just the lines! The lines of Oswald's hair! All the different shades and gradients to get that grey in there... Aaaahhhh! This is so pretty to look at, this is such a good drawing. Love it. I adore looking at lines like these in the outline, it just makes the brain happy.

Anyway, this is such a lovely doodle drop! Thank you for tagging me in it, that there was some inspiration in here from Edcubus is so startling still and so happily surprising.
