hey, hey. nuclear fission is only a war crime if its weaponized. making an unlicensed fission reactor is still a crime basically everywhere bc its dangerous as all hell and can go catastrophic if u do it wrong but. its not a war crime.
anyways yeah not even all of the constituent particles of atoms are indivisible/elementary particles. even like. protons and neutrons can be further subdivided. u wont exactly find free-range quarks roaming the fields or anything but theyre in there. what im talking abt isnt normal matter. its a class of matter ive taken to calling "eleatic" bc i havent exactly come across a consensus among the scientific community for what to call it. so i went with eleatic bc of eleaticism, which was like. it was the philosophy of parmenides of elea. who was the ideological opponent of democritus, the dude who first postulated the idea of atoms way before any of that shit could be proven. its like. a whole thing. diana or perhaps wikipedia could probably tell u more than i could about it. anyways the thing im talking about, like elementary particles, is not made of smaller things. and ive got a real good sample of a nice eleatic goop. and i want to split it. which is a thing u cannot conventionally do.
thanks
It is okay. 12 hours is not very long anyway. Good evening.
I was thinking about this to try and help, and I realize I do not really have an understanding of the premise as the thing I am thinking of is a war crime and, come to think of it, likely does not fit the context of splitting a smaller thing that is ultimately the smallest thing.
Oh I see. You are a gamer then. Congratulations.

hi im 12 hours late. i fell asleep and didnt check tumblr after my nap lmao. good uh. evening. im astrid.
do u kno anything about ways 2 split things that arent made of smaller things. i have a nice sample i dont want to ruin the entirety of by trying smth dumb.
its ok gamer is a term of endearment. what are we all but gamers in the game of life.
@striddy has replied to your post:

Good morning. I am Chi.

hmm. interesting. i wonder if thats what this shit is. the fking mystery goo.
its meat btw. this shit is meat. not like. literal meat obviously but. i bombarded it with basically the equivalent of a cathode ray from the dumb magic rocks to induce a temporary micro-exposure. the response was identical to the response i get from doing the same to still-living or lab-growing meat. no consciousness here, either. if it had one, id have gotten a different response, since the rocks are primarily attracted to consciousness. so presumably it works something like your goop and like your goop was once part of a conscious beings body.
except it doesnt do the thing your goop (presumably) does where it behaves like a goop should after it was split off. either bc the residues dont have the same physical properties as the body itself or, since i got this shit from diana, did have the same physical properties and then the goop stopped behaving like conceptual goop when the parent being presumably died. or maybe im wrong and diana didnt kill the thing. who knows maybe shes not as violent as i think she is. maybe it was a gift. from a loving friend. idfk she, a professional murderer, just dropped it on my desk without saying a word and left. what else am i supposed to conclude from that.
oh
huh that is true i guess
i am definitely a conceptual goop
well it does not have consciousness
that is all in my head
i think
head and hands are a little more
packed
consistently shaped
there might be some sort of imaginary rules
governing my make-up
due to my nature

well like. u leave puddles behind that are from your body, right. usually with goopy things that means the forces holding the loosely collected goopy particles together get overwhelmed by a sum of other forces like gravity or adhesion to other surfaces and they slough off. but thats obviously not whats happening here right. bc that requires the goop to be made of discrete particles that have forces between them.
so whats happening here has to be something more interesting. if its u, thats being left behind in these puddles and not like some excretion, then something is causing u to get split. a division has 2 exist at some point between what was once not separate from the body and what wasnt. if its just like. normal forces like gravity or just. kinetic energy from motion that makes it happen then that means ur body has 2 subdivide spontaneously in response to stimuli thatd make something that wasnt eleatic split. since u arent spread across an infinitely* thin puddle on whatever surface ur on that means theres some kind of opposing """force""" that prevents the splitting unless it reaches a sort of threshold. maybe not even bc of any physical phenomena but bc thats what goopy things are supposed to do. theres some things around here that behave semi-similarly. like. conceptual goop instead of physical goop. u kno?
anyways none of this like. actually matters but it is interesting 2 me. if its not interesting to u we can just drop this lmao im not exactly pressed by the physical makeup of those around me
i think you still have what i said backwards
or i misspoke
but i do not know the mechanics
since i am not chemical
or biological
and i am not a scientist
#asmallredlight#*not literally infinite the dimensions would be limited by the surface but infinitely thin sounds funnier so thats the wording i chose

so if you arent made of smaller bits how do you leave goop behind. how do u come apart. is it like. spontaneous creation of goop. or does part of your continuous form actually like cleave off, do you know how that works
well, then thats not the authentic human experience. if ur body isnt subtly failing u in various ways ur doing it wrong.
i am sludge
darkness goop
well i do not know about that
i do not feel that way when human
but when i am solid i feel cramped
so the opposite of that is the best descriptor
loose i suppose

are the puddles like. a different substance than you? do you ooze.
feels kind of like being a middle school marching band. most of its playing along well enough you dont notice that little timmy has been playing the wrong song for five straight minutes until he walks right past you and the discordant trumpeting smacks you in the face. none of the kids are very good but they manage to make something that you can kind of recognize as the national anthem.
like it works 95% of the time but holy shit timmy get a fucking grip. lock in
i meant you said
it does not separate
i sometimes leave little puddles
and such
even on walls
ceilings
but no residue and no stick
i don't know
whats it like being made of cells

Magic rocks will always remain relevant, amongst Vassals and Delvers both. I suppose there's a charm to saying it...
interesting things happen when i hit things with magic rocks (i would say i dont mean literally hit but sometimes i do mean literally)
if it reacts in the same way as other substances im more familiar with that can tell me more abt its structure than just trying every trick in the book i can think of to study it

huh.
before you mentioned the separation bit i was going to ask you if you had any experience being subdivided and what worked for u. u can still answer that if u want i just dont think itll be useful for this particular case.
whats it like not being made of smaller units
yes
in all the same ways described
besides the separation
i find it interesting

temperature has no affect on its properties. that was...obvious, right. eleatic shit doesnt have molecules to vibrate. i couldnt make it react with anything either or get it to change states. it seems pretty inert.
im preparing to see if i can react it with the magic rocks. i want to exhaust all possibilities of splitting it beforehand. a really hot knife didnt work.

Very cool! It sounds like the perfect material for those toy slappy hands or pretending to be a gecko.
yeah, i dont know about that. its still a liquid, even if it stays together.
also, i was wrong. it does affect its surroundings, its just gradual enough that i didnt notice it when i touched it. im monitoring the skin cells on my hand currently and taking note of any changes.

okay, so. its sticky in an interesting way.
theres no adhesion happening here. its one of those bullshit eleatic substances that doesnt seem to be made of any constituent particles that the big boys are so fond of. it also doesnt separate easily or maybe at all and that combined with a null result on radiation testing meant i felt confident enough to poke it.
it seems safe to touch and feels a little like melting taffy. maybe ill develop turbocancer later. who knows.
i dont understand the mechanism for how its adhering to surfaces though. usually u kno things are sticky bc of short-ranged bonds that happen with the outermost particles of the adjoined surfaces. thats not happening here. any old force is good enough to rip it off of something, and it doesnt leave behind any residues. ive got an idea.

no. it looks like itd give me turbocancer or something. im assuming its safe to hold it while its inside the vial. but i think if i drank it i would experience horrible death.
I'm pretty sure you're edible, theoretically, but I've been wrong before. My edibility varies.
But I meant the mystery fluid! Does it smell like anything? Well, I suppose specifically like anything you would drink. I could drink lava so I'm a terrible judge for having lower bounds for that sort of thing.
