"Well I don't know. I'd argue you still do good now. I'd say you've gotten a whole lot less selfish over the years minus trying to collect Bucky's arm. I kid about that but seriously. You've been doing a lot of good lately and I know that feels like it always gives you the short end of the stick. "

"I know I felt that way when I lost Bucky. When I had to crash the plane and everything I knew was gone when I woke up. I know it feels dismal sometimes but there is always hope." He patted Rocket's back and shook his head. "Don't apologize for emotions. We all have them. It's okay to express yourself Rocket. I know that I do...I've learned holing things inside just lets you explode later..."

He leans back casually, crossing his arms over his chest, ear twitching slightly as he thinks about what Steve is saying. "I guess I get it. We're both about proving ourselves, even if our paths are different. I proved to myself that I could be more than just some lab rat or a thug for hire. Now I'm part of something bigger, and it's got it's merit. I just don't want to sit here pretending like I'm some altruistic saint or anything. I'll do what feels right, and sometimes, that's just about what feels right to me. Y'know I use to be good too and you know what that got me? A fricken death sentence. I learned early on that good people always get screwed... and yet..."

Rocket let out another sigh as if letting go any anger that might have been bubbling up as he thought about his ridged past.

"I miss... I miss that ignorance... the optimism... just thinking being good was enough. No matter what I looked like, or what they did to me... but there was nothing."

His shoulders slumped, and he made sure he turned his face away from Steve's line of sight because he was definitely speaking too openly about his past. The ghosts of his past creeping up on him, he never could manage braving the topic for long. The hopeless feelings it'd cause to stir within him, he didn't know how to face them, how to deal with them, so he'd push them down and let them simmer.

"I'm sorry," he said, pressing one of his palms into both of his eyes, wiping away the tears forming before they had a chance to escape. "I really shouldn't be talkin' like that. The past is the past."

"What else would I do?"

"Building a blanket fort."

"You really want to join?"

"Yeah well to put it into words isn't really my forte. Poetry's always been more of your skill. You're better with words and I'm better with visuals. I can paint you a picture with how much love I have but you'd out do me with one sentence. You've always had more of a romantic side than me."

Bucky smiled as Steve teased him back. "Too many, my friend." He replied, looking down and then back up at Steve. "I love you too, Steve." He tilts his head a bit. "Oh?" He lifts a brow slightly. "Must be a hell of a love if you can't explain it."

So I got a new task at work I'm folding papers into envelopes but they hand me like a stack of two pages that are like 200-300 pages and they keep bringing more. Man if I was a more avid drinker I'd be having a drink but that is such a mood.

I would have done it regardless of your birthday but for your birthday I'll do the url thing for sure. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY first off second off I happen to think you're one of the sweetest people on here. You're kind and you happen to be the first to say something nice for someone else or stick up for someone and give them nice words. I don't always mesh well with kid muses, it's my own fault not anyone elses but I think you're one of the rare cases that I can just be honest and you'll roll with it and that is one of the most stress relieving aspects about you. I can be honest and you won't be offended. And honestly, you're one of the most positive people on tumblr. You are constantly reblogging positivity and self help stuff. You're constantly giving out love. You're a wonder.

You're one of the gems I found along the way on tumblr. It's like picking through shit and finding gold on here but that's the way it is. The people that are worth keeping are immeasurable in how wonderful they are. You're one of the few that have stuck around as long as I've been around. You've been there for a lot of milestones and I just think you're one of the kindest people on here and the most compassionate. Thank you for being there and writing with me because I really found a worthwhile friend in you.
