i made a new friend kind of. we were already kind of acquainted and she's been super nice and helped me get settled in my classes better. today was different though cuz it felt more like a friendship rather than just strangers being nice. we sat on the steps outside of a barber shop and talked and she shared her lunch with me. then we walked to go buy some other stuff in the supermarket and on the way she told me she was bi which was even better because yayy gay people!!

she's a sweetheart and i hope we get to being better friends

i had vegetarian [??] pizza for dinner and tbh its not bad. i just hate the olives on it, kinda ruined the experience since i had to pick them off of every slice. its my first time having olives and will surely be the last lol. overall 5/10 i guess.

okay so my mom said she’s gonna let me get locs. i was kinda scared to get them bc i thought they’d look bad on me but i’ve changed my mind. sooo i hope i get them cuz i think theyre kinda cute lol

i’ve always wanted locs bc <3333  but i love my afro and i love being able to comb it and do different hairstyles every other week i’m so conflicted 😭

i really hate how AIDS/HIV and other STIs are so stigmatized. like people really think that you’re gross or less human because of having an illness. and dont even get me started on the homophobia within these conversations...

since valentine’s day is coming up, i definitely think we as a society should change the way we view it, and relationships as a whole. it really sucks to watch people beat themselves up because they think they’re a failure for not having a romantic partner.

we need to reevaluate how we view relationships and the amount of pressure we put on people who are not in one. we also need to stop acting as though romantic relationships are the pinnacle of a “true’’ relationship.

its why so many people mistake any small gesture of kindness as a romantic gesture. its why so many believe in the concept of a “friendzone’’ because they think being just friends with someone [especially in terms of heteronormativty] as some sort of demotion. its why people ditch or mistreat their friends once they get a romantic partner. and the list goes on.

the friendzone doesn’t exist. its okay to be just friends. its okay to not want a romantic partner, its okay to be single. it’s okay if you don’t find “the one’’.

your personal, platonic and/or familial relationships are just as important. you do not need to get married or fall in love, and you dont need to be scared of being lonely or dying alone, because being single does not equal being lonely or alone. it doesnt mean you’re a failure .
