Verb Tenses and Conjugation
“When you are conjugating verbs into any tense, the first thing you need to do is drop the -다 since you almost never need it. With the -다 dropped, you are left with the verb stem.”
Present tense:
- 아요
- 어요
- 여요
Those endings are added to the end of the verb stem to make it present tense.
Conjugation:
If the verb stem’s last vowel is ㅏ or ㅗ, it is followed by 아요.
If the last vowel is notㅏ or ㅗ, it is followed by 어요.
Only the verb stem 하 is followed by 여요.
Examples:
보다 - The verb stem for 보다 is 보. That means the last vowel is ㅗ, which means the verb stem will be followed by 아요. When you add 보 with 아요, it becomes 봐요. 봐요 - I see, I look, You look, You see, etc…
먹다 - The verb stem for 먹다 is 먹. Since the last vowel is ㅓ rather thanㅏ or ㅗ, you add 어요 to the verb stem. When you add 먹 with 어요 it becomes 먹어요. 먹어요 - I eat, You eat, She eats, etc…
하다 - The verb stem is 하, so the only option is to add 여요 to the verb stem. This would look like 하여요, however it has become 해요. When you add 하 with 여요 it becomes 해요. 해요 - I do, You do, She does, etc…
Past tense:
- 았어요
- 었어요
- 였어요
Those endings are added to the end of the verb stem to make it past tense.
Conjugation:
Verb stems ending with vowels ㅗ orㅏ are followed by -았어요.
Verb stems ending with vowels other than ㅗ or ㅏ are followed by -었어요.
The verb stem 하 is followed by -였어요.
Examples:
하다 - The verb stem is 하, which means -였어요 will be added. When you add 하 and 였어요, it becomes 했어요. 했어요 - I did, You did, They did, etc…
먹다 - The verb stem is 먹, meaning that 었어요 will be added. 먹 added to 었어요 becomes 먹었어요. 먹었어요 - I ate, You ate, They ate, etc…
사다 - The verb stem is 사, so 았어요 will be added. 사 added to 았어요 becomes 샀어요. 샀어요 - I bought, You bought, He bought, etc…
Future tense:
-ㄹ 거예요
-을 거예요
거예요
Conjugation:
Verb stems ending with a vowel are followed by -ㄹ 거예요.
Verb stems ending with a consonant are followed by -을 거예요.
Verb stems that already end with ㄹ are only followed by 거예요.
Examples:
하다 - The verb stem is 하, so ㄹ 거예요 will be added. 하 added to ㄹ 거예요 becomes 할 거예요. 할 거예요 - I am doing, I will do
입다 - The verb stem is 입 which means 을 거예요 will be added. 입 added to 을 거예요 becomes 입을 거예요. 입을 거예요 - I am going to wear, I will wear.
팔다 - The verb stem is 팔. Since the verb stem already ends with ㄹ, 거예요 will be added. 팔 added to 거예요 becomes 팔 거예요. 팔 거예요 - I am going to sell it, I will sell it.

Women, poc and lgbt people in Sweden might lose their rights today
When the election in the US was happening it was all over tumblr. I know Sweden is in no way as big and powerful as America, and this won’t affect anyone who doesn’t live in Sweden, but I want to spread awareness because I and thousands of other people are terrified.
There’s a big chance that one of the political parties in Sweden will win today. The political party I am talking about is called Sverigedemokraterna (basically translates into The Sweden Democrats), they’re conservative, nationalist, far-right and are founded in nazism and fascism, but they have in recent years tried to hide their history with nazism to trick people and get more voters. Actual neo-nazis support and vote for this party. There are actual politicians working for this party who are either 1. Nazis or 2. Nazi-sympathizers/have participated in hate crimes with nazis, and a lot of them have very high positions of power.
Some of the things they want to do is:
Sterilise all trans people who go through surgery
Ban lgbt people from adopting
Ban single women from adopting
Allow doctors and nurses to refuse to perform abortions
Make it illegal to abort after week 12
Close the borders so refugees and immigrants (specifically, non-white immigrants) won’t be able to come into the country
etc
And they may not have explicitly stated that they want to make gay marriage illegal, to ban abortion, to ban Islam, etc, but it is clear that tons, if not the majority, of their politicians, are extremely and violently homophobic, islamophobic, racist and sexist.
If they win today, lgbt people, poc, muslims, jews, women, and tons of other marginalized groups of people here will lose their rights. Thousands of immigrants will be deported. So yeah, we all are terrified.
